I had a mixed opinion about this hotel. The pool is attractive and the location is good (not in the center, but it's close to the beach and there's lots of restaurants and shops around). The room was not fancy (wish it had a desk chair) but it was clean and was very big (1 bedroom). We did have some problems, though. Many staff were great, but we did have a few unpleasant encounters as well. If you lose a key card you have to pay 200 Baht. The water was smelly. The amenities (soap, Chang water) were low quality (not a big deal). The worst thing was the wifi - very slow and unreliable; I tried to Skype with a colleague but - even with voice only - it stopped every few minutes.
It is listed as a five star hotel. At most it is a four star catering to charter groups, mainly from China. The furnishings are cheap and tacky. The restaurant and bar close to 10pm and room service is limited. The main concern is the bath tub. The shower is in the bath tub. The bath tub is huge and high. It is difficult to get in since there are no handles and it is slippery. I am a senior citizen. I made the mistake of taking a bath on first evening. To my horror I thought I would never get out. With get difficulty I managed. On the plus side, it is close to all the restaurants, bars and shopping area. And it was quite cheap. I should have been warned by the rate they were offering!
