Stayed here with my partner for just a night but had a magical time. This is my dream hotel - comfortable rooms, incredible 360 roof-top views, courtyard swimming pools, awesome location in Old San Juan, and a piano bar!! Tons of interesting art (the owner is an artists!), beautiful plants and really cool pet birds in the courtyard that greet you with a cheery "hola!" Our room was incredibly quite and well air-conditioned, and we slept like rocks. Spent the morning sitting on the rooftop enjoying the view. This is a must if you are visiting San Juan - don't bother looking anywhere else!

The word Inn may not be the most appropriate word for this place - it is a collection of rooms and apartments that the owner has bought over many years. Together you feel brought back in time, with indoor and outdoor walkways, old furniture and books, and unique rooms everywhere. We stayed on the top floor on the south side, overlooking a quiet street. We had a huge covered outdoor patio, as well as two rooms and a small kitchenette. It was very quiet. There is an indoor/outdoor eating/bar area, which is amazing. It has sculptures and art work and wall plantings. Next to the bar area is a piano room - the owner has a relationship with the San Juan Conservatory and she hosts musical events of all types.

My husband and I live a 30-40 minute flight away from Puerto Rico and we try to get to the beautiful city of Old San Juan as often as we can. The ONLY place we ever stay at is the Gallery Inn! It is the most amazing, eclectic, beautiful, warm, inviting, peaceful, place you will ever stay at. Jan the owner is Amazing! She is so talented, Beautiful inside and out, and very special. If you stay here , and you should, there is so much history, Art, and musical talent, to absorb, that you will be glad you stayed here. An absolute must place to stay or visit when in Old San Juan!!

What an awesome hotel! My husband and I spent 2 nights there on our way to Mexico to get married. We were amazed by the charm of the hotel as well as the friendly staff, good service and great views. What is super unique about this hotel are the birds that are around the property. They are quite entertaining! I would recommend this to hotel to anyone traveling to San Juan.

What a place. The location, a stone's throw from El Morro, overlooking the ocean, is prime. The hotel is a cluster of older homes, dating to the 1700s, so every turn takes you to a unique and unexpected area. There are so many cozy nooks to sit and enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine, all beautifully decorated and full of tropical plants. The rooms are all different, well-appointed, comfortable. Ours had a balcony that overlooked the ocean and fort. The staff is amazing. There is a bar downstairs, opening out onto a side street. Pool. Rooftop garden, where we sat and had a great conversation with the owner, who has been in the buildings since the 1960s. A totally unexpected treat was a concert in the Steinway room, given by a quartet of musicians. Three were from the Puerto Rico Symphony, and one an invited pianist from the mainland. The jazz quartet concert would have been right at home anyplace in New Orleans old quarter, or New York City, except that it was SO intimate...only about 8 of us in addition to the musicians. I have stayed in a LOT of hotels through Latin America and the Caribbean, and this place may be my favorite ever. (The only qualifier is that the room air conditioner we had was a bit feeble, and had a hard time keeping up with heat during the day. Dr. Joe room.)

I've stayed in a lot of hotels, but none have been as weirdly unique and amazing as The Gallery Inn. First I'll say the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is in the middle of Old San Juan, about 10 minutes to each of the main forts and in quick walking distance to restaurants. The hotel itself is a beautiful old mansion turned into a hotel and you can easily spend 2-3 hours just looking around and exploring, it seemed like every time I turned a corner there was something else surprising to see. I wanted to spend time lounging in each room taking in the views of the city or the beach. Be sure to go to the pool/bar area and up to the roof, you can't beat the views. The only negative was with our room location we could hear every person passing in the hall - not great. But even still, without a hint of hesitation we recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone, and we hope to return at some point.

We absolutely loved the Gallery Inn. We spent three nights there for our anniversary last September. The room was nice, definitely not the basic hotel, if that's what you are looking for, it is so much more. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere and location were top notch. We will return.

Our room was quite comfortable and we enjoyed the art and birds that inhabit this little boutique hotel. Owners very involved in day to day operations and staff was very accomodating. Breakfast was pretty skimpy, but the coffee was good.

The place is an artists paradise! All the rooms are uniquely decorated by the owner, Jan, who is a world renowned artist and a very interesting person. This hotel has been the set for several feature movies for good reason. If you must have a TV in your room and room service this is not the place for you but if you want to escape reality, you have come to the right place

Our stayat the Gallery Inn was an experience in itself, the room was clean and very different, the bed was comfortable, my daughter stayed in another room and her experience was terrible no hot water, no window very tight in the room and got double not queen size bed that they paid for, if you want that Ancient feeling then this is a good place for you, there's a'lot of art work and garden to see, as for the breakfast it was very poor we only had the choice of cereal or toast, i asked for eggs but i was told they didn't have any that morning, but as i was leaving the breakfast room they had started making scrambled eggs for someone else. The staff were friendly, the lobby was clean. Also note there's only stair and you need to care your bags up those stairs.
