Fairfield Inn by Marriott Springfield

Nicer than I expected. Very similar to a courtyard marriott, having stayed in a bunch of those. Very pleasantly surprised, thanks for everything!

This motel is very nice--clean, modern, convenient for locations in the southwest. Maybe I do not understand the rating system, but I cannot believe that this is only a 2-star motel. There is nothing additional I would have needed or wanted.

If this were a luxury hotel,I guess I would give it more stars, but it isn't. That is fine, as I did not expect luxury. The front desk staff, the breakfast lady, and the cleaning staff were all professional and exceptionally competent. The room was spotless; nothing was missing nor in disrepair. The breakfast buffet was a selection of healthy choices, and the coffee was very good!

Card key had to be re-set three times, with only an 'oops' as a response from the front desk, which, by the way, was most of time not present. Breakfast is a joke: a bowl full of 25 totally rotten and molding apples, 2 dozen black bananas (they must not get the yellow kind), stained pillow that remained in the room until I had to call for removal, very uncomfortable beds, no Do Not Disturb cards, electrical sockets that were inoperable, sheets replaced even when indicating I preferred to save water and not have them changed every day. This hotel left so much to be desired.

Only stayed one night for a conference nearby. Felt it was clean and close to my needs.

Not what we expected from Marriot even if it is the lower line. The motel was adequate and had a good location. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was a half step above continental. We were on a family trip and spent time at the Lincoln Library and museum. A MUST see. Springfield has a lot of history and is a lovely city.
