There is no elevator, and no parking... Had to pay extra to park somewhere else

Great place, excellent location, would stay there again next time in San Juan

Short overnight stay, served the purpose. Not suitable if you have heavy suitcases.

2.0 star rating The room reminded me of a dungeon, it was so small. You could barely walk around room. Good thing I am short, cause if I was any taller, I probably couldn't use the toilet cause it was too close too wall. Shower is so tiny, you can barely turn around in it. The shower curtains and walls were dirty, the a/c wasn't very good. My bed was caved in and very uncomfortable to sleep in. We lost power cause of the hurricane and they didn't tell us what the plans were, when power was coming back on or anything. This is day 3 here, still NO power. You'd think they'd send us to another girl temporarily or something, but nope. I kept windows open for the last two days cause of how hot it was and kept taking showers cause of heat and being sticky. Well the screens on the windows are messed up, so now I'm tore up by mosquito bites. Then to top it off, I found 3 roaches in my room. That's when I packed up my crap and said I'm out!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I STAY HERE! Pics are very deceiving. Motel 6 is better than this and they're cheap and more spacious. The ONLY good thing about this place, was the staff. They were sweet and very friendly.

Canario such a surprise and delight. As a couple, we love to stroll and to our fortunate week, everything from Walgreens to little jems of dinning from morning to night was within walking distance. The joy that overcame us when we stumbled upon Parque del Indio and walking Puente Dos Hermanos. We are most definitely nomads and traveling with Uber to Old San Juan, El Morro, Castillo San Cristobal, and everything in between. THe upside is having family near by to take us on mini tours, so staying at Canario was convenient for his family. Thank you for a lovely time, especially exploring the pools at sister hotels, At Wind Chimes Boutique Hotel and Acacia Boutique Hotel, which will be our next spots to stay at.

Good staff but the room is very small and need to be up date.

Close to the beach, restaurants, casinos and nightlife. Clean. Small but comfortable room. Very attentive staff.

Staff is not very informative, with the exception of one young lady, they rest of them spoke very bad English, and did not know answers to many questions about the island.

Some Hotel staff was friendlier than others. No amenities. No elevators to carry heavy bags to 2nd floor with 3 flight of stairs. Room was small & clean. The a/c was cold in hot weather. This was a place where you can lay your head down & shower. Maid service could improve. They only would throw out trash & replenish a couple of towels. For those who on a tighter budget, wouldn't mind staying in a very humble hotel & room to do the job of your stay, this place is ok. Area had a lot of restaurants, shopping stores, & a couple os Casinos. Bus lines close by. Beach was couple blocks away. Booths to book tours. Overall, a nice place to stay.

For the price, area, and close walk to the ocean the hotel was great! The bathroom had mold on the shower curtain and walls, the bathroom floor was dirty, and the bed was old and lumpy.

The staff is very pleasant. Hotel doesn't have an elevator so carrying luggage up three flights of stairs was kinds interesting. The toilet was not cleaned, no face towels in the room and tables in the room was dirty also. On my third day (Sunday) my room was not clean. By the time we got back to the room housekeeping was going for the day and no one was able to change the sheets, we was give fresh towel by the front desk attendant.

Not bad for the price. Beach, stores and action close by. Good AC in room! Not luxury but perfect for the bargain shopper!

the hotel was decent, the staff were very friendly, helpful, and humble. The only thing I didnt like is that they didnt come into my room to clean up a little.

It was not a complete surprise, but I enjoyed so much the comfort, size and cleanliness of the room! And the location was ideal for my purpose; many options for eating and traveling right there in front. I was with old friends and new relations and we all enjoyed the convenience and comfort of the hotel. It felt like we were home!

Iwould recommend as a place where you can find comfortable accommodations in a good location near beach area with lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance.

Good good excelent i will recomended the price was good and the quality better

the receptionist was amazing my friend and I didn't have a clue what to do when we were to arrive in Puertorico. The receptionist helped up out with EVERYTHING her name was Aida and she booked everything for us. My best-friend and I were so amazed on how helpful she was. Not only that, but the price was amazing, breakfast in then morning from 7am-10am thank god, because I love to get up late. check out was at 11am and they still let us have our stuff at the hotel until we were ready to leave to the airport. I'm defiantly staying here again it fits all my needs!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Canario for 4 nights in late January 2014. It`s located right on Ashford avenue with plenty of restaurants and shops all over the place. The beach is a 3mins walk away and the bus stop to Old San Juan is just down the street. The hotel itself is cute and the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but very clean (and who goes to Puerto Rico to hang out in the bedroom anyways?). Overall I would definitely recommend the Canario if you`re just looking for a great location for an affordable price.

You will never have a room there unless you reserved through their website! The story is always the same, there was a misunderstanding: they approved the reservation without checking the availability of the room. They are very sorry about that, but in these cases they advise to send them an email/call 1 week before the departure. So, I showed them our email sent 10 days before the departure asking about our reservation, and the replies from Mariela and Calvin confirming our reservation at Canario BOUTIQUE. Calvin wasn't able to answer after seeing the emails, and gave us the phone number of Sigrid (the Manager), letting us know that the day after they will find a room at the Real Canario Boutique Resort. In the meantime, they reserved for us a room at Canario by the Lagoon, with separate beds (we are a couple)! moreover, we booked the Deluxe room paying the extra fee... At least these people at the other hotel were nice to change our room with a queen bed one! They had a nice and friendly staff, but still remains a cheap B&B, in comparison to the one that we booked. The Adventure Pack that I reserved, was overbooked and we lost that money too. Advice: Better choosing another hotel in that area, because you don't know if you will always get the room that you booked.
