Stayed Friday night left saturday morning nice place

I actually booked this hotel by mistake, thinking that it was closer to my daughter's apartment. I had never stayed at a Sandman Inn before, and friends did not rate it too highly. I found the location excellent, giving me easy access to downtown and to the university. The room was clean, and the staff (at least some of them) helpful. The restaurant adjoining the hotel is a disaster, however. Service was literally non-existent. The food was poor and too expensive. I only breakfast there once. However, Victoria has a number of excellent restaurants nearby. I recently stayed at the Eaton Centre Chelsea Hotel in Toronto, which was more expensive and more highly praised. However, I would select the Sandman over the Chelsea any day.

I usually go for less expensive hotels (why pay a lot of money if you are only there to sleep?) and the Sandman met my expectations. In general, the Sandman is a cut above the other hotels/motels nearby, and the rooms are more spacious and the decor is newer. A couple things for improvement: the carpet is old and probably things should be replaced, and I was unable to use the gym, because it opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Opening at 6 or 7 a.m., and closing at midnight would better serve the needs of business travelers and people who need to get an earlier flight or ferry.

I arrived after a long ferry n bus ride to hotel . The front desk was helpful and actually upgraded my room for a small fee which i was so excited . The jacuzzi suite is magnificent I couldn't ask for more . It wasn't noisey n I slept like a baby . I will return

The room was ready early, the pool warm and clean. Overall a great stay. Thanks Sandman Hotel!

Great location, we're in Victoria for one night on vacation, wished we booked for a couple of more nights. Close enough to walk to downtown sites, restaurants and bars. Very friendly staff.

It is a fun place, location is amazing. Staff is courteous, rooms are clean. We had 2 rooms here: 1 was a larger room with a kitchenette, perfect for a family with kids. The other one was a regular hotel room. This hotel works for all age groups.

It was fine, nothing special but clean and worked for a one night stay.

Cleanliness is an issue. We rented a suite with kitchen facilities. Food was stuck on the silverware, the shelf with the dishes had a grimy film. We pre-washed all the dishes we thought we were going to use. The bathroom floors were dirty. And, we ran out of hot water at 8:30 am. Needless to say - we checked out early.

A great choice, executive rooms, clean and comfortable. Away from the noise of downtown but very close to everything. Nothing missing but a fitness centre The best hotel for the price in Victoria

We were traveling with our 26 yr old daughter and booked a suite. We "assumed" that there would be a door between front room and rear room. NOT! If she was watching a different show on TV the sounds were competing. Also motel is not as close to down town as you would believe. Not in my walking distance anyway.

The Sandman Hotel in Victoria was clean and easy to find. When we arrived it was late at night and the front desk person was not at his post when we arrived. We had to wait 15 minutes before he returned. There was no indication of where he/she was and when to expect him to return. Upon his return, he was very friendly to myself and daughter and was most efficient in our check-in process. We were upgraded and hotel check out was just as efficient. The only real draw back was upon our arrival, the parking lot was full with nightclub patrons and finding parking was not easy.

Our stay at the Victoria Sandman hotel was the last stop on our get away. The Sandman was a bit of a disappointment. Not to say there was anything wrong with it, but since it was the most expensive we expected more. If you are looking for a clean hotel near downtown with free secure parking this is your place.
