I saw great reviews about this property, but after our stay I wasn't impressed. The place is hard to find. There is a small sign by the road and the hotel is behind another building. We had to circle around 3 times before finding it (navigation brings you to a road that no longer exists). Once we got into our room, the smell was overbearing. I'm not sure if its a new construction smell, but it was as if someone spilled a jar of pickles on the carpet. The walls are also super thin, and all during the night when someone on the same floor would open their door, it would slam shut and make a loud boom. The second day of our stay, housekeeping removed the used towels, but forgot to leave fresh ones. We returned late at night and had to share one towel and one washcloth. I've never seen a hotel with so many people waiting around in the lobby. It seemed at any given time that there were 10-15 people sitting in the lobby and young kids running around. Finally, only two receptacles in the room worked, obviously there are some electrical issues either in that room or the whole building. On a positive note, the breakfast was good (eggs, sausage, pancakes) and the staff seem friendly.
Just a quick overnight stay for business in the Galleria area at Christmas time. Room was as expected. Service was good as expected. Some nearby construction but no problems. Quiet night and relaxed stay. Would stay here again.
I stayed at this property on the week of October 14, 2018. I particularly liked their attention to: • Connectivity: There were a lot of USB charge ports and plenty of electrical outlets for my computer. I was able to simultaneously and easily charge my phone, tablet, and computer. This was much better than almost all Holiday Inn Express locations. • The bed was good (as typical for Holiday Inn Express). • The shower was fantastic with good pressure and a good size. I loved the sliding doors, which made it easy to come in an out. In am in very good physical shape, but it was very nice to NOT have a tub. • The desk was easy to use. • Although I didn’t use it, they had easily-accessible ports for the TV. • Clothing iron was extremely good. Good steam and even had a light. • Lobby was clean and I even had a visitor come by and spend about 20 minutes with me in the lobby. We used the couches, which were very convenient. • On a personal note, I needed a screwdriver to fix my luggage. Since the front desk didn’t have one they left a note for maintenance in your hotel notebook. The next day, maintenance did not leave a screwdriver, but more importantly the notebook was not there (or at least they didn’t find it). When I told the front desk man my story, he went to his car and gave me his screwdriver (which I returned later). I know this is not part of hotel responsibility, but it really was appreciated. Please pass along my thanks!
The guy in the front desk was so inviting and so welcoming above and beyond our expectations when arriving to the hotel. We checked into our room on Wednesday night we were planning to leave Thursday morning after our long day in Houston Thursday we decided to book the room again for Thursday night going on the Friday morning because we had loved our stay the night before why need to find any where else so we drove back to the hotel and booked for one more night. Oh and I can not forget how clean the rooms are and let’s not forget breakfast was pretty amazing it was pretty good for being a holiday inn express
The hotel was clean and seemed pretty new. How ever it seemed like my room wasn’t ready to be occupied. There was construction dust in the entry way and bathroom. The cold water wasn’t cold. But the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.
Very quiet, as it sits back from the road about a quarter mile. Less than 4 months old/renovated, it’s immaculate and well appointed. Within walking distance of several restaurants and bars. The manager was quite polite when he checked me in and gave me even more bonus points than I paid for! Will definitely stay here again when I return to Houston.
