We spent two nights at this establishment while we explored Sidney.

The hotel made us feel like we were in Sydney and not in a big chain hotel anywhere.

Our room was fabulous and we hope to stay there every time during our visits. The location cannot rave enough about and the staff is exceptional. The only negative was that during one night on the connecting door in our room somebody was banging on the door several times during the night. I am not sure what that other guest was up to but it was disturbing and scary. Would like to know what was happening. Not enough though to keep us away from this gem.

The Sir Stamford was conveniently located to the cruise, except for the one block, uphill climb with luggage. Check in went smoothly and the bellman was very helpful. The room was very large, with a decent view, but it was chilly and did not have any heat. I ended up with a chest cold after the three night stay. Except for the large rooms, it was just an average hotel.

This should not be listed as a 5 star hotel, it is more like a 3 star hotel. The location is good but the place is old and in need of renovation. The bathroom tile has many obvious stains and the carpet smells of mold.

At 3AM a faint alarm like noise started from the closet and continued until 7:44AM. Not a good experience

This hotel is perfectly positioned for a visit to Sydney. Walking distance to the Opera House, Circular Quay, with ferries, train and bus services to all parts of Sydney and the gardens across the road. The staff were very helpful and breakfasts excellent. A room on the tenth floor with a good view of the Bridge and harbour was an added bonus. This hotel is a traditional building with period furniture and old paintings. The rooms are large with every convenience expected of a five star hotel.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sir Stamford. The location is perfect for anyone visiting Sydney and wanting a "near" waterfront location. Close to the CBD, restaurants and the Opera House (make sure you check out the Opera Bar - great evening fun!). The rooms are nice, though a little dated. Very elegant type furnishing - not modern. We had a deluxe room that was huge! The bar is nice. Normal prices. Food in the bar is limited. Restaurant is nice for breakfast, didn't try for dinner. Pool deck is great for a little "outside" time. I'd definitely stay again if I wanted the same hotel type, but I'd probably go more modern next time.

We loved our stay at the Sir Stamford. The concierge, Troy, was so attentive and helpful. The rooms were very clean and spacious and honestly could not imagine a location any better than this one! I would stay again in a heartbeat!

This hotel is truly centrally located, right across from the botanical gardens and a 5 minute walk or less to circular quay, where you can catch a ferry or bus to pretty much anywhere in the city. The staff was super friendly and helpful in making dinner reservations and giving us suggestions of what to do and see. The rooms were very nice and clean with comfy beds! My one and only small complaint would be that the rooms could use dehumidifiers... it felt a bit moist in the room, but other than that it was a perfect stay!

The hotel is extremely well located close to Circular Quay, and offers a very high standard of accommodation along with friendly and helpful staff.

We returned to this hotel, where we had stayed a week before. We were delighted for an unexpected upgrade to an executive suite. On our return the staff treated us as family. Was a wonderful experience.

The Sir Stamford exceeded all our expectations for a 5 star hotel. The room was beautiful and very comfortable with a nice view of the park and great location. The staff was exceptional without being overbearing. The Bar has a nice singer on Fri and Sat nights -- we even did some dancing. Food at the Bar and at breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to try the Dining Room which is closed on Sun and Mon. We enjoyed the outdoor terrace on the 5th floor for coffee. The pool, although small, was very pleasant as well. Our only very minor complaint is that the temperature of the shower in our room was difficult to control. We definitely hope to return to this hotel when we come back to Sydney.

Tired rooms draughts from windows very bad and suite was noisy due to road

We enjoyed our 3 night stay immensely. Excellent location. Walking distance to Harbor and Opera House. Loved the elegant decor throughout the hotel. The sitting room off main lobby was so homey and cozy with a lovely wood burning fire place which was lit up in the evening. The marble bathrooms were exquisite and the king size bed so comfy. The rooms were exceptionally large. Plenty or room to relax after a long day of touring. Free internet was also a big plus. If looking for a hotel to stay at in Sidney, Look no further. This is the place for you!

Can't beat this place! It's about 1.5 blks from the harbour where the ferry runs and where the buses run. However, it's quiet. The people in the hotel were beyond friendly. Stu and Willie were fantastic and extremely helpful.

This hotel was in the perfect location. I saved a fortune by not having to take taxis while I was in Sydney. We used the train, bus, and ferries all of which are walking distance from the Sir Stamford. We walked the Bridge at night and got some great pics of the Opera House. The only complaint I have was with the continental breakfast. I was charged $67 AUD for myself and two small kids. That's some expensive toast!

Excellent location - Huge room - Reasonably priced. Did not like the fact of a $25 per day charge for internet. Seems customary in AU. Eat at the bar: good prices and great atmosphere.

Charming traditional hotel in Sydney's most convenient location, 50 yards up the street from Circular Quay -- we could see the ferries and trains from the bedroom window, and the harbour bridge from the lounge window. We booked an "executive suite" which was a clean bright spacious corner suite. The hotel decor is traditional English right down to the fire crackling in the wood-panelled lobby lounge. The staff were consistently friendly, helpful and efficient --[...] deserve special thanks for extra help with our luggage. If only the wifi were free, this would be a homerun...

Very comfortable place to stay. Ideally located for activities in the CBD. Would highly recommend it.
