Room looked nice initially until I noticed an awful sewage smell and sewage marks from the ceiling along the wall. Night manager brilliant - moved me to the only double room left. But, replacement room above Turbo charged aircon plant that fired up every 10 minutes. Terrible sleep.
We spent one night here whilst visiting family in Nuneaton. I had requested an accessibility room as I have some mobility issues and these rooms have a wet room shower which is much easier for me. The room itself although a little shabby was clean. The bathroom was the problem. The floor of the shower had some cracking and the shower floor generally had seen better days. The shower head did not sit properly and was not the cleanest and it was very difficult to regulate the water. The seat in the shower showed a lot of rusting underneath. There was a shower curtain across the bottom of the shower area but not on the side where the toilet was. Consequently after using the shower everything in the bathroom was soaking wet you had to go around wiping everything down including the toilet. There was no soap in the dispenser above the sink and finally the toilet seat fitting was broken. As this room is supposed to be for people with disabilities and those in wheelchairs I would have thought that it would have been maintained to a much higher standard than this. I have stayed in accessibility rooms before and this one was by far the worst. It did not help that the room was right next to the public toilets and everytime someone went into the ladies the door banged really loudly. This happened about 4 or 5 times during the night which meant we had a very disturbed sleep. It is easy to say that you should complain whilst you are there and I did actually tell them about the public toilet door but when you are only there for one night you do not want to spend your evening just making complaints. All I can say is we managed but I will not stay there again.
This was my second visit to this hotel; the staff are great but do keep in mind the following.....try to get a room at the front of the hotel as the rooms at the back get very hot during warm weather and you do hear the noise of the main road which does get very busy from early morning. Also avoid the rooms next to the corridor dividing doors as they bang from early morning as early birds leave the hotel. There aren't many places worth visiting on the Bermuda Estate for food; the pub next door isn't great for food and McDonalds well is McDonalds.....however, get in your car and try some of the local non chain eateries. If you are looking for a clean hotel, with good staff in Nuneaton close to the motorway network then you will not go far too wrong with The Holiday Inn Express
basic holiday inn, clean and tidy with nice staff, breakfast is included in the price but its not a huge choice, just the basics. The rooms were compact but comfortable, I visited on the hottest day of the year though and the fan didn't quite cut it as it just blew hot air back at me, no air con in the rooms but is in the communal areas. one night stay on route to a conference, the Wi-Fi was useless for streaming Netflix and was expensive for one night of higher speed internet so I didn't bother. No other issues or concerns.
The hotel is very modern and the bed was very comfortable. I opened the window at night, as there is no climate control in the room. There was only a shower and I had to pick up an ironing board and iron from the front desk. The breakfast had the usual boring selection and the eggs, sausage and bacon were tasteless. I didn't try the coffee as it came from one of those machines that produces all different kinds. Next time I will go out for breakfast. Otherwise, I would stay here again when I'm next in Nuneaton.
Good enough hotel, clean and comfortable and near to a few restaurants. My issue was that on a hot day with no aircon I had to have the window open at night and the road noise was terrible. Everything worked ok, although the free wifi was throttled to 512Kb which made my 4G connection quicker, it isn't any good for streaming. Breakfast fine although they ran out of pastries on day 1 of my stay. I would use again but only if I could get a room on the side facing away from the road.
Stayed during the hottest day of the year and with the rooms not having any aircon it made for an uncomfortable sleep. Upon checking in just before 5pm the room wasn't ready and had to return to reception to ask for a change of room which was duly given. The room itself could have done with a spruce up and the shower was temperamental. The breakfast was fine and the scrambled eggs were nice and fresh Staff were warm and friendly
One night stay due to conference Easy check in Room basic but clean and adequate for what was needed Close to restaurant and fast food facilities Breakfast very nice Check out smooth Perfectly good for type of stay
Situated at a nice location with good entertainment spots nearby, you get the usual courtesy from the Reception staff. Good breakfast menu, clean rooms and excellent service were a highlight. Only things worth mentioning would be very poor and virtually non-existent WiFi signal in the room, although it was pretty fast in the lobby. Secondly, no room air conditioning for the hot weather, they have heating though. May not matter to many, but they did to me. Still giving it top marks and a chance for redemption.
Was very disappointed this year as the hotel knew we were coming for the weekend and ran out of beer on the Friday afternoon. They did go to the cash and carry to get some cans in for Saturday evening, but thought the price of £3.05 per can was a bit steep. I know they want to make a profit, but that was taking the Michael. The staff are always brilliant and the breakfast was lovely. I think they have lost us though for next year's reunion.