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel as she was visiting Rice University and Houston Baptist University July 20-22. We chose this location no knowing exactly where the hotel was located due to the distance of Houston Baptist as she needed to be close to attend a Soccer ID camp early in the morning. Turning into the hotel is a challenge as it is off a major service rd and it not easy to see the turn. The area is not the greatest area at all with limited food choices and its not a place you want to be out late especially two ladies. The Galleria is not far away which is a good food option. Ok back to hotel. Hotel Appearance: Pros: From the outside the hotel looks new, when you walk in the lobby the hotel looks new, when you walk into your room it looks new until you actually take some time to check your room out. Our first room was a suite Rm 314, it was a very nice sized room with two large beds and sleep sofa, flat screen tv with control you can hook up to your laptop or other connections. Microwave, refrigerator, everything looked good. Cons: That was until only after being in the room for 5 min we saw a trail of ants in the bathroom. So we called downstairs and were told that the maintenance person was gone for the day, we said ok we could spray ourselves, but the closet to the spray was locked we were told. So we just said ok its just a couple we can deal with it. While I was at the desk working I felt something on my leg and when I looked down I had ants crawling up my leg, which mean they were in the carpet too. We called back downstairs and were given another room, right below this room Rm 214. All seemed well, we checked for ants and did not see any. But this room was not either finished decorating of they forgot the same items there were upstairs, The microwave was gone, so we now had to go downstairs to pop our popcorn (the late night desk attendant was very helpful and nice). The air conditioner was very loud and we did not sleep that well. When we tried to call downstairs to ask about the air and the microwave the phone didnt work, so we had to use our cell phone to call the hotel what we were actually staying in. I am not sure if this hotel is used for day visits but it had lots of people going in and out with different people. Also the smell of marijuana in the elevator and second floor hall was very very heavy. Breakfast: Breakfast was decent, quick items to catch on the go that included cinnabons, bagels, english muffins, eggs, sausage, bacon, oatmeal and a variety of cold items, yogurt, milk, boiled eggs and ofcourse coffee and juice. The young lady at the front desk tried to help as much as possible and was very nice. But I was a little saddened when I spoke to the gentleman that checked us in and told him that our original room had ants and he just said oh ok. We were not compensated at all for one nights room. Though we were switched to another room, I do feel that we should have been offered a little something as we had to shake out all of our things to ensure we were not moving ants with us. If they call pest control and finish furnishing the rooms and just make some basic touch ups because for a new hotel there were already a lot of cracks and rips, this could really be a great hotel for the cost.
I use Trip Advisor to select my hotels no matter where I am going, and that is how I selected this hotel. It is a new hotel, so there were some issues, which is why I titled this, Can I give a 4 1/2 rating? This hotel is very clean. It is new, so it should be! When I checked in, the man at the front let me know that he had accidentally given away my standard king room, so he upgraded me to a king suite. It was just me, staying just one night, so that was great. The room was spacious, plenty of outlets, for all my electronics, a fridge, microwave, and plenty of space for luggage. I liked the work desk as well, with a desk lamp. The bathroom area was well lit and spacious. However, there was no bathtub. It had a large walk in shower, but no tub. This is a good feature after moving boxes all day, so it did bother me a bit. When I asked the front desk, he offered to check some other rooms to see if there were any with bathtubs. After his search, he was not able to locate any rooms with bathtubs. I went to check out the pool area, and the indoor pool was very clean, and though it was not huge, there was plenty of room for a quick dip. However, the pool was FREEZING! I inquired about that at the front desk. The night time guy said that it was going to be a room temperature pool, but the morning guy told me they were going to heat it because of so many complaints. I have no idea which way it will go, but suffice it to say, I did NOT get in the freezing pool. The workout room had some nice treadmills and good weights. In the morning, the free breakfast was solid! Juices, cereal, muffins, bagles, yogurt, milk, hot bacon, eggs, sausage, bisquits, gravy, and a place that looks like on certain days, you can get pancakes! Very nice breakfast-especially for free! I almost gave this hotel a 4 because of no hot tub and no bathtubs. I realize, though, that is a preference of mine when I stay at a hotel. The guys who worked the front were great, very personable and helpful. The hotel is in a great location for southwest Houston. It was only about 2 miles from where I needed to be. If I don't need a hot tub or tub, I will stay here again. The price was great, and the people were very accommodating!
Yes this hotel is new. Yes it’s affordable. But way too many issues for our stay! The safe didn’t work in our room and the clerk came twice to try to open it, no luck so we said forget it and took our valuables with us. The walls are paper thin! We could hear every single thing in the rooms surrounding us and in the hallway....including doors opening and closing, hence the reason I’m writing a review at 2am! Cannot sleep due to noise, TVs, lights switching on and off, foot traffic...no insulation whatsoever. Stopped here on a very long drive for much needed rest and did not get any! This hotel was not made to last. Flimsy furniture, loose faucet fixtures, and thing walls/doors.
$81 per night plus tax is what I paid. Was a little leary of the price and location but you can't go wrong booking this hotel. It is fairly new, staff is great, breakfast was totally enjoyable with a huge variety, room was clean and beds very comfortable. The only negative I had was the indoor pool because the water was so cold! Kids didn't have a problem with it. It is set off from the freeway a bit so you don't get the traffic noise and there isn't too much around it. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel.
