The drawback was it's rather far from the airport (half hour car ride).

We had a very pleasant, quiet, and uneventful stay.

a somewhat older property, close to downtown, ample parking sometimes a bit obstructed by all the rental car agency vehicles around. Interesting ambience and décor. Staff very nice, room clean and comfortable if just a bit cramped, good linens and pillows. Wi fi worked well, as did the air conditioning (warm weekend in Victoria). At the price, I"d definitely stay there again. Oh, no ironing board in the room, and we didn't ask for one, I imagine they have them if you want. Handy to have the microwave and good sized mini frig in the room, the little freezer was as useless as they always are, with a lot of ice. The coffee singles were a hit.

The hotel is basic and inexpensive but nothing special. The room was small with way too much large furniture for the room's size. The bath was tiny and the tub did not drain well while showering. However, the location is convenient...right on the bus line. The staff was very helpful.

I never stayed in the arbutus before I think in future reference I will stay again.

The room was very clean nice and quiet comfortable beds

Very nice motel. Bed linens were awesome. Nice having microwave and fridge in the room. The room was very clean.

Best thing about this motel is it was convenient to everything around the area. No free breakfast, swimming pool, gym...etc so if you don't need them this is a good deal. Room was rather small (had two double beds) with a huge TV cabinet/dresser that took up way too much space in the room. Had no where to lay out our suitcase, except the bed. Parking was an issue because they don't have enough spaces for cars so you might end up parking on the street if you go out to dinner. We had a room #111 and it seemed be pretty quiet with no street noise.

Not bad for $50 a night if you need somewhere to stay. It's quite a ways from downtown so you'll probably need to take a taxi unless you are willing to hoof it for over a mile. The staff at the hotel are really nice. The room was ok. The furniture was aged a bit, but the beds were fine. The shower knob was loose and eventually fell off but I was able to MacGyver it back on. Overall experience wasn't bad.

Visited Victoria and stayed here for a week. It was an excellent visit. The hotel is very quiet, clean and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The room was an average hotel room size with 2 double beds, a desk, flat screen LCD TV, Fridge, Microwave and phone with free local calls. The bathroom included sink, toiler and shower/tub. The free wifi and local calls was great, and major bus routes come right outside the hotel which was perfect for sightseeing. Down the road there is a Mayfair mall which has everything you might need. Walmart is a mile away and easily accessible walking or by bus. There is a convenience store called Winks that sells bus passes, water, etc open from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. I would recommend this as a basic, no frills hotel when you are in Victoria and want to focus on spending your time and money outside - while having a clean, quiet, safe place to come home to. An added bonus is the car rental service that shares the lot, as well as free parking for hotel guests. We just caught the bus everywhere, but we did consider renting a car the last day. National allows you to rent from the Arbutus Inn and return it to their airport location - and the price for a day rental is not too much more than the cost of a cab. Combined with free parking at the hotel, if I had planned more ahead of time I am sure I would have taken advantage of that to have a car for at least a couple days I was there.

Staff wasn't friendly old building many things was broken. Koffe maker had old filter with mold in it

The hotel staff give me a lot help to setting up my computer for wireless internet connection. Good job.
