From the price I had initially been quoted when I first arrived to the hotel to the time I checked out was a few hundred dollars more. The Indian guy that served me at check out kept saying that was what gave system was saying and when I advised him that the paper work I signed on at check in has a different price and I was served by the manager, he asked me if I have that paper (knowing I don’t because they don’t give you a copy). He was unwelcoming and very condescending. The room was a small room with a bed that constantly moved with a bathroom that was tiny (this was a king suite). It had stains everywhere and was just below standards for the excessive price. Besides the location, the hotel was not good at all.
Breakfast was nice with lot of options to eat Service was excellent and they are trying their best to clean the rooms Carpets was worn out and they needs to replace . Unable to walk with bare foot Car parking entrances needs an attention and hard to enter and exit from the building Overall value for money with nice location
Arrived in the afternoon and checked in only to find the air conditioning in room not working. It was a hot day so after half an hour the room temperature was not Improving so I called front desk who sent up maintenance-he couldn't fix it...advised me to keep front door open for circulation of the hot air in room. After another 30mins no improvement so I called front desk and they said they would send up maintenance again. I was thinking to myself what maintenance would do now he couldn't do the 1st time. Fortunately, front desk manager called and advised they were coming up to give me keys in a new room on 3rd floor...thank goodness...by this stage I was hot and bothered...I also received 4 complimentary bottles of water and what appeared to be a room upgrade so I was pleased with their management of the inconvenience caused. The hotel itself looks like it ready for a facelift. Everything was clean, beds great....just general look was tired. Great location...easy quick walk to Parramatta ferry and Parramatta train station...Great eateries outside on church st..Westfields shopping down the road
I stayed for 4 nights over new year, arriving on New Year's Eve. Never been to Parramatta before and I was impressed by the feel of the place. Lot's of ethnic restaurants (Indian, Malaysian, etc) within close walking distance of hotel. Only 10 mins walk from the ferry on the Parramatta River which will take you into the city (around 1 hour 15 mins) - this is a really pleasant way to start the day. Get an Opal card from the Seven-Eleven store in the main street and you're ready to go. Hotel room was clean and quiet. Didn't eat in. Also 10 mins walk from the train station.
We chose to stay at the Novotel for New Years Eve as it was easy access to the train station to travel into Sydney. This helped keep the cost down. The hotel is located within walking distance to the station and town where there is a ton of places to eat. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were a little outdated but not bad at all.
10 of us 30 and 31 of December so we could go to the Sydney fireworks. As you can imagine at this time it was quite expensive. The rooms were quite tired and our bathroom was extremely dark as the main light did not work. We told reception and they did offer to move us, but we had already stayed one night and didn't want the hassle of moving. The pool was dangerous, our son got out to start the spa and both his legs slipped from under him, resulting in an extremely large egg on the side of his head. I may stress that he was not running, just stepped out !!. The staff first aider did help by assisting us with ice to bring down the swelling but it ruined the kids fun as we were to cautious to go again. When we arrived back after new year, we rang to confirm the time breakfast finished and check out time for the following day. We were told 11am. On going down to breakfast at 10.30 it had finished and they had tidied up. To there credit, they rustled up some bacon, egg and toast for us but it was by no means the full breakfast we were expecting. There were also other guests that had been told the same thing and were still coming in. Would I stay again ?, probably not, especially not at $300 per night plus carpark fees.
Cons : First impression was corridors were dimly lit, carpets were not clean. Extremely disappointed with the lighting of the room - insufficient lighting where the room was only lit up by a couple of lamps and no proper room lighting. Kettle was found to be leaking water from the switch. Insufficient pillows. Air-conditioning was inadequate as the room was uncomfortably humid to sleep in. Bathroom had inadequate ventilation. Telephone buttons were not working when I needed to contact housekeeping about the faulty kettle. The room key card unexpectedly failed and required reprogramming. No complimentary newspaper. Car park lifts were not working at times and the car park required cleaning. The storage of linen and mattresses in the car park, amongst cobwebs gave a poor impression of the hygiene and cleanliness of the hotel. Shockingly for a 4.5 star hotel parking was not complimentary and extremely costly especially since the car park was rather shabby. Pros: Tasty breakfast but need more variety especially for a longer stay. Lobby looks luxurious.
After 30 years of hosting Christmas lunch we broke with tradition this year and had a great family lunch at the Novotel Parramatta. The seafood buffet and carvery was amazing with lots of different foods catering to everyones wants. The dessert table with the gingerbread houses was a hit with young and old. Santa made an appearance and all children received a present. There was champagne, beer, wine and soft drink included in the price. It was nice to have a year off hosting.
Check-in satisfactory, car parking-by self is $18 per day underneath the hotel, Room is Spartan but clean but marred by the odour of stale cigarette smoke Bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom clean, shower was tiny but acceptable. I would probably want to put a sheet on the dark brown lounge before lying on it though. A friendly staff member at the bar made a nice cappuccino the next morning
We are regulars both staying and eating here as is local. The staff are wonderful and we always encounter great service. We enjoyed an early Sunday dinner with exemplary service from Yogash who really went above and beyond to ensure our meals were A1 perfect!! A huge Thank you to him and also the lovely Faith who was just finishing her shift not long after our arrival. We will be back very soon!!
