The hotel is a good choice near train station with free parking behind hotel. The room size and furniture is acceptable for a short business trip and the area is near to the city center. It was the second stay at this hotel.
I stayed at the Golden Tulip for two nights along with 6-7 work colleagues. Check-in was painless, but when I asked for a quiet room, I was told that, “This is a city hotel, there’s always traffic”. So I wasn’t hopeful. However, my 7th floor room was quiet, even with the window open. The room was large and fairly well equipped. However, I would have liked a second bottle of water after I drank the first on my first night. The room was clean. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but that was very acceptable with some variety of hot and cold dishes. I did like the fact that each table was provided with a large jug of hot coffee and that I didn’t have to rely on a waiter to find time to serve me or queue at a machine. There were some disappointments. Firstly, the poorly functioning air-con in my room - and it seems in my colleagues’ room too. Changing the settings seemed to make no difference at all (except to the speed of the fan) and by the early hours the room was so airless, one had to turn it off and open the window. I don’t like to think what it’s like in the height of summer. Secondly, on the second morning I had requested a 7.00am alarm call. I left for breakfast at 7.25 still awaiting the call. I’m glad I didn’t oversleep. Thirdly, the computer in Reception that should have provided access to the Internet was off-line for our entire stay. However, I’m told that the wifi access in the rooms was good.
It was a really nice stay for 2 nights! Staff are lovely as well. The only complaints I have are how hot the rooms are and that there is little choice of fruit for breakfast. Other than that everything was lovely, including the breakfast :)
We just stayed one night during our tour of Germany. Our 'executive' room was excellent, very comfortable and one of the best we have ever experienced. Plenty of free parking in private car park. We didn't try the breakfast.
I am currently staying here. Unfortunately, all other hotels approved by my company are full, otherwise I would have moved out already. As a corporate traveler, I have general expectations of hotels who cater to this market. The supply of a newspaper in English to be provided each day is a simple, and I think quite easy request for a hotel to fulfil for a guest. But this hotel is not interested in customer service. Additionally, the water stinks coming from the taps (now fixed) but the hot water can not be regulated in the shower so the temperature runs between cool and scalding. Therefore, I have recommended the removal of this hotel from our approved list. I'm looking forward to staying in a better hotel next week that welcomes travelers who can only speak English. Extremely disappointed.
The Golden Tulip is an interesting mix of things. The location is very good for access to the train station at the Kassel Haptbahnhoff, it is directly across the street. The area around it is not very picturesque , but passable. It is several minutes walk to a little nicer area and some restaurants, although there is a Burger King you can see from the front desk area. We were there on a Tuesday night, and it seems like most restaurants are closed, or close at 10pm, so be prepared. I️ am not a fan of the 70’s styling, but he Hotel seemed very clean. My room was huge, with a very large living room, a large bedroom, and a nice sized bathroom. There was some wear and tear, especially on the carpet in my room, where there were several stains. Breakfast was good, but expensive. Overall it was a good experience, and I️ would stay again if in the area for business, or large family visit. For a personal visit, my personal style preferences may have me looking elsewhere.
Very conveniently located, well-managed hotel. Quiet, clean, and in walking distance from the documenta sites. Breakfast buffet is ample and fresh, but a bit on the expensive side. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Recommended.
This is very convenient hotel, next to the train station, well located with easy access to Documenta 14. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel seems renovated not too long ago. Staff is friendly, particularly Alexander, from the front desk, who made our stay very enjoyable. I just have to add a note, on our last day we decided to have breakfast at the hotel, we didn't know the time the restaurant was closing, and we happened to arrive to the buffet at 10 o clock, one of the waitresses rushed to end the buffet as it was time to close it; so I had to run to serve my plate. I wish she had been able to give us few minutes to serve ourselves. Other than that hotel stay was nice.
My friends and I were in Kassel for Documenta 14. Luckily we booked this hotel as it is just opposite to Kassel Hauptbahnhof. We could walk to the main venues within 15 minutes. There are many shops and restaurants nearby. The room was very spacious and neat. The staff were helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.
I'm rating this hotel 5/5, not because it is luxurious or trendy. It is neither. However, it offers all the features that I value: Well located for Documenta. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Clean, comfortable, and most of all, quiet room. Great breakfast. Fast and reliable wifi. (During our stay there were no English television stations. It didn't matter to us, but it might matter to others.) I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
