Staff made the checkout uncomfortable as the elevator was completely jammed and then they kept calling and demanding to leave the room when I could not get to the room. It’s not reasonable to ask the guest to pay more or a penalty for late checkout when you make getting to the room so difficult due to inefficient elevator.

Some of the newer APA’s are decent... this one is not. The lobby smelled like leaking sewer pipes, the bathroom smelled like dirt. The other APA I stayed in had a raised bed, so suitcases can be stored underneath. Not this one. So, with only one hook for clothes and no shelves, we spent a lot of time jockeying for space and opening and closing suitcases. The rooms are small, even by Japanese standards, so I would only recommend short stays. Location was good...eateries and quick marts everywhere and transit about a 10 minute walk. Washer/dryer in the building, safe and quite, courteous staff

My experience in APA hotel is a very good experience. I will continue staying here next time when I come to Tokyo.

Terrible hotel with rooms the size of a Toyota Prius. Found used fake eye lashes on the bed. They cut every corner they can find. They even bribe you to put a "do not disturb" sign on the door for a free bottle of water. You're better off staying at a hostel.

First time visiting Japan and didn't know which hotel to pick. There were closer hotels to the Shibuya station, but this was perfect. So many restaurants and shops on the way and it's literally 10 minutes walking distance to the station. I'd pick this hotel again for my next trip back to Japan!

Hotel Staff extorted us for cash. Details: 1. Friend asks hotel to make dinner reso on Fri. and Sat. 2. Hotel mixes it up, so we go to the wrong restaurant. We contact them when we find our Fri. restaurant isn't open. 3. We return to the hotel later that night. My friend's key doesn't work. We go over to the desk. 4. Hotel Staff insists we pay 69k yen (~US$700) cancellation fee before he will provide a key to his room. 5. My friend says that he will sort it out in the morning. We were told earlier that if we go to the Fri. reso on Sat. and cancel the Sat. reso, we won't be charged. Staff refuses. Says we must pay him now. 6. Two hours. We say we will take care of it with the restaurant tomorrow. Ask for him to release my friend's room (which holds all his stuff: passport). Staff refuses. Calls security. 7. Another hour. Staff calls police. 8. I call AmEx Concierge. They suggest paying the fee and disputing later. 9. We offer to pay by AmEx and resolve in the morning. Staff refuses. Demands cash. 10. Another hour of negotiating (police call their English speaking counterpart and he coordinates over the phone) Staff agrees on compromise. All the cash we have on us and the balance on AmEx. Also wants us to go to the cash machine at 10 am and get as much cash as possible. We pay 12k in cash and 57k by AmEx. 11. Later, my friend goes to restaurant at open and resolves issue. Hotel Manager apologizes and provides full refund. Ordeal took around four hours.
