Courtyard by Marriott Richmond West3.0 out of 5.0

Spent 4 nights at the Courtyard Richmond West. The room was awesome, comfortable and very clean. I stayed on the first level with a walk out to the court area. Also the lobby and restaurant stay was fantastic. Claudia Trujillo was very friendly and helpful. She provided me personal attention. I am in town again soon and will stay here for sure. Best Courtyard I have ever stayed!
I stayed one night at this property since I was in town for a sports tournament. The front desk staff was super friendly and changed my room from a King bed to two Queens with no hassle. I was given a "gift bag" which included a bottle of water and Chex Mix along with a coupon for something that was not sure of. An explanation would have been great. The layout of this hotel is convoluted as other reviewers have mentioned. The elevators are tucked away in the back of the hotel. It wasn't a big deal to us since we moved our car to the back and utilized the door from the parking lot right next to the elevator. The location of the property is on a busy road with many big box stores and restaurants. I would imagine if you were in the front of the hotel that you would hear some traffic noise. The room was spotless. The only things missing were a USB port and shampoo. I had stayed in a Courtyard the weekend prior and my room had several of each. Since I forgot my charging block, the USB was an issue for me. The walls unfortunately are paper thin. The literally could have a full blown conversation with the guests next to me with no issue. Thankfully, they went to bed before midnight so it didn't keep me up. I would imagine if you had noisy neighbors that it would be problematic. The hotel was in good condition, I noticed a security guard and the staff was pleasant. For my one night stay that was all I needed. Just wish I had an USB port.
Excellent, top notch, exceptional customer service. All staff were extremely attentive, and went above and beyond to enhance my stay. The front desk staff, Adam, Claudia & Kitty all served to make my visit pleasurable and memorable. I will return and recommend to others!
The restaurant attention by Claudia, Kitty was absolutely excellent demonstrating a great sense of customer service values. I felt like home no only the fresh food and coffee but the fast and friendly attitude!
Just came through for business this time, but claudia in the cafe and the front desk staff were awesome. I had two packages sent here and there was no issue. My mornings were also perfect with breakfast served up.
I find this hotel to be updated, clean and the service to be top notch. Have food and a bar in the lobby. Located conveniently close to downtown and the fan. Great business hotel much less expensive than downtown. Stay here Everytime in town.
The staff is friendly and helpful and the bistro is your typical Courtyard bistro. It's just that the rooms are a bit dated and need of an upgrade. Also, the layout of the hotel lends itself to a few long walks to your room. There is nothing the hotel can do but just a bit inconvenient. The hotel is in a decent area so a number of restaurants in the area, just not walkable as it's on a fairly busy street.
Great location! Excellent service! Clean Room! Miss Claudia at the Bistro Cafe makes you feel like home!!!!! Food was great! Tasty Coffee as always and everything so clean and confort! First class hotel!
Minutes off I-64, for a campus visit to University of Richmond just 8 minutes away, you can't get any closer. Outside of downtown RVA, the city is low-rise and low density, the courtyard model of Marriott's product line fits right in. I haven't been in an old one for 15 years although the brand new ones were very impressive, so I didn't have my hopes high. But apparently, Marriott has the older courtyard properties updated on the inside. Being older, it's very spacious, and now stylish. The vanity is outside of the bathroom so 2 persons can clean up at the same time to get ready for bed. Smart. The mini under-counter frig is empty which surprised me. Normally you find bottled water or other beverages for a fee but there is a vending machine out in the lobby by the cafe. Speaking of which, it's a welcome change that breakfast or snack is cooked to order but then you pay for it separately from your room charge. Most complimentary breakfast in hotels are worthless in the US so you might as well buy your own. But it's most likely not a sustainable business model because the cafe won't get outside customers and most guests assumed breakfast is included, if not, then there is nothing that prevents them from going out and go where they have better selections & pricing, say, Panera or Perkins, unless they are under time pressure. Another guest inquired at the front desk regarding complimentary breakfast and turned away, as we did. Nobody was buying breakfast and I felt terrible for the staff who stood there waiting for customers.
I stay at many Marriotts - this one is not my favorite. Yes, it's clean, quiet, plenty of parking and the staff is friendly and helpful. I definitely agree with the reviewer who commented on the odd placement of the elevators and the lobby. Depending on where your room is you might walk miles to get to the lobby even if you park by one of the side entrance doors. The room had a refrigerator but no microwave. The lobby store was poorly stocked compared to other Courtyards I've stayed at. The bed was not as comfortable either. However, my biggest complaint was the noisy air conditioner that kept us awake most of the night. When I called the front desk I was told that it "probably needed a part" and I would receive extra Rewards points for the inconvenience. I'm still waiting for those.
