Amazing location with great welcoming crew. They also do amazing activities in the area and are truly worth it.
Great staff and a very social environment for anybody visiting Vancouver. It is a hostel so obviously there are some luxuries you give up but overall its a great place to stay as its right on Granville street and at the center of Vancouver.
Staff was excellent. Roommates from all over the world were very interesting, respectful and fun to talk with. Bed was very very comfortable. No chairs in room and bunk bed did not allow sitting up comfortably. Bathroom was very difficult with water on floor, one shower not draining and very tight tension on all bathroom doors making it very difficult to open. 2 nights DJ music was playing very loud until 1 and 2AM Breakfast was great and generous. Building is very old and needs new rugs.
We stayed three nights at Samesun. The first two nights there were big groups of Australians--it was extremely loud, perhaps not helped by the thin walls. Luckily our room was not directly above the bar. The kitchen and common room were constantly packed (mostly with drunk fellas) as was the little bathroom (there was only one bathroom for each floor). The breakfast was alright but it felt chaotic with so many people and it was difficult to find a place to sit. The third night was a little more comfortable since a few of the bigger groups had checked out. Also, the wifi did not reach our room. The activities looked fun and the staff were helpful. It just did not seem as though the hostel was built to house as many people as there are beds.
