Hotel Le Bergerac

Stayed there for 5 nights because I paid early on. It is a OK motel level. No AC and the street is very noisy during night (single pane windows). Lots of ants in the bathroom. Hallway is also noisy. The included breakfast is very very simple hardly anything to eat (maybe the taste is OK for local people) but the charge is a lot. Booked because of the 4 star rating and I think I will book next time the chains such as Holiday Inn or Hilton. Overall, not recommend to people from USA.

Worst hotel experience in 10 years. Never, never, never again

This hotel was great value for money and close to the airport. if you need an hotel when you are waiting for a flight, this is it. staff is really helpful

Hotel Le Bergerac is a quiet little hotel located on the outskirts of San José. With traffic, (a lot of traffic) it took nearly 2 hours to get to the hotel from the airport by taxi. Without traffic, the ride takes about 30 minutes. The staff was very friendly, however, it took 3 tries before we got an appropriate room, as we reserved. When we arrived, we said that we needed a room with 2 beds. They put us in a room with only one bed. It took a lot of phone calls to the manager before they gave us another room with 2 beds. However, the TV did not work. After several more phone calls and a visit from the manager, (who said we were LUCKY that there was a room with 2 beds available) they put us in another room with 2 beds and a TV that worked. (This should have been the first room they put us in.) Once we were settled in, the front desk staff was extremely helpful in booking our city tours and recommending restaurants, shopping, etc. The hotel restaurant is terrific. The food is delicious and the service is great. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant several times. Le Bergerac is located in a quiet suburb and has a supermarket close by and a major indoor mall about 10 minutes away, by foot. The hotel is very quiet and somewhat uneventful. I may decide to search for a more exciting hotel the next time I visit San José.

A decent hotel at a value price. Staff is very nice. You have to ask at the desk they open the door to get in and out. It was annoying!

I would like to thank all the staff of the hotel. They were very courteous and caring. The rooms were comfortable and the area is really nice if you'd like to be close from San Jose downtown and yet stay on an upscale, quiet neighborhood. I would only mention as an improvement opportunity to focus on the Gallo Pinto and the fruit punch, the ones we had for breakfast were lacking of flavor.

This is a nice, clean hotel in heart of San Jose, CR. Great, friendly staff with awesome service.

Staff here are great. I arrived 2 in the morning. They opened the gate, helped me to get my room quickly. I stayed twice here in my trip to Costa Rica. Big spatial rooms. Quiet area even it is close to the downtown. Close to everything too. Restaurant, supermarket, bank are all in walking s Distance.

a little old but spotless and staff was great like being in the rain forrest

The hotel is dated but very clean and comfortable. Soft beds and soft TOWELS. It is like being in a rain forrest.

The perfect little place to start your stay in San Jose. A great value if you book through this site.

We loved out stay here and will come back again when we need to stay in the city in the future. We loved the staff and was cared for like a family member. A pleasure and a surprise.

Personal was really friendly, food at the restaurant was very expensive, room was nothing special.

I have stayed at Le Bergerac five other times in the past. While the customer service remains excellent, there are many other things that are not as good as they were in the past. For example, my husband and I only had one wash cloth to share between the two of us. I think two people deserve two wash cloths. Yuck! Additionally, they jelly served with breakfast had water added to it. The juice had water added to it. I ordered bacon one day and got three slices yet, the next day I got two. These small things communicate a big message...they are cheap and trying to save money in slick ways.

Our stay here was great. It was a gated property and we felt very safe. The room was clean and the food in the restaurant was great. I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel was awesome. Although away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, had $1 bus access direct to downtown. Close to largest mall in city. Staff was engaging and aimed to please. Only difficulty was that our reservation was not transmtted despite confrmation so that staff had to scramble to find us a room and they did! Also lovely dining area and patio!

This was our first stop in Costa Rica and we loved the gardens and birds. We had a modest room but it was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was very good and enhanced by the very engaging server Nick. He set the tone for many more wonderful Costa Ricans who really are enthusiastic and hospitable. I'd go back just to hear Nick's stories and jokes! The rest of the staff were also great.

costa rica is a place i will go back to. the people there are amazing. we were hardly in the hotel obviously because we went to explore. but the people in the hotel were nice and helpful to us especially for first timer. they had a map of san jose which that is where we stood and that help us a lot.overall the experience was amazing.

We were in town for one night and couldn't be happier with this nice, charming hotel. San Jose can be quite a chaotic place so it was really enjoyable to go back to this peaceful spot. Staff is great and really helpful, food is simple (like most Costa Rican food) but fresh and good. The room and bathroom were huge. If we ever stay in San Jose again, we will definitely stay here.

After driving through San Jose and not seeing much of the city's safest place, i have to say we were comforted to arrive at the hotel. It's safeguarded and it is actually located in a nice area of the capital. The service was amazing, and we immediately ate at their restaurant which was delicious and affordable. The room is nice but not amazing. I think the mattress and sheets are a bit outdated and it was a bit cold at night. Breakfast was great and overall the hotel was of great value for its price.
