A 65 años de edad, casa de pueblo japonés tradicional situado en el animado centro de la ciudad, Mukojima, Tokio. La casa pertenece a mi marido, que pasó su infancia allí. Somos profesores universitarios, y la casa era demasiado pequeño y viejo para que vivamos con nuestros tres hijos y un montón de libros, por lo que nunca hemos vivido allí. Después de 30 años, me pareció bastante guay, ya que no ha cambiado en la casa de estilo occidental, que ahora es raro encontrar en Tokio.
La casa fue renovada muy bien que queda de su sabor original. Hay dos dormitorios; una con cama de matrimonio y la otra con dos camas individuales. Las habitaciones en el segundo piso están plantas y tatamis. Hay pequeña pero acogedora sala de estar y una pequeña cocina en el primer piso. Cuarto de baño con bañera y ducha cabeza. Usted encontrará el 'washlet' en WC.
Desde la casa fue construida justo después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, todo se hace pequeño de acuerdo con el marco de los pueblos japoneses en ese momento. Si usted es manera más alto de 6 pies, puede que le resulte un poco cerca e inquieto.

Casa encantadora

Esta casa es una pasada! Es confortable, limpia, acogedora, comoda, renovada toda nueva, la zona está muy bien. El único pequeño inconveniente es el ruido de la carretera, pero como ya lo saben tienen a tu disposición unos tapones de oreja para que no te moleste. Muy recomendable sin ninguna duda. Gracias !

If you want a little more room than a typical Tokyo hotel, this is a great place to stay. It has 2 bedrooms. You get to learn more about post WWII life here too. It is next to Family Mart and a shrine. It is a little noisy from proximity to a busy street, but it was worth it for us.The hosts were very helpful with recommendations on things to see and places to eat. They also helped us with train schedules and how to get around Tokyo.Heater/air conditioner worked well and we were very comfortable here. Laundry in house available but we didn’t use it. Shower was great with high water pressure. The rooms were extremely clean.

Our family of 4 had an amazing stay! Everything was well kept, and having the Familymart so close was very convenient.The owners responded quickly to us when we had a minor issue with the lock. There are 2 train stations within a 10 minute walk.

We stayed as a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 teens. It was a little tight but we made it work. The house is a little confusing to get to as the address will bring you to the back. You just need to go around the corner. It was awesome to have Family Mart steps away from the front door. It’s a little loud since you’re close to the Main Street. The neighborhood is very cute and walkable. We enjoyed our stay. The only thing I would recommend would be clean new towels. The towels were very old and stained. The linens could use some updating. Also if they could offer more pillows. Other than that it was a fantastic stay. I would highly recommend it.

Clean rooms, well maintained and located in a great spot. Windows are old so you can hear the main road, but still found it comfortable to sleep. The archways are low and stairs a bit steep, but the listing is very straightforward about this. Really enjoyed our time here.

We wanted to experience staying in a traditional Japanese house and this place provided that! It is a small house, but it grew on us each day we were there. We loved how it was decorated. It is located in a very residential area with not a lot of restaurants nearby. There is a Family Mart literally steps from the front door (a great place to get coffee in the morning). The Shinto shrine next door is quite nice and peaceful. The house is old and the walls are thin (it is a traditional Japanese house after all from the bygone days of Tokyo). There is a very busy road nearby with a lot of traffic noise, even in the wee hours of the night. Ear plugs are provided, but we didn't use them. The heater/ac units worked great and we were never uncomfortable. The doorways are low and a few of us bumped our heads more than once. The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. The winding staircase can be a bit tricky if you have mobility issues. Note: Apple Maps will not take you to the right location! Use Google Maps if you are trying to find it. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Skytree Station and about a 8 minute walk to the Hikifune Station so we had no trouble getting to the sites we wanted to visit in Tokyo. I highly recommend a visit to Ueno Park! The host was good about communication via the Vrbo app, sometimes not always the case with properties in Japan. We enjoyed our stay at Sumire house!

Excellent Japanese experience!

The home was in a lovely neighborhood convenient to subways, with personal touches and cultural touchstones. Our family enjoyed meals around the kitchen at the end of a long day of adventuring around Tokyo! Highly recommend for a traditional Japanese stay with modern comforts! #japanstay

Superbe maison, quartier résidentiel

Une maison traditionnelle chargée d’histoire, idéalement située dans un quartier résidentiel. Après une longue journée de visite, quel plaisir de se reposer loin de toutes agitations touristiques. Les hôtes sont très réceptifs, vous répondent de suite, sont de bons conseils. Wonderful Family experience in Tokyo

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this traditional Japanese house. The location is near Oshiage Skytree station (10-15 minutes walk). This might not suit some as a location to get to tourist locations but it worked well for us.Contact before and during our stay from the owners was excellent and so helpful with restaurant information and local knowledge.The beds were very comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed to have some meals at home. Family Mart is right across the road.Height of the doorways might be a challenge for anyone tall as we all managed to forget at least once but it waa part of the charm. The staircase is also not for those with any mobility challenges.There is a temple in the surrounds of the house which was undergoing renovations when we were there but so beautiful.The house is close to a main road, so there is traffic noise at night but there are earplugs supplied and it really didn’t bother us.Easy bus ride nearby to Asakusa, walk to Sumida Riverwalk and Skytree.Our family thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay here, would absolutely recommend it for anyone wanting an authentic experience and hope that we can return someday.

Traditionelle Haus, recht gut renoviert

Die Lage des Hauses ist top. In der Nähe des SkyTree, mit der Möglichkeit zu Fuß über die Brücke nach Asakusa zu spazieren. Dass die Tür-Durchgänge etwas zu niedrig waren, hatten wir erwartet, Wir hatten allerdings in der Woche meist schlechtes Wetter und trotz guter Heizleistung der Klimananlagen war es in der Küche etwas zugig.

Reliving history

Part of my reason for returning to Japan, was to study traditional interior decorating, This house was a good example, as it was built before WW2, Other advantages were the nice neighborhood, plenty of space, laundry, good heating system, friendly owner.

A spot to call your own

We enjoyed all aspects of our stay at Sumire House. It’s cozy and safe tucked away in an area filled with families. Everything you need is within easy walking distance, bus just out the door and two major stations a ten minutes walk. The owner is quick to reply to any needs and concerns. Have fun in Tokyo…we did!

Lovely House

We enjoyed our stay at Sumire House. Communication was excellent from the start. Very charming traditional house and nicely located, far enough from the commercial shopping areas but with good access. Family Mart across the alley. Only caveat - street noise. A good pair of ear plugs worked well for me. Super clean house, well-supplied with all the basics. Comfortable beds with warm comforters. Would definitely stay again.

Charming traditional house with great access to transport networks

Unique and great stay at Sumire house. There's no other house like it in the neighbourhood. The proximity to the local shrine also adds to its charm. We loved the location - away from the hustble and bustle of major tourist areas but well connected via Hikifune and Sky tree station making it easy to get to destinations.We stayed during winter, and whilst there are heaters, the house isn't well insulated, and on the ground floor in particular and it can get rather cold. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and our hosts were also great and accommodating.
