Governor's Inn

The hotel is generally clean and, despite being a somewhat depressing setting, provides what one might expect for Pierre. Don't expect up-market customer service or your pick of rooms here, so bring ear plugs in case you end up on the back side by the train tracks (a problem in just about any Pierre lodging). Until a Hampton Inn shows up out on the bypass, this might be as good as it gets.

We spent Thanksgiving in Pierre with family and really enjoyed our stay at the Governor's Inn. It was clean, good beds, good breakfast and good staff!

Great value. Staff was very nice And easy to work with. Room was very clean and comfortable. Rates were very low compared to similar motels. If your looking for low cost clean comfort with no frills, this will work.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better value proposition. Clean room; attentive, friendly staff; good facilities (cold pool though); comfy bed; yummy waffles for breakfast; all at a very reasonable price. Big thumbs up!

We arrived at the front desk, and the clerk double charged us for the room....we had prepaid when we booked , and the clerk charged me again, and tried to blame company we booked thru. There was some sort of Family Reunion thing going on, so there were children and adults alike running up and down the hallways. The pool was full of rowdy teenagers and was not safe for my daughter, so she had to wait until they left before she could play. Loud talking out side of our door until well past midnight...Over all it was not a pleasant stay at all....We will think long and hard before we get a room here again.!!!!!

Pretty standard set up as far as hotels go, but the staff went out of their way to make it that much better. The rooms were clean and quiet. The building is not new but they have kept it up and clean. My room had a new(er) heat/AC system which was very quiet and functional. There was free soup and cookies in the evening. The only slightly negative comment I have was their free breakfast- there was nothing wrong- it just was the same over the 4 days I was there. I was in town for a hunting trip with friends. Some of them brought their dogs which the hotel allowed. Hotel was hunter friendly. I have been in a lot of hotels in big cities and small towns. This one held its own against some newer places in town where I have also stayed.

I stay at the Governor's Inn every time I visit Pierre. The rooms are spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. At this last visit there was new carpeting in the rooms. The beds are very comfortable and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I always feel welcome and comfortable at this hotel.

The pool room was extremely cold--Parents sat around with pool towels on them to stay warm while the kids swam. Continental breakfast very average--not much variety. Rooms clean and everything in working order

We woke up at 2 am and wanted to get a little exercise and coffee. The clerk directed us to the breakfast room where we talked and enjoyed the surroundings for about half an hour. Then back to bed!

Our family stayed in the hotel. The room said it had 2 queen sized bed and could flex up to accomodate 5 people when they added a roll-a-way. I had to ask several times to get the roll-a-way since the desk staff was busy. The last time I went to ask, I accompanied the desk staff to go get the bed so our kids could go to bed. Well, it barely fit in the room. We had to put it up against the door, so no one could get into the bathroom that night.Very noisy. Kids slamming doors and running up and down the hallways! We were very disgusted with the noise level.

Room was fine. We were near the pool, which means we had a lot of noise from children running to and from the pool area; this quieted down before too late at night. Towels were hard and thin, but room was clean, and staff was friendly and accommodating. Extra pillows already in room at check-in were appreciated. Room was very clean and reasonably spacious. Overall, fair value for the money.

The location of this motel was perfect with regard to restaurants and the downtown area. Everything was within walking distance--and for late evenings, the convenience of McDonald's next door was great. The rooms were very spacious. The staff from front desk, maid service, and breakfast hostess were above average and very friendly and accommodating. We liked that the hotel was green friendly. We were traveling with a pet, and the staff was friendly with our pet and there were good exercise areas. The dollar value of this motel was excellent. We stayed here for 3 nights and the service seemed very consistent for this time frame. We definitely would stay here again and would recommend it to travelers passing through this area.
