We stayed in four different hotels in Rochester, as our house was being remodeled. This was my least favorite. There is a neon Hello sign as you walk in, it is the friendliest greeting you will get here. The desk staff is usually in the back room, and none of them that I saw in 5 day’s offered a greeting first. We had to change rooms because tv’s did not work, the rooms are big and bright, but every surface you touch is dirty and greasy. I saw people putting garbage in the hallways as housekeeping is sporadic. There are not enough housekeeping people working here. The breakfast staff watch the food line and keep the area clean. They need a good head housekeeper, if the halls and elevator ever get vacuumed I’d be surprised, and they need a desk staff that at least pretends to like people.
Made reservations for two nights, thankfully we were able to move out after our first night. Room: the room was worn and dirty. Two of the four burners did not work. The plug in the bathtub was also broken. The mattresses need to be replaced. They were just terrible. Pool: pool and hot tub are both nice and warm. The hot tub itself was great and you can see your kid, so that was a plus. The kids pool was run down. There is a pipe sticking out of the bottom that is unmarked. The manager seemed shocked that I suggested they mark the pipe. Clearly she has never kicked it in the water chasing kids. Entrance/ greeting: check in was okay. Cleaning is NOT a priority at this hotel. It was a brown slippery slush pile to get from the counter to the elevator. Breakfast; I know they say breakfast is at 6 and the first shuttle is 610-615. I had wanted to get a quick bite before heading out. When i left, breakfast was still not being served. Don’t know if it was an isolated incident or a pattern of behavior. Everything else is below par, I should of readjusted my expectations. Overall: terrible hotel! Hopefully it’s due for a remodel. After our first night we moved to Springhill Suites (also a Marriott). They were fantastic. Clean room and friendly staff was a plus. Don’t let the Towplace fool you with the “kids” pool.
We had a larger room but the quality was average. It looked like they had tried to do some updates but they were not done very well. The price of the hotel is also to expensive for the quality. Not very well kept. The staff was very nice.
We normally stay downtown but the prices were ridiculous that evening some reason so we picked this hotel based on price. The rooms were clean but the kitchens were sparsely furnished. The bed was very comfortable. The pool had a water park so it would be good for families. The work out room was better than average. The girl at the desk was probably in her teens and not very helpful. The location is a long way from downtown and the shuttle was shared with other hotels. I would have had to be on the shuttle for an hour to get to my appointment. One nice thing about staying out that far is that it was very quiet. They did have one of the better breakfasts I have had in a lower-end Marriott. If you are looking for a good bargain this is probably a good bet.
Stayed at this location in September for trip to Mayo. The room was very basic, and it is easy to tell this is Marriot's lower end chain. Room was clean, and spacious. Just not the nicest furnishings in the world. Biggest complaint was main door to room from hallway had like a major gap that you could see right out into the hallway. We were there during week, so very quiet. Best part of this hotel was the attached pool area. It was huge, with slides and stuff that kids would love. Breakfast was good. Shuttle to Mayo ran every hour, but stopped at 5 other hotels so wasn't the fastest option in the world. Would stay here again on our next trip if the price is right.
Three stars is a push for this hotel. The place is not well kept and the rooms were not up to par. The furniture even had odors and the carpet is worn. We check in late afternoon and staff on duty were not very Helpful. We get to the room and both trash cans are overflowing in the suite and not a pretty picture. Yes, disappointment, but no one seemed to care. The good. Breakfast was great and the day staff was friendly, eventhough they were folding laundry at the desk for the hotel. Oh Well
Stayed at the Towne Place Suites for a family reunion. Rooms were definitely worn, clean but worn. The Suites advertised that it holds four people in a King Suite which is not completely accurate. The sofa sleeper "might" be a full size bed OK for two little children, not teenagers. We had to get a roll a way which was provided at no cost. Both the sofa bed and roll away were WAY below par on quality, I actually felt awful subjecting my Daughters to it. Complimentary breakfast was fine. Pool area for the kids was good. This hotel is what it is, a $100 night suite, nothing fancy. On one other note the location is good with a short walk to Target and some other shops and restaurants.
This hotel is 14 miles from I-90 and a bit hard to locate. Alot of these Towneplace Suites seem to be showing their age so we are going to steer clear of this line till Marriott gets them up to standard. Kudos go to the staff though for working ard to please. Thanks
I was very impressed by this hotel. The water park was great for kids under 10. It was clean and the water temperature was perfect. The fitness center was fine. It was extremely hot and the equipment could have used some cleaning but it served it's purpose. Breakfast was great for the crowd we had. There was something for everyone-a good variety of hot food, cold food and it was constantly being restocked. The rooms were clean and very large. We had 2 identical rooms next to each other for our family of 8 with a king bed in a bedroom and a pull out couch in the other & a small kitchen. A roll away bed fit very nicely in the kitchen area. I highly recommend this hotel as the price was less than $100 per night. My only real complaint is this.....we did not bring our beloved, little white fluffy canine family member because they charge $100 per pet! That is an outrageous price so he just stayed home with Grandma instead. The hotel was seriously FULL of pets. I am not even exaggerating, there were at least 16 different dogs that we saw (most of them were huge and several were quite loudly barking) and they all paid $100?!?!?!? We've brought our little guy all over the country, he's stayed in ritzy hotels in D.C., Time Square, California, etc. and we paid less than that for him and sometimes only a deposit that was returned. He doesn't shed, hypoallergenic, doesn't have accidents, doesn't make noise and to pay $100 for him to stay at a hotel in Rochester, MN is ridiculous. End rant. So, since we take Jasper with us almost everywhere we go, we won't be returning here because I can't justify paying $100 to bring him along.
My daughter had a dance competition in Rochester and the director of her team selected this hotel for the group but we were so glad! I hadn't stayed in an extended stay place before so wasn't prepared for the amenities - including full kitchen with dishes and everything. There was a nice desk that would have been great if I had work to get done. It was also nice to have a TV in the living area and the bedroom so there was no competing over what to watch! The only downside was the couch was small and even though there was room for us to have some friends hang out there was no place for visitors to sit.
