This is a horrifically dated property, like a Ford Model T operating in day and age of Tesla. Update it, man ! Whats wrong with you guys ? From the classic keys you'd find a 100 years ago, to a ridiculous dated tub that wont drain water, to disgusting floors, to hallways full of construction material. Why do you even have your doors open ? Why ?

Amazing location within walking distance to a beach, bars, restaurants, parks etc. Staff were very welcoming and friendly to us and our dog who is very shy with new people. I requested a mini-fridge and staff were able to accommodate that request and had in my room within a few hours. The building itself is beautiful and the underground parking was worth the ~20$ a night for me. I can't wait to go on another road trip to Vancouver with my dog and stay here.

Very nice quaint hotel, with wonderful history and a beautiful ambience.

the view from the hotel was nice and close to the beach and park

Amazing location on English Bay, darling restaurant, tons of character!

Loved visiting the hotel that was in the book "Mister Got to Go" that we read to our son when he was little.

The hotel is in a great location; the rooms are basic and their amenities basic too (e.g. no in-room minibar). What was really infuriating to me and something I had never ever experienced was that they locked me out of my room the night before my departure because they wanted me to preauthorize the total amount which would be due on my departure day!!!! They did not tell me about it; I only found out about it after I tried to enter my room but noticed it had been locked (with all my belongings in the room). No written notices, no phone calls - they have my cellphone number- no emails; nothing. I went down to reception to ask what was happening and they told me they needed to process pre-authorization on my credit card. And the preauthorization was almost $200 more than the total cost of my stay!!!! The explanation they provided on the day of my departure was that they had left a message on the phone in my room. Which I seriously doubt and I think it was a lie because I was in my room pretty much everyday until around 11 and never received a call. And, all hotels leave a note in your room if they want to communicate with you or email you or call you on your cellphone. Anyway, I do not recommend this hotel.

The true stories of Mr Got to Go and the Sylvia Hotel are so adorable! Happy to hear you had a chance to stay with us after reading the book to your son. There are three books in total now. We hope you stay with us again and and see the other 2 books.
