We traveled to the Rockford area for the Holidays and decided to spend a little extra for an extended stay room since we were staying for 2 nights...which, due to weather turned into three. A 1 BR unit here was worth the little extra vs a standard room at another property...kitchen area, living room area with a desk...very nice! Breakfast was good and the service was outstanding. Special thanks to Dee and Tory for their help with the changes in our reservation and check-in! My only rip is the "fitness center" You would think an extended stay property would have a decent fitness area. This one is a joke...it is a shoebox with 2 treadmills, an elliptical and weight bench all sitting side-by-side. No mats and no light weight dumb bells. You would think in this age of health consious travelers, a nicer, more functional fitness center would be implemented. Never the less, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
First, let me begin with the positives of my stay, because there were a number of them. The check in staff were very friendly and accommodating. The lobby was clean and I received good directions to my room. My room was very clean and had all of the expected accommodations from a Residence Inn. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were comfortable. I wished they had smart Tv’s so I could connect to Hulu or Netflix like other properties have, but this wasn’t a huge deal for me. The living room space allowed me to visit with family in a comfortable environment without having to hang out in the bedroom. The problems began the following morning. I had a long drive ahead of me and chronic health issues so I was attempting to get some extra rest. My do not disturb sign was placed on my door. Around 9:30 two staff, I assume from housekeeping knocked on my door and rudely asked me when I was checking out. I was floored. First of all there was zero apology for them waking me up, which would have been obvious from how I looked. I was angry to be awoken in the first place since my sign was on the door. I contacted customer care who forwarded me to the hotel with my complaint. The assistant manager responded by giving me 5000 bonus points (ok that is something but I spent 8000 and cash to stay there) and said sometimes people leave with that sign still on there door. It was 9:30, check out time is noon. I have NEVER encountered this at any other hotel because they have the ability to know when I have checked out and thus when it’s appropriate to enter a room to clean, or even knock on a door that still has that sign. It appears to be regular practice at this hotel based on the non apology I received and I would strongly consider not staying here if your rest and privacy are considerations in your hotel stay.
We have stayed at this hotel twice while visiting family in Rockford. We travel with a toddler and infant, so having a suite with a kitchen where we can have space to make and wash bottles and such is a plus for us. We found the rates to be very affordable in comparison to other decent hotels in town offering just an average guest room. The rooms have always been very clean, and the beds decent. The only complaint I have with this hotel is the lack of an awning area where you can pull up and unload luggage. Our first trip to Rockford was in April, and we had to carry our kids and luggage in through rain and sleet. Also, on our second stay we were not told that our room was located in the annex building, and the girl at the front desk watched us walk off with our luggage to look for our room in the main building and never said anything. It was only when we went back to the desk asking for help that we were told to go to the next building. Despite these few issues, we will stay here again.
Attended a convention in town and needed a place with everything. My wife and I and our daughter and her family shared a two bedroom suite. Two separate rooms with bath complemented a large common area with a full kitchen. Full sized fridge and stove with microwave, dishwasher, pots and pans, silverware and plates. Place was clean with a hot breakfast and nice pool. Nice area. Thug free. Highly recommend.
This hotel has two buildings so if you are going with a group and kids like to meet up in the hallway know that you might end up in separate buildings. They are in the same parking lot and totally walkable. There is an outdoor patio with fireplace that is nice to sit out at night. The staff did a great job of maintaining the posted hours for the basketball court and patio. No one would need to worry about noise because they kicked everyone out after the posted hours. Friendly staff. Good breakfast right price!
