The hotel was in a quiet environment, the pool and room was very clean

The place was just as I expected. I stayed in the smallest suite and I was very pleased with the sleeping space and kitchen. The staff was very helpful with inquiries about what to do and how to use the buses. There is a market down the street to buy groceries and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. I barely know Spanish and had no trouble communicating with the staff and commuting to downtown San Jose. The pool and jacuzzi are really nice benefits to relax after a day of touring and the 24 hour store at the facility is convenient for a few snacks and sodas. They reception will even exchange Colones for you, so there is no need to exchange money before you travel to Costa Rica. If I had to complain, I would say that you can hear absolutely everything in the hallways from your suite. You'll be able to hear guests in the hallway and cleaning staff and their carts in the mornings. The air conditioning is almost non-existent, we only had one air con in the bedroom. The weather is actually really pleasant in December and January so cracking the windows felt wonderful. Overall, my stay was lovely and I enjoyed my interactions with the staff. They are very professional and friendly.

They are 2 for 2! Thanks for another great stay. Gym, pool, breakfast, kitchen, quiet. This place has all a fitness traveller needs.

Please stay here if you go to Escazú. The staff, amenities, and atmosphere are second to none. Truly excellent!

We arrived at this hotel late in the night with our two very young kids. it was great to be in a big space after being in airplanes all day. There was plenty of space. It was a clean facility and located near what we needed.

This apartment was great because we were six people and could all be together. However it needs updating. Handle in tub came off in our hand. Couldn't turn off the water until we used a butter knife to screw it back on. Water in the jacuzzi was not hot. Beds were like rocks. We did enjoy the ability to cook our meals. And there was a grocery store within walking distance.

Villas del Rio isn't perfect, but it has everything we needed. There is traffic noise from the street, but if your room is facing away from it, it is fine, so maybe request that. The people who work here are so kind, and have easy smiles. They should all get a raise! Very helpful, and made us feel at home. We felt very safe here. The pool is pretty comfortable, unlike more expensive hotels that seem to add ice water to theirs. Our deal from an online booking company beginning with an "O" included international calls! What a gift to be able to talk to our friends and family without hassle. The rooms are roomy, and the kitchens do include much of what you need to actually cook. Out of 6 Costa Rican hotels so far, this was the only kitchen to come with hot pads. Well done!

We had a Junior Suite which is really a nice place to be called a ¨home away from home¨. This place has a nice breakfast bar and happy hour. The reception desk was very helpful specially Ricardo. He helped us all the time to keep our stay comfortable.

Staff accommodated us well with an extra bed and followed-up on our comfort. The staff seemed to greet everyone with a smile. The breakfast is not the greatest, but it sufficed. Overall, a very good hotel stay.

Our stay here was mainly for dental care. However, we had time for three tours in Costa Rica. The staff were all extremely helpful, kind and fun people to be with. The location was perfect for the dentist and we had our own kitchen, which was very good.

The staff, the location, the amenities.. ufff, great great experience.

Our GPS didn't have this location, but when you drive around, it is on the intersection and has a sign on the hotel saying Villas del Rio. It took me a while to figure out how to get into the hotel as it is gated all the way around and there is no real driveway to go into and no signs that say 'entrance'. The suite itself was good. You could hear your neighbors pretty well though, so it doesn't have the best insulation. They had a nice gym though and a pool we didn't use. The buffet breakfast was good, consisting of fruits, eggs, ham, breads and croissants. Overall good stay.

A wonderful place for holidays or business. The rooms are big and equipped with stove and cooktop, a wonderful detail for vegetarians like me that like to cook their own food. The overall atmosphere was quiet, secure and business like even though there were many tourist and kids/teenagers. The stuff was impeccable and friendly and made me feel like a king. Do not skip the delicious breakfast buffet!

Hotel was nice, very large rooms, close to everything. They have contracted to have all kinds of food delivered if you want. My only complaint was pillows were very hard.

Good. Nice staff, all included in the fare (taxes, shuttle, breakfast, internet) Bad. Some problems with Internet, a lot of noise of the street enters the rooms.

I stayed at the Aparthotel-Villas Del Rio in San Jose, Costa Rica for a few days and the location was very convenient to everything. The staff was friendly and courteous and the room was immaculate. A little short on bathroom counter space but all in all a very good value. I would stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms are very spacious. Everything was very clean and, in fact, the rooms looked like they'd been recently renovated... everything except the shower in the bathroom which was the only thing that didn't look like it was straight from a store showroom. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel felt very safe with a guard on watch at the front gate, who controlled the gate. The breakfast the next morning was really good with lots of choices of fresh fruit and cheese and breads, cereal... there was a lot to choose from and everything looked very fresh. The pool was very nice - very clean, and the water was pretty warm. Internet WiFi didn't work in our room (and it wasn't user error :) ), but it should have (I could see the signal) but I was too shy to mention it to the staff and it worked fine in the lobby and up by the pool so that was good enough. The location of the hotel is along a very busy street, and although there wasn't a lot of street noise, it was a little intimidating pulling out onto the street and walking was a challenge (the sidewalks abruptly ended... but it is San Jose and that's not too unusual...) Overall, we were very very pleased by the hotel, and we had a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone... although I thought the hotel was a bit pricey for the area and if you don't need a super big apartment, there are cheaper places that are almost as nice.

Service was great and the apartment was very comfortable.

The staff was wonderful, especially Eunice. She even took time to call me about tours when she was at home and not working. She definitely went above and beyond. It would be nice if it had a restaurant of some sort and it was very loud, but I think everywhere is loud, so no big deal. The suite was very spacious and comfortable.

I was thrilled. This place was so much better than any upgraded suite at any hotel in the states. It had a real kitchen w/ large stainless steel fridge / freezer, oven, microwave, stove, dishes, utensils, pots, a measuring cup, tea kettle, coffee machine, etc. Not that you'd be cooking there, but it was a truly livable space. It felt like I was subletting someone's apartment in a really nice condo. There was a semi separate living room w/ futon couch, 2 bathrooms, then the Queen sized bedroom w/ a door for added privacy just in case there was a 3rd guest. My wife and I loved it. The layout and decorations are on point, efficient use of space, loved the wood trim. The pics don't do it justice. The surrounding neighborhood of Escazu is really exclusive with high end condo complexes, all in large walled enclosures w/ 24 hour guards at the gates. The hotel has the same setup, hence security is assured, but I did not see any vagrancy or suspicious activity on my evening walks. There a a few plaza's in short walking distance, but you'd probably need to get a cab to go to the nearby Multiplaza Shopping mall or the Central Downtown area, each ride should run you a little less than 6000 colones. The free Hotel's breakfast was not typical so you will not get Gallo Pinto there, but it's still great, most notably for the Paris-Grade Croissants that they serve, papaya and pineapple, assorted cheeses, and great smooth Costa Rican coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I tip my hat to receptionists Eunice and Yantzee, the rec'd taxi drivers were great too. The in-room WiFi worked after the tech helped me with it. The pool, jacuzzi and gym looked great but I never used them. We used the hotel mostly as a central hub from which we went on various tours. The only reason I gave the 4 as opposed to a 5 is because it would have been ideally situated if in short walking distance from the MultiPlaza. Overall, this hotel was great and if in Costa Rica again, this will be my 1st choice.
