Quality Inn

The Quality Inn in Pierre is a generally good, clean motel that charges very competitive rates. I have stayed there for one night in each of the last three years and been reasonably satisfied. One very odd thing this year, however…. My son and I checked into our room and used the lavatory. It turns out the toilet seat was not secure on toilet. Indeed, we simply lifted it off the toilet. With seat in hand, I went to the front desk and explained the problem. The young lady at the desk gave us another room, to which we immediately went. But it turns out that the toilet seat was on the lavatory floor in that room. Back to the front desk and the gal assigned us to another room – which she went to check before giving us the key. She came back and assured us that the seat was solidly affixed to the toilet, which it was. This was a very odd experience. It is almost like someone (with a pass key) was playing a practical joke or something. The toilet seat issue notwithstanding, again, this is a very reasonable motel for the price. I will stay here in the future.

This is one of the best Choice Hotels I have stayed at. The room had both a microwave & refrigerator & the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. The breakfast has cheese omelets, bacon, sausage & gravy in addition to cold foods. I wish all Choice hotels were this good.

Noisy, Kids running in hallway and yelling. Beer party in lobby. When I said something to the staff about the noise, the acted like I was the problem and rolled their eyes at me. Could have been cleaner. Price would have been ok if I was happy, but I was not. Could have been cleaner. Found a bug climbing the wall in the room. Pool was closed and green. Had to call the desk to find out what the hours where for Breakfast because the did not tell me when I checked in. Breakfast was good, but the layout could have been better, but that was not a big thing. Have stayed at other Quality Inn's in past with no issues.

We had requested a room on main floor as they don't have an elevator. We were put on second floor with lots of stairs to go up. Later we found out they were only half full. The pool looked concerning as it had a greenish appearance. Breakfast was typical of Quality Inn's. A surprising touch, was chocolate chips cookies at the front desk when we arrived. Staff were courteous.

Well, I suppose this is an average Quality Inn. I've had better. The employees allowed noisy, obnoxious (YES, I will say "obnoxious") kids run around the hotel, up & down the stairs with their elephant feet and making lots of noise. Hello??? There are no elevators, so my large heavy suitcase was quite the load to drag up the steps to the 2nd floor.

The pool was teaming with dead bugs and looked filthy because the bottom desperately needs to be painted. My children were afraid to go in the pool because of how run down it looked. There was someone's old towel left in my room giving the impression that my room had not been cleaned. The favorite part of a hotel visit for my kids is a bucket full of ice they can suck on..... you guessed it the ice machine was broken and when I asked at the front desk the employee was very not all that friendly about it.

This hotel is looking its age, and is very dated and tired. Hopefully if it does get renovated, they will get rid of the shower over the tub - the curved shower curtain does not make up for the discomfort of having to clamber into a tub to shower. The front desk staff were friendly. OK for one night but I wouldn't want to stay too long here. I had a room right down the back of the hotel, so it was nice and quiet. Breakfast area does not offer much seating when there are many people wanting breakfast at the same time.

There was no ice. The ice machine was broken. The pool was not open. Closed for repairs. There was no remote in the fitness center to change the channel on the TV. There was no yogurt at breakfast. The bread tasted old. The only positive comment I have is that they did have fresh baked cookies when we checked in. They were delicious! And the room was clean.

The staff was friendly, room was clean & the breakfast had a great selection. The pool on the other hand- very cold (had to ask the staff to turn up the heat) & very dirty- literally swimming with bugs. Hope the pool area gets a good cleaning & upgrade or we probably wont be back. With young kids the pool is a big thing.

Desk clerk and others standing at entrance smoking. Ashtray right at front door. Could smell the stale cigarette odor 50 feet away. One bed looked as if it had not been changed. Sheets dirty. Hair in bathtub.Room smelled moldy and of cigarettes. Was told later that rooms on upper floors were nicer. Did not stay.
