Host was a great communicator, both in checking in on us and in the house (every switch was clearly labelled!). The house was spotless and had everything we needed. We had a relaxing stay a block from the beach for sunsets.

First: Why are we qualified to make comments on this rental? Ans: For over 20 years my wife and I have made numerous vacation rentals of houses and apartments in Europe and the US.Second: Comments on the rental of 5066 Saratoga Ave, Ocean Beach, CA. Positive comments: This house was one of the cleanest and well-equipped we have encountered in any of the numerous rentals we have made. In addition, the house is very close to the beach and to the center of the Ocean Beach commercial district.Negative comments: This was easily the most frustrating rental we have encountered. The frustration stems from the fact that the negative aspects of our stay could have been easily eliminated by simply being given some thought by the rental agency and/or the owner.A summary of the problem is this: Weary travelers do not want to, and should not be expected to, spend time and effort puzzling out the basic operations of how to enter an unfamiliar rental property or how to use the items within it.1) Frustration started with our arrival at the house. The combination and mode of operation of the lock on the gate to access the property were not described in any of the rental literature provided to us beforehand. After many minutes fruitlessly attempting to enter the rental we were forced to make an emergency call to the rental agency which then had to call the owner to physically come to the property and open it for us. It was approximately 1½ hours after arrival that we finally were able

This is the perfect house, on the perfect street, with the perfect view of the ocean. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck in the morning, walks on the beach, the local eateries, cocktails in the evenings. The weather was great, and our days were just perfect.

Nice little house. Crummy neighborhood. You get one tiny parking spot. No truck or SUV will fit. Street parking is a constant battle because the houses are inches apart with minimal off street parking.

Visiting Daughter

The property is ideally located within walking distance to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. My wife and I enjoyed coffee on the front porch in the mornings and a glass of wine in the evenings. The home was clean and had everything we needed.

Great San Diego location

We really liked the unit and how close it was to the ocean and restaurants. We have always had good communication with VRBO but were disappointed in Vacasa. The washing machine was broken when we arrived on Wednesday. It had a note taped to it. I called Vacasa on Thursday morning and they said it would be repaired the next afternoon. We left fully one week later and had never gotten any communication from Vacasa.

Holiday Stay

Had initial problems just getting into the place. The electronic lock didn’t work so 25 minutes spent in contact with Vacasa finally got us in (lock never did work). That was after we had to wedge our rented SUV into the incredibly small parking spot behind the property. We actually had to take our rental back to get a smaller vehicle since this one wouldn’t fit. That should be better defined

Comfortable and peaceful

The home was extremely clean and comfortable. There was everything in the kitchen that you needed. The labeling of all the switches was very helpful. Even though we were in a flight pattern the home was very quiet.

Fabulous cottage

Cottage was fabulous. Location less than a block from the ocean. And had a parking space. We've stayed in different locations in Beach before and parking had always been a hurdle.

Fabulous rental

I stayed in this property for one month!!! This place was absolutely perfect!!! I love the closeness to the beach and to the town of Ocean Beach!!! This 1bed, 1bath has a huge deck that has ocean views. You're within walking distance to everything. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

Great Bungalow

We were very happy with our stay. The bungalow is very close to all the restaurants and shops (about 2 blocks) and close to the beach. All within walking distance. It appears to be newly renovated and was very clean. Off the street parking was a bonus. We would definitely stay again.

Ocean Beach

We are from hot Oklahoma and this was not our first time traveling to San Diego. We had a few requirements on this trip. I wanted to stay in something close to the water, with a designated parking spot, and air conditioning was a deal breaker for my husband. This property has all 3!!! It is a 2 minute walk to the beach and other shopping. The deck was our favorite place, as you can see the ocean. We will be coming back for sure!!

Beautiful unit, Terrible Property Management!

We were unable to access the unit at check-in due to a broken lock. Have had a terrible time with the property management company (Vacasa), lack in communication or customer service. Spent hours on the phone during our vacation trying to get assistance. Miserable experience. Two weeks later and still no responses and no reimbursement as promised. Wish I had not booked this property.

Lovely bungalow but...

This little house was immaculate and very close to the beach, stores, and restaurants. Unfortunately, it is right in the path of the San Diego Airport - so, every 5-8 minutes a plane would fly over VERY low and VERY loud. This went on all day until 2:45am. This should have been disclosed in the description of the house and the location. If you need to sleep, this is not the house for you.

Nice house near the beach

Heat in the living room did not work. Good response from Ralph who brought out a space heater. HVAC guy fixed it for one day and then it was out for 2 more days.

Bungalow near the sea

The house was perfect for our stay. It is in a great location to walk everywhere in Ocean Beach and a quick car drive to other towns like La Jolla or Old Town. It is furnished well and has plenty of kitchen supplies. Lock boxes make coming and going easy. Only drawback is the Wi-Fi is very weak. So if you need to work from there you need to have your own hotspot.
