The hotel was close to beach and the staff are helpful. The rooms are not well maintained. Stained ceiling, peeling bathtub caulk, cracked tiles & hard bed. Entertainment & food is mediocre.

We experienced a water leak in the bathroom during our stay. Within an hour of notifying the hotel staff, an arrangement to move us to another room which was a definite upgrade. The hotel staff picked up our luggage, moved it to our new room. A very satisfactory resolution to the problem.

The hotel very nice location service very good the only complaint the hotel at night not much entertainment no music to 8 30 pm the food at the restaurant good the best it’s krystal restaurant the buffet good mexican restaurant not good but the rest very nice thank you riu see you soon.

Nice .... but old. Buffet was nice but wish it was warmer. Gets cold. Wish bathroom had separate room for toilet. Or wish the bathroom had an exhaust fan. Staff was really nice. And when you show up. Make sure you say good morning to the maintenance staff clipping grass /or sweeping. They need recognition too!!!

Nice hotel, needs some updating in the bathrooms The electrical outlets did not work for charging the phones

Hotel is great. Furthest room three minutes walk from the beach. WiFi very good and works even at the beach! Staff are amazing, very helpful and professional. Food is great. Christmas Eve dinner is a feast. Resort decorations for Christmas very beautiful. My family and I had a wonderful time. This is our second time there because we like it so much!

Overall fantastic relaxing very good experience My only advice for the hotel is ....Nesspreso!!!!! The coffee was. A notch below expected

Rude staff at check in compromised stay Poorly handled

Wonderful hotel, staff, and beach. Special thanks to Enrique for his outstanding service on the beach. Also, thank you to check-in stuff for upgrading us to the room with beautiful terrace.

Bathroom sink clocked, patio door lock broken, TV does not work, sauna never was turned on, beach towel station often do not have fresh towels, special restaurants vary low quality. at sport bar you have to pay extra for everything(pool and other games). Staff are trying really hard to do job, no help from management. Evening show never start on time or being canceled without notice. I can keep going on but in simple words RIU no more than 2 stars,

The staff were super friendly and always taking care of us. The beach was a nice walk down through the pools to get to. And the food and drinks were amazing!!! Best place I ever visited. I definitely plan to go back and taking friends this time:)

Excellent time spent there. Had a lot of fun, ate too much, drank too much. Awesome time pent there

Overall the experience was great. There were a few things that could be improved. One sink was not working properly since the beginning to the end of my stay. All staff was very professional, especially waitresses and bartenders.

this was my 8th trip to this property. the staff, room, food is over the top. a 5 star at best. I also have enjoyed stays at other RIU resorts with the same results. Wonderful place to relax, enjoy yourself.

Everything was great from check in till check out. We will definitely be back everything was great.

Older hotel that needs renovation and upgrade all around, to make it the number one that it use to be. The workers are superb, they will do anything to make you feel welcome and comfortable and always with a smile. Mr Dominguez and Gustavo, at the buffet resturant theyi are a great asset for the entire hotel, very attentive to all your needs and always have a "yes sr" to all your needs with a great smile. For my bday they went above and beyond of regular service having the chef making a special shrimp dish and the most tender beef that I ever had not to mention that he took his time to decorate the table with balloons and confetti and beautiful cake . Just a nice place To celebrate your bday. Thank you guys, you are amazing!! I can't wait to return!

Second time staying there and would go back again in a heartbeat.

Visited from Brownsville, TX for 7 days in July - Hotel is very nice with a fabulous & safe location but it is the staff throughout that made the stay so great. From the front desk personnel, bartenders, restaurant personnel, to the people cleaning the rooms & raking the sand by the beach EVERYONE we came in contact with was pleasant, attentive, warm, and approached their tasks with a clear sense of pride. Like visiting anywhere, there were a few oddities such as electrical switches that had to be set in a particular sequence to allow the ceiling fan to work and a few quirkie minor "rule" type issues that are laughable but overall a wonderful experience.

This is our third visit in four years to the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. We have enjoyed every stay. The hotel is beautiful with very good all inclusive food options. Drinks are good for all inclusive, as well. The beach area is one of the best we have ever been to. There are plenty of chairs, the water is so clean and blue so getting in is perfect and walking it is enjoyably too. The staff at this hotel is exceptional. They work so hard to make your stay relaxing and carefree. The entertainment staff is fun and friendly. Some of the nightly shows are great and some not, but it's all part of the experience so give them a try. The Riu Palace Riviera Maya is nicely located. You walk out of it going either direction for something to do. One way you'll get to go to the other Rius for breakfast or lunch or shops down the street. There is a fun area for pictures too. If you go out the other direction you can walk or take a short cab ride where you will be on 5th Avenue for some great chain store or local shopping. One caveat to first timers is that some of the vendors will try to get you in to their shops by telling you they recognize you from the Riu Palace and they were your waiter last night, etc. They don't really recognize you they're just seeing your Riu wristband and using it to their advantage. :) The shops on 5th are fun and there are many dining options. Cons - Hotel needs to repair the large pool as many tiles are coming off. Tile floors in rooms get very slippery.

Had a good time but got ripped off from the Scuba Caribe station that is next to the pool of $224.00. This hotel used to be a lot more fun but not this time. And definitely ALOT MORE WHINY KIDS!! Next time I will look for an ADULTS ONLY hotel!!
