This is one of the best Residence Inn's we have stayed in. The hospitality, cleanliness and dining facility is superior. Located in a beautiful area with lots of dinning and shops. Taxis are always available by the door and the cost of use is minimal. If you come here this is the place to stzay and eat.

The staff in general is very friendly, especially in the restaurant , her name is Marlen, she always is trying to help you in all, cleaning , putting all in order, etc, and Always smiling , she know perfectly " costumer service"

Always a pleasure to stay at the Residence Inn on Avenida Escazú in Costa Rica. It is an efficient and high quality operation. Special kudos to Natalia Castro and Melissa Pirie at the reception desk who are very client service-oriented and helpful. They make the check-in/check-out experience a pleasure. I have used the Res Inn for both business visitors, delegations and family stays. Natalia accomodated a situation of early check-in for my family with grace and Melissa handled the registration of a delegation of important visitors from the US with professionalism and perfect English. Kudos as well to the management who were able to resolve a situation of finding accomotations for an inportant visitor on very short notice last weekend. In summary, the Marriott Residence Inn on Ave Escazú is a first class operation, managed and staffed by first class personnel. It is a credit to the Marriott chain of hotels. I highly recommend the establishment.

My fiancé and I stayed at this Residence Inn at the beginning of a weeklong vacation in Costa Rica. We had some Marriott vouchers we needed to use by the end of the year and chose this hotel to use them. Hence, I can't speak much to the rates/value-for-the-money (it's probably great, but I don't actually know from experience); anyway, it is definitely a great hotel to use with Marriott's point system. It is more of a business hotel than a vacation hotel, especially at the beginning of the week - mostly visitors in suits, some meetings going on - but we did see a few other people with some backpacks like us. Similarly, the location of the hotel is, obviously, not in the center of San Jose - so you don't get that city experience (a plus for some, a con for others). For us, coming from NYC, it was lovely. This Residence Inn seemed a step up from the only other one I stayed in in the past - newer building, set up like a hotel (e.g., indoor hallways to rooms, instead of outdoor hallways typical of extended stay places). The suite was spacious and had excellent allocation of space to sleeping area, living room, bathroom, and kitchen. Very clean, very VERY comfortable. The service staff wrote us a welcoming message on the mirror as well - a very thoughtful touch. The best part about the hotel, though, was the staff. Everyone always had a smile and was willing to provide any assistance. In particular, the front desk attendant who checked us in was super friendly and welcoming. The bar staff - especially the capitán, Joice, and Ronnie - were outstanding as well. They were always happy to see us and excited to have a conversation (and help me with my Spanish). Notably, I was also impressed by their ability to give us attention while also balancing their other priorities. As ex-service industry myself, I give major props for that. Complimentary breakfast was impressive and tasty. The view from the upper floors is *beautiful*... but unfortunately, our window had some sort of architectural shading (i.e., metal vertical bars) that prevented truly excellent views from the room. There is a small beautiful pool - on a Monday afternoon, we were the only ones using it! Felt like a spa. Fitness center is small but clean and appealing.

Escazu us a beautiful, upscale area west of downtown San Jose. Residence Inn is in the midst of an upscale shopping center - pleasant walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Room delightful with kitchen, living room and bedroom. Breakfast buffet is delightful with many delicious choices and eggs cooked to order. Would definately recommend it.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. They try hard to find something to help you. Location is good. A short Uber/taxi to downtown. Close to multiplaza mall with free shuttle available which we took one time during our short visit. Natalia checked us is. Very courteous and helpful. Jonathan, Mayte and Marlen were super nice at breakfast time. Housekeeping was super responsive. Seems the place is well managed.

