I had to cancel my trip due to a sick baby, the hotel charged me 300 euros for this cancellation. I tried to ask them over and over again to consider the special situation and to cancel the charge or to make some discount. Even due the hotel wasn't full (so I didn't made the hotel loss as a result of my cancellation) they still changed me 300 euros. I will never recommend this hotel to any one.
The hotel is in a good location, close to the metro and decent bars and restaurants, it is smart and clean and the breakfast very good. All staff were very welcoming and friendly providing an excellent service, going above and beyond to help us out We will definitely be returning.
We stayed at the Champlain Rive Gauche for a long weekend between Friday and Monday in late August. The hotel is within a minute or so walk from Vavin metro station, which is on the direct line number 4 from Gare du Nord where we arrived on the Eurostar. This made the journey extremely easy and cost effective - its about 12 stops but only takes about 15 minutes. When we arrived the welcome was very friendly but the room wasn't ready (we were quite early) but we left our bags and went for a good long wander. The hotel is in a very nice area, with loads of bars and restaurants, and feels very safe. When we returned the room was ready and the hotel had left a bottle of Champagne for my wife as it was her 40th birthday. We hadn't told them this, they must have spotted it on her passport, and I thought it was a lovely touch. The room itself was perfect, slightly bigger than we were expecting, and with excellent aircon which was important as it was a very warm weekend. The bathroom was nice with a good shower, and it was all spotlessly clean. We are both light sleepers so were worried about noise, especially as it was a weekend, but it was very quiet even though we were right by the lift - no ear plugs needed! Breakfast was fine - nothing too fancy but coffee, juice, bread, cheese, meats etc as well as boiled and scrambled eggs and sausages. All very good. When we next return to Paris, we will definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Hotel Le Chaplain Paris Rive Gauche (and not as listed here as Hotel Champlain Paris Rive Gauche!) Is a friendly cosy hotel, perfectly located on the rive gauche. The left bank in Paris is, in my opinion, one of the best places to stay - sure you can visit all the other usual tourist attractions during your time there but when it comes to cafes, restaurants and just strolling around it is THE place to be! As soon as we saw the hotel on a quiet street, literally paces away from wine bars, restaurants, bistros and many other eateries, we were so relieved!! We walked in and were greeted warmly by the receptionist who checked us in and explained that although we didn't have breakfast included (but we could if we wanted to) that coffee/tea/herbal infusions/biscuits were available 24/7 and at no extra charge. Another lovely touch was that the mini bar in the room is also complimentary :) how cool is that?! We were out most of the day, of course, however once back we could just help ourselves to anything we wanted. The bathroom was lovely - everything was so clean and the rooms are quite unique as well. We were there for three nights and each day someone new was at the reception desk - each person was as helpful and friendly as the last. A gem of a hotel! I won't even look for another if I go again, this will definitely be the place where you will find me. Well done :)
We travelled two adults and two kids (age 17) and stayed for 5 nights. We had two separate rooms next to each other and that worked just fine. The rooms are very small and so is the hotel. You can hear when people take the elevator or walk up the stairs, but the hotel has charm and it is clean. Staff is average and breakfast is ok. Location is perfect. Lots of little café and bars in the arena and a very short walk from Luxembourg Garden. Make sure jo visit the café Charivari just around the corner.
I was greeted by Yann who is very attentive, warm and welcoming. I truly appreciated the little touch of free welcoming hot and cold drinks as well as mini pastries. The hotel has an amazing location: 2 min walk from jardin du Luxembourg and Montparnasse, clothed to all restaurants and shops. The room is bigger than most hotel rooms in Paris, beautifully decorated, equipped with all essential amenities, very quiet and peaceful. The WiFi is really good and available in the entire hotel. The air conditioning was working really well and not noisy which is truly a plus especially during warm weather and heat waves in Paris. I just wished the hotel would have included a mini fridge and slippers.
The hotel is centally and conveniently located. The rooms, while small, are not unusally sized for Paris and they are also clean. However, while it states on the website and in the information in the room that all rooms are airconditioned, we had to argue with the manager in order to have it switched on! Additionally, this morning there was a leak somewhere in the hotel leading to workmen banging on the door, demanding access. They only went away when my partner assured them we had no water running and they could get into the room in a few minutes (i.e when I'd got some clothes on!). It's an ok hotel, but I've certainly stayed in better places with more reliable infrastructure.
Hotel is in Montparnasse, steps away from Le Dome, La Coupole, Le Select. Steps away from the Vavin metro and Notre Dame des Champs metro, not far from RER B at Port Royal Rooms are typical of a Paris hotel...that is small. But the hotel is clean, the breakfast are is pleasant and service is good
I wouldn’t say this is a solid 4 star hotel. I’d say more like 3.5. The lift is a 2 person lift. There are only 3 or 4 rooms on each floor. The shower is retrofitted and is miserable because the tub is so narrow you have to keep both your feet together and it has a hand held wand which is in the corner of the tub. We didn’t have a glass door bathroom. There is a spiral staircase to the rooms if you don’t want to use the lift. Reception was nice. I saw the pillows without cases on them and they were all yellow and gross. I’m glad we only had carry on size luggage because the room is small. I did a lot of research about location, quality and price. There is a safe and you leave your room at reception when you go out. I don’t see what the big fuss is in other reviews about having to leave your room key.
Hotel is well located nearby Jardins du Luxembourg and Place St-Sulpice. It is a boutique hotel. Not noisy. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. The room is small and a mattress that needed to be changed. The bathroom was nice and spacious. The breakfast was average...especially the croissant which were dry...how can you miss something that basic in Paris!
