really nice hotel but breakfast area not big enough for number of guest in the hotel. staff unable to keep tables clear and not enough clean cups or plates. Don't have a room on the front of the hotel because of road noise that starts at about 5.30 /6.00
Rooms basic ***hotel. Breakfast fine staff just need to check for top up’s and clear tables. Reception staff over manned we were in room 101 for our Ruby anniversary the chap that dealt with our complaints was a gentleman nothing was a problem for him. It is a ideal hotel for sightseeing
This hotel has character, like Rome - it is a bit dated and shabby, but spotlessly clean with comfy beds and nice staff. The entrance is through an archway with the courtyard to the rear where you can have a drink at 5 euro. Rooms are small, like most of Rome, with a small closet nice firm bed and sheets changed every day we were there. We had difficulty with the heating in both rooms - we couldn't turn it down, but it was cold so we never raised it to have it resolved. Both the rooms overlooked the courtyard, a first floor and 5th floor with a great balcony. There is a seating area with a decorated ceiling on the 2nd floor if you want to sit inside where it is quiet. The breakfast was sufficient to get you ready for the day ahead and out the door turn left walk a mile or so and you are at the Spanish Steps. Turn right out the door and right again and you are about a mile from ancient Rome. Rome is a sightseeing break so you are not spending time in the room, but when you are the rooms are comfortable. Would I stay here again, definitely. It has charm character and nice staff, all you need for a sightseeing break.
We stayed at the Domus Romana Hotel from 11th to 18th February , and had a great stay there . The staff were so lovely and helpful , and all worked very hard . There was no problem when we wanted to upgrade to a room with a balcony after our first nights stay . Fabulous location and within walking distance to most of Rome’s famous landmarks. A good choice at breakfast - cereal , fruit, pastries, bacon and scrambled eggs , toast , crackers etc. Sets one up for a full day’s sightseeing . Staff are quick to clear tables . Nice little bar in the lovely courtyard was a very welcoming sight when returning from a days walking tour of this lovely city . Very friendly barman went above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable , and would bring crisps and cakes along with ordered drinks . It was so lovely sitting in the courtyard, next to the heaters enjoying a few drinks outside in February ! All in all , we had a lovely holiday staying at this hotel , and would definitely stay at the Domus Romana again .... the only thing I would say that’s negative is ... to whoever owns the hotel - support the great staff that you have and make sure that you carry out maintenance on your property . Decor was very poor in places , very tired looking and bordering on the decrepit .Doesn’t look like it’s been touched in 20 years , which is a shame but rooms are cleaned to a high standard and clean towels are available when required . It’s an old monastery and a beautiful building , but owners need to build on that fact and provide more information on the buildings history. Definitely needs a lick of paint in places , owners , get real and support your amazing staff !
At first arrival I was disappointed in the rooms but they ended up working out fine. One room smelled odd and it was stuffy. It felt more like a dorm than a hotel. We had 2 rooms, one faced the courtyard, the other faced the street. Street room had a lot of noise and we had to keep the window open because the room was too warm. But, I ended up enjoying listening to the outside noises and found it soothing. We all enjoyed the breakfast selections and the cocktails in the evening at the bar. WiFi was not great and we had a lot of difficulty connecting to it and had to do it every 3 hours which was quite annoying. Hotel staff was very nice. Pictures are view from the room window.
Stayed here for four nights 5th til 9tth March while it's a nice hotel a few things not up scratch the breakfast was very nice although if you're not there at the start the bacon and eggs were cold boiled eggs cold fruit juice watery . It's very handy for visiting the sights and the railway station. If you stay here it's not well sign posted and we walked right past and as it was raining wasn't happy.
We spent 9 nights at Hotel Domus Romana. Our room was spacious enough for the two of us, the continental breakfast was delicious with many choices, and we were within walking distance to most of the tourist spots. The staff was very helpful, calling a taxi when necessary, recommending restaurants, arranging our ride to the airport on our last day. The bar serves drinks and snacks at night and there is a lovely outside courtyard as well as a beautiful sitting area on the second floor. We highly recommend.
For me very average on arrival was given my room. Very basic only one wardrobe for two people to store clothes, thankfully I was only there for 3 days, the balcony door was broken it didn't lock and the window glass was broken reported to reception but no action taken, breakfast poor only scrambled egg bacon toast all cold and could only get toast when the toaster worked, plenty of cakes and sweets for breakfast but been diabetic this was not very good. On a plus note the staff are very friendly and the location is excellent for sightseeing. This hotel has four stars but sorry to say I have stayed in better three stars
Had a 4 night stay in this hotel ...overall very pleased. Double room was spacious and was cleaned everyday. We had a room on 2nd floor over looking the main road it could quite noisy early in the morning but if you shut the shutters it blocked out some of the noise. Breakfast was alright ...needed more hot selection but there is a varied selection of pastries cakes etc ....fruit choice was limited but overall was ok. The outside bar is pleasant and virtually all drinks €5 The barman was very friendly and was always around. We definitely enjoyed our stay in this hotel and in Rome.
Staff very sympathic. Very old hotel and in some places falling apart. Be careful with taps and door handles, they simply fall! Very poor breakfast and the staff, although friendly, is not professional. The dirty dishes pile up on the tables. Pay attention to the hard bread that is mixed between the other. Good localization. Not a four staff hotel.
