My husband and I just returned from a week spent at this hotel. We did not have very high expectations for our hotel, but, as New Yorkers we were expecting a very small room, and that is what we got. The receptionist who greeted us was very nice and spoke English. Our room was on the first floor which meant we heard EVERYTHING going on in the street (traffic, alarms, people talking on their phones, conversations, etc). It also meant that with the window open we smelled people's cigarettes from outside. As a nonsmoker this was a turn off. I would recommend asking for a room on a higher floor to avoid this. Our room was very clean and neat. The bed was not the most comfortable, but I guess that's a matter of personal preference. The shower was VERY small and it was almost impossible to take a shower without water spraying all over the floor (sorry to our maid!). One thing we had never experienced before was that you have to insert your hotel room key into the wall to get power into the room. The first time we went into our room it took us a few minutes to figure this out. Also, one of the outlets next to the bed had a usb port so you can charge your phone easily without worrying about a converter. The room did have a converter in one of the outlets as well! The hotel offered a nice selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, bread, pastries, and juice for breakfast. There were even some "American" breakfast foods such as scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon. Breakfast was very good. Special shout out to Laura who always did her best to make everyone feel welcome, even on Pasquetta when she was the only waitress! The location of the hotel is very good also. It is very close to main bus stops and the metro station. Buy a 24 hour metro ticket at the Tabacchi in Piazza Barberini (cash only). Overall, this was a very clean, nice hotel with accommodating staff. I would stay here again. Of course the pictures on the website make rooms seem MUCH larger than they actually are, but this hotel met all of our needs.
Stayed here from Thursday to Sunday with my girlfriend and couldn’t have asked for better. Originally supposed to come a month earlier but the flights were cancelled due to the snow. Staff were very helpful in re-arranging our booking through booking.com. Following this, the hotel staff were extremely welcoming and happy to help with every request from the minute we arrived. Location was spot on with the Trevi fountains only a 5 minute walk away. Room was small but very well furnished, with a fairly priced minibar! Had a useful free phone device which had lots of useful information for newcomers to Rome included in the room. Breakfast was simple but good quality and the breakfast staff were extremely friendly, always said hello and goodbye and by the third day they’d remembered us and our room number! So impressed with the above and beyond attitude from the staff therefore would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit the city. If we ever visit room again we will certainly be coming back.
My daughter and I LOVED our stay at the Barberini Hotel. What a lovely setting, great location, nice breakfast offering and much more. We had one issue in that the mobile phone offered in each room was not charged in ours. We counted on it after a long day of travel and ours being out of battery and the staff was not able to offer a back up. Beyond that, we can’t wait to recommend this hotel to our friends who travel to Rome.
Hotel Barberini is located on a quiet street but close to the main Roman attractions. Our rooms with balconies had fantastic views of Rome. The dome of the Vatican looked like a big gem at night. There was a wide selection at the delicious complimentary breakfast buffet. The architecture is charming but the amenities are modern and clean. The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating. I would stay in this hotel again whenever I get a chance to go back to Rome.
After posting a negative review on the lack of response from the Hotel Barberini, they promptly responded to my review explaining they had experienced technical difficulties and were very accommodating in assisting my fiance and I with our honeymoon booking at their hotel. Thank you for attending to our comments in such a prompt and professional manner. We are very much looking forward to our stay with you! (Note that there is no option to put a postdated travel date, therefore I chose the latest one available in 2018 as we are getting married this year) (As the month of our trip is not yet an option in the dropdown, I simply indicated a random month as it is mandatory to post the review)
Rated 4 stars for hotel - ABSOLUTELY don’t eat here though! Great small hotel within walking distance to tourist attractions. Very comfortable bed. We had a shower but friends had a bath so there is a choice. Rooms small but comfortable with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Cheapest mini bar I’ve ever seen - €1 water, soft drinks €2 alcohol drinks €3. Breakfast was included but nothing to rave about. I’d eat elsewhere tbh! Foolishly had dinner here - definitely give this a miss - microwaved packaged food. I had lasagna it was bland horrible and have eaten better shop bought. Husband had 4 cheeses pizza - just horrible. It’s a shame because it’s a lovely hotel and this ‘restaurant ‘ really lets it down. Either get a proper Italian chef to make fresh food or turn into bedrooms.
We stayed at this hotel unexpectedly in March 2018, just for one night. Our planned hotel nearby had a mix up with our room booking so they transferred us across to this hotel. We didn't mind, it all added to the Rome experience. As we were there for such a short period of time, we only encountered a small number of staff. All spoke English well and were very helpful. Reception staff were very efficient and keen to help answer any questions or suggest ways of enjoying our stay in Rome. At breakfast time we were served by a lady from Romania whose English was perfect and she was very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for her, eager to do all she could to make sure we enjoyed our meal. We asked about life in Rome and she kindly chatted for a couple minutes as it was quiet; this all adds depth and interest to our stay and much appreciated. Having a buffet breakfast in the roof-top restaurant was great - very nice food, good choice and pleasant being able to see some of Rome across the roof tops to help us get our bearings. During the evening we arrived, we had the opportunity of enjoying the private spa room in the basement (you have to book this at reception and pay a small fee). This was an unexpected feature of the hotel and a lovely experience (especially as it was quite chilly outside!). Our room, although fairly standard, was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and airy. We presume this was a mid-priced hotel. With this in mind we'd say it represented very good value for money and it would be hard to fault in any way.
The Hotel Barberini is in an excellent location, close enough to the sights and far enough away from the crowds. There is a metro station nearby which was really useful in getting around further afield on our trip and there are cafes, restaurants and bars at the Piazza Barberini less than 2 min away. The desk staff were helpful and welcoming when we arrived and offered us a room upgrade at a reduced price, but we stuck with our standard double room as we didn't need the extra space with a sofa. The room was excellent - high standard and very comfortable, warm and the wi-fi is good. The breakfast had a good selection of hot food (bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages) and continental. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful. Couldn't find fault with anything, would definitely recommend for a place to stay in central Rome.
We got good recommendation from our travel agent, yet one cant be really sure until the visit really occurs. And after 3 night stay we can certainly state that this hotel would be a great choice for a clean and welcoming hotel, centrally located, with friendly stuff and a delicious breakfast. An extra pleasant supruse we have had when we have found that each room get to freely use a mobile phone with free local and international calls and internet access ( all over, nit just in the hotel ). This "feature" served us well, and even saved us some euro 😊 ( cause we have't bought any sim prior to finding it ). definitely a place to come back to.
Lovely hotel , very clean and tidy . Sheets and towels changed every day and rooms cleaned also . The front desk staff are lovely and friendly and go out of their way to help you with tours and as such . The breakfast was fabulous . There was hot breakfast , buns, cakes , fruits , yogurts , cereals , you name it they had it . The staff that were on breakfast were sweethearts . Very patient on the desk as we were leaving there was very rude patron who obviously has no manners or people skills but the guy on the desk was very professional . Hotel only few mins walk to trevi fountain and around the corner to the hop on hop off bus . Would highly recommend this hotel .