We stayed here for a weekend tournament, and it was just average. The room was set up kind of weird. There was only one TV that had was between the living room and the bed...so not everyone could watch the TV at once. It was nice that there was a stove top, full size fridge and small dishwasher. It had all the essentials needed in the kitchen as well, but we didn't take advantage of any of it. The bathroom was split, with just the shower and toilet in one room and the sink out in hall. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off the wall in a couple of areas and the toilet would run loudly and continuously...we had to mess around with it a couple of times to get it to stop. Housekeeping did a decent job, but he/she didn't replace the shampoo and conditioner and we unfortunately forgot to bring any, so we had to go get more from the front desk. We were in the second building, so thankful that the weather was nice enough when needing to walk to the other building. However, the buzzer on the door when entering from the outside was very loud and annoying. Another issue that happened was that not all of the girls from our team were able to book a room at this hotel (sold out), so they had to stay at a different one. They came over to our hotel to swim with their teammates and they got kicked out of the hotel along with the girls who opened the door for them. Couldn't believe that they weren't allowed to just swim with their team. Then, the lady slammed the door to the pool to make sure no one could get in. The outdoor patio also closes at 10pm apparently and the lady made sure to come out at 10:01 to tell us we needed to clean up and we had time before the light would turn off. Not sure why they needed to close the patio so early in the summer as the hotel right next door still had guests out on their patio after midnight. We were able to come inside and sit in the lobby though, just not outside. So, for the price we had to pay for the two nights ($350+), I really don't think it was worth it and would choose one of the other hotels right in the same drive the next time we are here.
We recently stayed here for four nights We had a two bedroom suite The room was spacious Check-in was easy The mobile app work well The hotel itself is conveniently located by many stores and restaurants The room was as expected The hotel it's self was fairly quiet There is a nice sized kitchen in the room Our biggest issue was with housekeeping We had asked for extra towels and washcloths We received them but then the next day they took them and left us with even less than what we started with They also did not restock the soap and coffee etc. Just a little thing that you should not have to ask for on a daily basis Also they did not run the sweeper in there every day and I only noticed it because our son had accidentally drop some things on the floor The pool area was clear Have to ask for towels down there because there were none available There is a nice sitting area outside with a grill Breakfast area was clean Food selection was OK On the weekends they gave you a paper plates and plastic ware to use
I stayed at this hotel recently on a business trip. The service was excellent. I got upgraded from one to a two bedroom suite when I checked on the app on my way there. The suites are updated for the most part, except for the bathrooms, but overall it was in great shape. Breakfast buffet was an added bonus. I would stay there again.
My high school age son and I stayed here over a soccer tournament weekend. The room was excellent. The bed very comfortable, the layout smart with a turnable TV, a full desk and pull out couch. This room could have easily slept 4 of us if our whole family was there. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and the person responsible for the breakfast even early so we'd have the full breakfast at 6:45am instead of 7am on Sundays. The only reason this is a 4 and not a 5 is that I thought they should serve breakfast on real plates and utensils. The food was good for a self service but eating off paper plates and using plastic utensils was disappointing. It was also very nice we could walk to a great dinner spot (Tavern on Clark) from the hotel. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Rockford!
I visit Rockford once to twice a month and always try to stay at the Residence. The only complaint I have is that last-minute booking is near impossible as they are often full. I have stayed in dozens of Residences across the country and this is only of my favorite. The rooms are always quiet and comfortable and it might be silly, but it's nice to have that bag of microwave popcorn waiting for you in the room after a long travel day. The evening mixers always have good hot food (very nice when there is a foot of snow on the ground and -20 degrees outside). Guaranteed Brianna will greet you with a smile and offer you a beverage, and if you go down more than once she will greet you by name from then on. These are only Mon-Wed so Thu you are on your own for dinner. Good upscale bar behind the hotel within walking distance as well and a seafood place out-front, but it is very pricey and not that good. They upgraded the breakfast a few months back to include more flavorful and healthier options, a big plus. Exercise room is a little small, but I go early so no troubles getting a treadmill. Outside grounds are nice, few outdoor couches and a grill if your into cooking yourself. The rooms are what you'd expect at a Residence for amenities, stove, full fridge, microwave, dishwasher, all the comforts of home. Two-bedroom varieties have a fireplace, but they are wood-burning and no free wood around, so I never used them. Gas would be nicer. All-in-all my preferred hotel in Rockford. very comfortable, very inviting staff, easy highway access, etc.
