The hotel was good for what it was. The hotel is a little dated but for the price, it is a decent place to stay for a few nights. The staff is friendly and accommodating. My mother mistakenly booked the hotel for one less night than what she really needed but it was not a problem to add another day. The hotel seems very prepared for the Navy graduation which was the reason for our visit. The surrounding area is a little suspect but like I mentioned, okay for a few nights.
It is cheaper and the same as the courtyard ones if not better. It's pretty nice. Also, they offer a discount if you're attending a navy graduation which is pretty cool and it's really close to the base.
So much I could write. The staff was great at check in and check out. The rooms were clean and it was very quiet. The pillows could be changed with actual pillows not couch looking ones and the beds aren't the most comfortable ones. We stayed for two night and it was good but had we stayed longer or spent more time in the rooms we would have probably picked somewhere to stay.
Second time in the area first time staying here. After booking and then reading reviews i was a little worried, but was pleased with the results. This place has very nice staff and great place to stay in the area. Standard hotel, but very clean and family friendly.
Like many others, we stayed in this conveniently located hotel for the weekend of Navy Graduation. The front desk staff is friendly and accommodating but the rooms are VERY shabby. The old vellum blanket on my bed had multiple holes and was tattered along the edges. We requested new blankets the next day. Housekeeping delivered some equally old but less tattered acrylic blankets. The towels are thin and worn out. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because they have a free "shuttle" to the RTC. The "shuttle" turns out to be a 12 passenger van, so even though we were in the lobby early enough to catch the first shuttle, we were shoved out of the way by others and had to wait for the driver to drop off the first group and return for the remaining people who had hoped to catch the first shuttle. (This did impact our choice of seating once we arrived at the RTC.) For the price, I expected a "no frills" hotel, but I think the management should consider freshening up their hotel (especially the LINENS) and communicate to people that the "shuttle" is actually a van and you are not guaranteed a seat on it at your desired time.
I checked into this location because I was working in N Chicago for one day. I used a free night from my rewards. I went to bed late around 1130 pm and woke up around 1 am and could not fall back to sleep. Around 5 AM I happen to look at the wall behind the night stand and thats when I spotted it. A Bed Bug was crawling up the wall. I grabbed one the clear plastic cups and took it to the front desk and checked out. What a waste of a free night. The desk clerk was very apologetic and took a picture of it with his cellphone as well. Would I ever stay here again? Not on your life!
The desk clerks were very good ... this is a Red Roof though. No frills. Not even a coffee pot in the room (but I always travel with one because I don't like the one-cuppers either. The hotel was quiet, the rooms, although a bit worn, were clean and the bed was comfortable. It was my first time in a Red Roof - only for one night - and since I was traveling solo..it was just fine. Plus they did have both smoking and non smoking rooms, Also had excellent wifi connection.
Traveling with 2 big dogs and a cat can make it difficult to find a place to sleep at night. They were friendly, and the room was clean and the beds warm and comfortable. It is much to look at, as it is an old motel. It was perfect for us, and the perfect price.
The hotel offered very reasonable rates for my long term stay in Waukegan. The room was clean and served its purpose. The staff were exceptionally helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a no-nonsense hotel in a convenient location.
I was skeptical for a while as it seemed as though every time I went to the parking lot, there was someone sleeping in a car. Never the same car. This was a constant thing during my 2 day stay. It never seemed to be a problem, it just seemed odd. Staff was friendly at checkin. Room was clean and the area was quiet. An issue I had was that they don't have the espn network.. I have never stayed at a hotel that didn't have espn. Doesn't mean anything to anyone unless your team is playing on monday night football, which my team was. I will stay here again if I'm in the area. I probably won't stay on a monday night though.
