Where to begin? You walk into a pretty nice, updated lobby and think, "this is promising." But then the front desk guy seems like he'd rather be in the back playing video games. You get to the 2nd floor and realize that this non-smoking property is actually a marijuana convention. For 3 days, the ENTIRE 2nd floor smelled like weed. The next morning, you go down for breakfast and the quantity is limited. To their credit, there is a nice selection, just not much left after all of the people, who apparently come from outside, have eaten and packed backpacks and hoodies with food to-go. I love that this property feeds those in need. I'd love it even more if there was enough breakfast for paying guests too. This last one wasn't the property's fault but was so memorable that I had to include it. I was waiting for the elevator when an older couple came up to wait as well. When the doors opened, I stepped aside to let them go in first. On her way past, the lady looked at me smiling and said, "oh, you must work here", because there is no way that a courteous Latino could be a guest at the hotel. I got back to the room and laughed my way through telling my white wife about that experience. She was so mortified that she apologized on behalf of all white people... so we're good there.

I arrived and was told that there was a $100 deposit that I wasn’t aware of. The room had tore and tattered curtains and the red chair had multiple stains on it and should have been tossed. I stayed at another property the night before with the same set up and decor and although it could use an upgrade at least it was clean.

When we arrived there were people hanging out all around the entrance. After 11pm there was a knock at the door and the person stood to the side so he could not be seen. We tried to call the front desk and the phone in the room wouldn’t work. We tried and tried to call with our cell phone and after several tries someone answered. He looked around and didn’t see anyone but did see the stranger on the video feed. Then the same stranger came back and demanded we open the door and tried to get in. We called the front desk again and were told they were calling the police. This time a different person answered the phone and told us she let the guy in and that he was looking for someone and showed her a picture of a person she had not seen. Still she did not tell him to leave but let him stay in the hotel. The doors are locked at 11 so she had to have let him in. We were told the police were at a nearby hotel looking for the same man. Needless to say we got little sleep. We have stayed here numerous times in the past and it has always been a nice place. Apparently that is no longer true. As if the above is not enough, the carpet is dirty and wet in places. The bathroom floor is dirty with mold on the bathroom walls. This Country Inn and Suites in Chester, VA is definitely not up to the standards of Country Inn.

Have stayed at this hotel once or twice a year for 10 years, but no more. Bathroom sink spewed rusty water that took almost 5 minutes to clear. Desk clerk said facility had been working on water system but it was supposed to be fixed. I bought bottled water to drink during our stay. Was disappointed in the room furniture, one chair and an uncomfortable plastic couch to sit on. One of the exterior windows would not close all the way and the screen outside it was ripped off at the bottom. The room was too cold and the a/c could not be adjusted. We finally just turned it off. It was nice to see that they finally had coffee available in the morning; however, it was very, very weak. Very disappointed in our stay.

staff very friendly, location is convenient but for the price the rooms are extremely tired looking, furniture looks cheap and old

We arrived to the property after long hours of drive, check in process was quick and smooth but as soon as we enter the our room we notice that the room was used and not cleaned, immediately went down to the front desk and notified the supervisor but he told us that they didn’t have any other room available for us and not housekeeping in house to clean the room….. really????? a full house hotel and not housekeeping? We end up booking a room in another hotel in the area. Not a good experience.

EVERYTHING

I’ve stayed at other Country Inn properties and never had any complaints but this stay, the desk had not been cleaned as there was something sticky spilled on it and you could see the cup rings still there. The curtains were ripped, the bathtub had someone else’s hair in it and lots of it, not just a few. It was loud in the hall and in the middle of the night someone was knocking on my door, which I did not answer as I was alone this stay. The carpet was dirty, the stains were visible. I will no longer stay at a Country Inn and take the chance of wasting my money, and I have never left a bad review anywhere I’ve stayed.

I stayed a week. It was ok, I had to ask for towels everyday and had to wait a few times which was annoying!

Terrible. The smell in the room is nauseating. Carpets are filthy and sticky in the rooms. Stains are everywhere including carpet, chairs, sheets. Rooms and hotel need a serious renovation. The price to stay here does not reflect the quality.

The desk staff was exceptionally helpful

Check in was easy with friendly staff but was informed the elevator was broken and our room was on 3rd floor but other than that nice stay.

I wa there 3 nighys and did not see house keeping once. The breakfast was very sparse.

The smell of marijuana in this hotel was overwhelming. One particular night the smell was so strong it woke me up at 3am. The pool and hot tub had been drained and appeared to be under repair. Room cleaning service is not available until after you check out but you can get extra towels at the front desk.

We should have been informed prior to booking that the pool had been drained.

Elevators were out if order, breakfast provided was a apple, danish and water. I had to
