Room large, terrible design no bedside cabinets or power point near bed , needed to plug in medical equipment lucky we brought a extension cord with us. Bathroom small and not very clean and very old, the curtain did not cover the whole window also the room we had backed onto a smokers terrace terrible for privacy.Plenty of secure parking, near Summer Hill train station about a 10 min walk also plenty of restaurants around train station so they were the positives. Accommodation wasn’t cheap .
This was my worst experience in a long time, Offhanded clerk at reception who would not offer to reserve a place for me to park on the same level as our unit despite my being unable to use stairs due to limited knee function. This was I spite of being requested before the booking was made. The ramp to the second level car parking was so narrow and curved that our Station Wagon barely fitted up and once up there was no room to turn around when we discovered it was fully parked. All units are either second or third level. Ours was second level and obviously recently undergone a makeover. The one next door was being worked on and we had loud drill noises all afternoon. The unit was small and the bed so high off the ground that any normal height person had to struggle to get on it. There was only one large office chair on castors and 2 small low stools. The bathroom was miniscule without any clearance between shower recess and toilet. The hand basin was so small and the ultra trendy tap so large that you could not fill the kettle unless by doing it a cup at a time. It would not fit under the tap. They must think a few freebies make it extra stars but these were on the window recess above the toilet pan so it was a miracle they hid not fall in the pan. This is one place I would not even recommend to my worst enemy.. No one deserves the treatment we got here.
We were upgraded to the newly renovated deluxe family room. The room was very clean and beds were very comfortable. The rain shower was really nice too. The train station is nearby, approx 10 min uphill walk. The room had everything we needed for one night. We would stay again but only in the newly renovated rooms.
We had 12 of us staying at this hotel across a couple of rooms. Compared to other accommodation rates, this was perfect. Very cheap but at the end of the day we were only sleeping there. Bathrooms very small but you have what you need. Linen was clean and beds were comfy. Toaster, kettle and decent sized fridge in room. Rooms very basic so don’t expect too much. Free parking which was a bonus and it was secure. Location was great! 7-11 across the road, 2 block walk to Summer Hill train station with a 15 - 20 min train ride into the city, just past the train station is Lackey St which has a number of restaurants (Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian), a large IGA and bottle shop. I would stay here again purely based on price.
I loved my stay at the marco polo motor inn the staff were great the rooms were great they were clean the only thing i would change would be the shower heads to something with flow but apart from that its in a great location and was one of the cheapest motels in sydney
We were just after a bed and shower as we had a late night function in nearby Newtown. Room was dated but clean, beds were comfy, has all the basic necessities. Loved the security parking! This is a good bonus. Great location close to the city and inner west. Downfalls- walking up three flights of stairs and a little noisy, car park was very tight. We would stay again if we needed a late night bed.
The location is great. The train station into Sydney is only two blocks away and the train goes directly into Sydney in about 17 minutes. Very easy, even for us out of town people. Parking at the motel is free (not the case in some other hotels we looked at), so we left our car there and took the train into Sydney. There are also some good restaurants about 2-3 blocks away. We ate a very tasty wood fired pizza one night. There is also an IGA supermarket nearby. As others have noted, this is not a new motel. It is definitely showing signs of age. The bathrooms have not been renovated in quite some time, the layout is a bit different too, with the rooms on the outside of a multiple story rectangle and the middle is empty and you can see the cars from the middle. You can hear guests in the next room if they are noisy. We did not hear any traffic noise. We were there with our 13 and 16 year old sons and it was a pretty tight squeeze into the one room. I still give it 5 stars because it is great value for money. The room was clean (under the beds, bathroom, sheets, new towels every day etc), the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful (and spoke English). We had an issue with our toaster and they fixed it right away in a friendly way. The kindly explained where to go for the trains, restaurants, etc. There is a fridge, toaster, kettle so we could have snacks and make sandwiches for our outings. I felt safe in the neighbourhood, even when we came home late at night. The last time we stayed in Sydney we stayed at Park Royal Hotel at Darling Harbour, which was great, but had a completely different price tag. This time, the kids were a bit older and we felt that our money was better spent enjoying the sights and food. When I booked the motel I read some of the reviews and was not quite sure. To others I can now say that this is a budget motel, very much showing its age, and so staying there is a bit like staying at a caravan park, but it is clean, friendly, in a fantastic location and very good value for money. I would be very happy to stay here again.
This is a budget meets unclean and unloved. One of those properties where the owners are just using it as a cash cow while waiting to develop the site. The mattress was OK. It’s a bit hard to be positive about anything else.
Pros: -Parking available -Short walk from the train and a nice shopping/restaurant strip -Clean room -Comfortable bedding -Good AC unit Cons: -They sent a family to try to enter my room after they checked in, apparently the staff have no idea where people are staying and for how long. I don’t appreciate random people trying to get into my bedroom but this mistake was clearly due to carelessness on part of the staff. -The sink in room 214 is in desperate need of repair, if you turn it on just the slightest it explodes water all over the room. Basic maintenance is expected in a motel, and this sink needs immediate refitting. -The windows rattle like crazy with the smallest hint of wind and I had to pack a towel into the area around it in order to sleep. They badly need replacing. The curtains have huge rips in them as well. -The door has a full inch of space underneath it for noise, cold, and pests to come and go as they please. I saw several cockroaches in my room during my stay and had to use another towel to block it up at night. These doors also need replacing. -The wifi is slow and unreliable, cutting out regularly. -The kettle lid is broken and won’t close. It’s very obvious damage so it means several staff would have seen it by now and have still done nothing. They just don’t care. -There are random frayed wires hanging out from under the table in my room, I hope they weren’t live but I wasn’t willing to check. Hazardous and unsightly. -Everything is so white I felt like I was in a hospital. Nothing cozy about sensory deprivation. -There are always children screaming somewhere in the complex, at all times of the day and night. They really should put a noise curfew in place for the comfort of their guests. (And enforce it.)
Booked for 3 nights and only stayed the one. 3 adults and two children all cramped into one room. Aircon right above the bunk bed. Top bunk unsafe. Bathroom very small, no holder for toilet roll. 1 chair and table. Just overall very unkepted rooms. My son asked to change rooms, and got told would cost extra $175. Walking up 3 flights of stairs for an elderly person with two knee replacements not good. Left after just staying overnight.
