Property is outside of the downtown hustle, but that also meant there was nothing extra around like dining options. It is generally quick to get an Uber to move around from the area (unless you hit traffic). But if you are looking to be away from more of the city environment, but still be close by, this is a great place.

The hotel staff and service was very nice, clean, quiet, professional and friendly. The front desk staff was very helpful, kind, informative and accommodating. The pool area was nice and the food selection was great. The one thing I did notice that I didn't absolutely love was the "old carpet" smell that was in the hallways. Other than that, everything was nice and clean.

Amazing Stay!
Our experience at the hotel was amazing. We had a premium room, which had a private lounge with food and drinks; loved that! The staff were really nice and hospitable. The hotel and room were very clean and location was close to downtown San Jose.

The property is surrounded by beautiful gardens and it is very clean and close to different places in San José. It is easy to get a cab and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is has variety of choices and especially loved the fresh fruit, the hot dishes can be better especially the pancakes (more like cookies with lack of flavor) The dining is limited but have a variety of dishes, the pasta dishes are very good, however they overcooked the meat and fish dishes. Prices are reasonable.

This is my four time in a Barcelo hotel always happy with my decision but at this time Barcelo San Jose didn’t fill my expectations. Even though, the hotel is nice and the breakfast was very good the transportation for airport is free that is very convenient. I didn’t receive any special treatment as VIP and my room had a leak when we used the shower.

Overall the stay was fine. Except the day before check out my key card kept getting turned off and couldn’t access the premium food area on 606 when coming down for the second time to get my card turned on the male front desk man around 7pm lecture me about why my card would be off … and cutting me off when trying to tell him that it was my second time getting my card cut back on and it was never around my phone to be the reason it wasn’t working …. The food also seemed to be reused the next day for breakfast but over all the stay was fine /