I am a platinum member and use the Marriott credit card. This place is a very good deal if you are using points. Also, if you have an anniversary credit for a marriott class 1-5 you can use it here, which is what I did. This place is pretty close to the airport if you are not arriving at rush hour. It was a great starting hotel when I arrived in Costa Rica for the first time and only needed one nights accommodations close to the airport. The next day I booked an Intero buss to take me to La Fortuna and this hotel was within their pick up zone so it was very easy. Because of my status I was upgraded and given quite a nice welcome. Regardless of status though this hotel has everything one might need if on business or on vacation. Located in a newly built up part of town it is close to good restaurants and stores. Hell, there is even a laser tag place and movie theatre near by. It does not have an airport shuttle but they will arrange one for you for ~$45 US which is pretty pricy. The nice thing in Costa Rica is that Uber is all over the place and one could get a cab or call an Uber very easily. Uber is your cheapest option and easiest to give directions if you don't know the language and you can just drop a pin to where you want to go. On the back end of the trip I stayed at the Marriott Costa Rica which is a straight up vacation resort very close to the airport. That is more expensive, does not qualify for the free voucher, and when using points will be about twice as many points per night than the Residence Inn. Depending on your needs I would recommend the Residence if you just looking for a nights stay while in transition to the rest of your vacation elsewhere in Costa Rica or if you are on a business trip since it has a kitchenette and the rooms are very big. The staff is incredibly friendly, the location is in a very nice area and the hotel is clean and modern.

Sofa bed was horrible. Main bed was good. Nice TV in the room. No fan in the bathroom as usual. Located in an upscale neighborhood with good shopping close by. Wifi was good, views were good. Very modern room with full kitchen. Very good free breakfast despite a kitchen in your room. Check in was easy, staff is friendly. Management is not fair. Read on...a major problem was that we had booked this place for two nights but due to a delayed flight in the winter time, we arrived at 5 am to check in. Essentially, we slept in this hotel for jus tone night since we arrived at 5am and we had a local tour booked that was starting at 6am. We expected that we would still get charged for two nights and that was OK. BUT WHAT WAS UNEXPECTEDLY UNFAIR AND UNTEHICAL is that we got a penalty of $85 approx. for NOT CHECKING IN THE FIRST NIGHT. We had no control over our delayed flight. We tried to correct this unfair charge but they wouldn't budge. This is gouging customers twice. What did it cost for them to penalize us just because we didn't check in the first evening?? They had already gotten our money for that unused night!

My room was perfect and really design for a smooth and comfortable long stay such mine for 2 month. Breakfast is outstanding and even better with the human warmth of the staff, thanks to all! Special mention to front Desk Melissa always pleased to help, Breakfast crew: Kimberly with her angelical face and pregnant belly, Marlen the ever smiling face and Maite for the delicious fruit juices she brought to me and the guys for Food&Beverage: Jonathan very kind and BBQ Master in independence day, Joice always awaiting for my arrival on Weds and Friday for the complimentary social buffet that hotel offer to the guest and Jose the Chef all the time aware that every thing is fine in the dinning room. Thumbs up for the team of room maids that cleaned up and shinned the room every day. There is no better place to stay in San Jose Metro Area than Residence Inn at Escazu. Hope to come back soon to Costa Rica nice country and spectacular people ! Frank

Get ready for fun, even if youre here for medical reasons! Costa Ricans love to celebrate! We arrived on the Day of the Child, and left on Independence Day. Less than a week. First of all, Residence Inn front desk personnel: We were greeted by Veronica, who is a ray of sunshine after a long flight from the US. Melissa and Natalia could not have been more helpful. The restaurant: everyone in the restaurant (breakfast only, but very hearty) is eager to help the foreigner. We were in CR for medical/dental reasons, and they were most accommodating regarding liquids-only diet. We find Costa Ricans to be genuinely kind, helpful people who go out of their way to be hospitable. Don't expect people to speak English – Bring your Spanish phrase book. The Residence Inn coffee is always ready and on your floor in a little sitting area, which is nice after a long flight into a different time zone. Don't waste your time going across the street to Starbucks – the coffee is much better here. If you need taxi service, you definitely want Arturo Cordero Elizondo (acoecr at hotmail) and his partners who are always at one of the 2 Mariotts in Escazu. The only drawback to Residence Inn is that they do not offer an airport shuttle, however we found the taxi drivers most accommodating.
