This hotel was very pleasant to look at and staff were incredibly accommodating. We had 2 rooms, one was a suite and very roomy while the other was small but clean. Rooms were cleaned each day and towels changed daily if needed. Only downfall no brewing up facilities and 3 cups of tea (room service) cost €9. Breakfast times 7am-10.30am is very generous but we went down at 9.30 and there were no tables left so had to return at 10am. The food was basic and at times there was none left. The receptionists were very helpful booking taxis and recommending restaurants. I would recommend this hotel and ask for a larger room.
Cute hotel , very close to many features within rome. 10 minute walk to colloseum and trevi fountain , with a walking distance to the main terminal within rome. Rooms are big but are slightly dated, however adds a nice Italian touch if you arnt looking for something too modern. The courtyard is beautiful day and night . Just a great hotel over all!!!
We are still at the Domus Romana and are leaving tomorrow (Sunday). We have stayed here for around 5 nights and we found it to be an amazing hotel for location; there is a supermarket literally across the road, 10 seconds walk to the right there are 2 souvenir shops, and restaurants at either side. If you walk out of the hotel entrance and turn right you are onto the main road within a minute or so. Like I said, fabulous location. From the main road, if you walk straight up you come to the nearest tube station which I think is the republica. From the main road if you travel down to the bottom and turn left you are more or less at the colosseum. It’s just fab. We were at room 101 which was kind of dated, but had everything we needed so was functional for us. The maid topped everything up for us each day and made our bed, and she was lovely even if she didn’t understand our english😂 we had bed and breakfast which was very good, with scrambled eggs and bacon and then general continental stuff so was great for us to have to quickly get going to see everything for the day. The courtyard of the hotel with the fountain is beautiful. Being students, we could sit here at anytime during the day and do a little revision and it was such a perfect spot. For anyone reading this and wanting to see the attractions, the colosseum like I said is very close, possibly 10 minutes walk at most. The trivia fountain and pantheon also probably 10-15 minutes, but take a left out of the entrance away from the main road. The reason we give 4 stars is because we felt like the hotel was a bit cheeky. We didn’t actually realise until 2 days in, but in our room we were given a mini fridge with drinks already in. We presumed we were given these by the hotel (coca cola, sprite, Fanta, still and sparkling water) so gladly took them to drink; we thought it was a nice touch. However, just to check, today we asked whether the drinks were free, and they’re actually not. €1.50 for the cans and 90 cent for the water. We felt quite cheeked at this, because nobody had told us or made us aware that if we drunk the drinks there would be a charge; they were already in our room! If we’d had been made aware at check in, fair enough, but nobody told us this. So the hotel loses a star for that, as we were quite annoyed at this, to get surprising charges at the end of our stay. However, the hotel in general was great and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. The drinks at the bar are reasonably priced and it’s a great place to be for a break🙂
We stayed at the Domus Romana on our 3 night city break. It is an old building in a great location, and all the main sights within an easy walking distance. A short walk to the train station gives easy access to the airport too! The rooms are large, extremely clean, but as others have said could do with updating, with maybe a new bathroom, a lick of paint & new carpets. Breakfast was good - great choice of cereal, fruit, meat, cheese, breads & pastries along with bacon, scrambled eggs and boiled eggs. Only the coffee was disappointing and that was due to a temperamental machine! There’s a great little bar in the courtyard, prices are good and there are patio heaters. We loved this hotel for the location & breakfast & would return if we visit Rome again
Booked Domus Romana via Jet2 City Breaks, a double room for 2 adults with Bed and Breakfast and also booked transfers through Jet2 at an additional charge. We visited 7th to 11th December. The location of the hotel is excellent, it’s 15 mins walk to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Colosseum is approx 20 minutes. We also walked to the Vatican which took 45 minutes which sounds a long way but the walk is interesting and easy. Also walked to Trastevere district passing the Colosseum which took about 45 minutes. Everything else falls between the 15 and 45 minutes. The hotel is quite dated however the room we had was spotless, cleaned daily by the maids, with towels changed every day and if required the body wash and soap replenished. There is a hairdryer. The room had a large double with wardrobe space which had a safe free of charge, a dressing table and a flat screen TV. Also in the room was another wardrobe which surprised us when we opened it as there was a self contained kitchenette in it, this was dated but again spotless (see the pictures) and actually useful to have. There was a mini fridge. The hotel was plenty warm enough. Reception were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was continental with pastries, coffee, juices and water, hams, cheeses, cereals, bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, toast, jams and spreads, the only area it fell down on was the lack in quantity/variety of fruit. There is an outside bar which opens 4pm til 11pm and drinks are reasonable. Across the road is a supermarket a bit like a Sainsburys express where you can buy lovely sandwiches and picnic things and the prices are great, they also stock good wines. One thing I would suggest is not using the Metro, it is very busy and overcrowded, and not pleasurable at all, we did experience an incident, you really can get everywhere on foot and you walk by some lovely unspoiled areas getting to the main sights which you would miss. Would we go back to this hotel - yes.
We stayed here in early December, the room was lovely, large and warm. We had a room overlooking the courtyard one flight up. The bathroom was roomy, plenty of fresh towels everyday. There is a small bar, but it is outside, and at this time of year, too cold to sit out, even with the heaters. Breakfast we found very good, plenty of choice, Staff seemed friendly, very good location, not far from everything and close to the railway station. We would stay again
Good location, the only thing good to say. Really really needs putting to 1 or 2 star rating. Cleanliness of the place needs a good looking at, no hot water in the room. Sink felt like it was about to fall off the wall. Breakfast was of a poor quality.
Had a lovely four night stay at the Domus romana, staff friendly and helpful, rooms very spacious and clean. Good breakfast, including bacon and scrambled eggs. Perfect location in the city centre, ten minutes walk from the main tourist attractions.
The Domvs Romano Hotel was in an excellent location. The service very good. All staff spoke some clear English. Hotel was tucked away a wee bit from the hustle and bustle but a very small walk away from the closest metro station and the sights. The breakfast was fresh every morning with a good selection for all palates. The rooms a touch quaint they could probably do with a little makeover but it served its purpose admirably well. It was a little tired looking but spacious clean and well ventilated. I would certainly stay here again. There’s a convenience store across the street for basic items you might need. I’d highly recommend this place. Enjoy.
We booked through BA as a 4 star hotel, but don’t expect a true 4 star hotel. The rooms are spacious, but need updating. The room we were in needed new carpet, a paint job, as well as an updated shower/bathroom. That said, the courtyard is a great place to sit and have a drink and breakfast is quite good. The location is perfect right in the middle of everything. It’s no more than a 10 minute walk from/to Roma Termini, The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and a whole load of other sites. We would definitely stay there again if we find ourselves back in Rome.
