Sequoia Inn

Recent guest reviews

The hotel staff wasn't particularly friendly, but they were minimally accommodating. Make no mistake about it, this place is for those that value location and economy over aesthetics and extras. The rooms have not been updated in quite a while (Room 211 still has a CRT television), and much of the maintenance has been marginal (very noisy bathroom fan, and caulking that looks very poorly done - details people!). The only real inconvenience is the marginal parking on the property. All that said, I'm a repeat customer, and will probably be back. This is one of the closest hotels to the client I have in the area, and the rooms are clean. If you are not planning on spending much time in the room, the Sequoia Inn is just fine.

For the money, it was better than what I expected. The room was clean, linens were nice, bed was comfortable. Pillows a bit thin but ok. If you are a light sleeper the traffic noise may bother you. It is close to Stanford Medical which is why I was there. Plenty of places within walking distance of motel to eat at. This was a family medical emergency so I needed something affordable and near by. Wouldn't be my first choice for vacation hotel but under the circumstances it was perfect. Safe, clean and affordable in a very expensive area.

An impersonal little dive, cheap but not cheap enough to go back to.

Upon check-in, I was told they overbooked the hotel and that they were sending me to another hotel a block and a half away and they would pay for my room there. Crazy! I've never had something like this happen to me before. The other hotel, the Best Western Inn, was was decent/nice, so I have no complaints. It also looked a little nicer than the Sequoia Inn from the outside. (I can't speak to the inside because I never saw the inside of a Sequoia Inn room.) This hotel switch was very surprising, though it worked out fine.

Stayed for only one night after visiting Stanford. Very nice man at front desk. The room was small and had everything I needed, although I really didn't need much. About a 15 minute walk from the Redwood City Caltrain. I would stay again if I needed somewhere near Stanford.

I was just looking for a cheap hotel for myself for a short stay. It fit the bill to that end but nothing more. The room was relatively clean, but this is not your typical hotel. People do live in some of the rooms, including the owners who live in a room behind the office. Next time I visit I would probably spend a little more money for a location that is not as sketchy.

30 min from SF downtown on freeway. And many store near by at hotel.(gas. 7-eleven, starbucks and hambuger...) But some nosie from next door room. Yesterday few hours over night, I could not deep sleep becaus next room guest [*]

I just needed a place to sleep after a brief family visit. This motel provided that at a very good price.

Desk clerk was very friendly and delivered extra pillows and ironing board within minutes. The bathroom fan could wake dead people. I didn't expect a double bed, which was my fault. Nice TV with digital cable and a micro/fridge. Starbucks, donut shop just one block away. For a very quick one-night sleep this was OK. My objective was cheap/clean and this filled that bill.
