Golden Tulip Kassel Hotel Reiss4.0 out of 5.0

The Golden Tulip is an interesting mix of things. The location is very good for access to the train station at the Kassel Haptbahnhoff, it is directly across the street. The area around it is not very picturesque , but passable. It is several minutes walk to a little nicer area and some restaurants, although there is a Burger King you can see from the front desk area. We were there on a Tuesday night, and it seems like most restaurants are closed, or close at 10pm, so be prepared. I️ am not a fan of the 70’s styling, but he Hotel seemed very clean. My room was huge, with a very large living room, a large bedroom, and a nice sized bathroom. There was some wear and tear, especially on the carpet in my room, where there were several stains. Breakfast was good, but expensive. Overall it was a good experience, and I️ would stay again if in the area for business, or large family visit. For a personal visit, my personal style preferences may have me looking elsewhere.
Very conveniently located, well-managed hotel. Quiet, clean, and in walking distance from the documenta sites. Breakfast buffet is ample and fresh, but a bit on the expensive side. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Recommended.
This is very convenient hotel, next to the train station, well located with easy access to Documenta 14. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel seems renovated not too long ago. Staff is friendly, particularly Alexander, from the front desk, who made our stay very enjoyable. I just have to add a note, on our last day we decided to have breakfast at the hotel, we didn't know the time the restaurant was closing, and we happened to arrive to the buffet at 10 o clock, one of the waitresses rushed to end the buffet as it was time to close it; so I had to run to serve my plate. I wish she had been able to give us few minutes to serve ourselves. Other than that hotel stay was nice.
My friends and I were in Kassel for Documenta 14. Luckily we booked this hotel as it is just opposite to Kassel Hauptbahnhof. We could walk to the main venues within 15 minutes. There are many shops and restaurants nearby. The room was very spacious and neat. The staff were helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.
I'm rating this hotel 5/5, not because it is luxurious or trendy. It is neither. However, it offers all the features that I value: Well located for Documenta. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Clean, comfortable, and most of all, quiet room. Great breakfast. Fast and reliable wifi. (During our stay there were no English television stations. It didn't matter to us, but it might matter to others.) I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Well-located near train station. Room was clean and comfortable. Stayed there 3 nights while on business. Breakfast buffet was extraordinary, and enjoying it in the garden was a treat. One of the two elevators was out of commission for two days.
Last time I visited Documenta in 2007 I left the Reiss Hotel with no long-lasting impressions apart from the fact it was so,well positioned in relation to the station. Ten years later (2017) when I again visited for Documenta I now wish to add that it is 1) good value, 2) close to all Documenta events, 3) clean and very well-appointed (after a refurbishment) and 4) it has very friendly staff! p.s. 5) it is still very convenient to the station.
Staff very friendly but not knowledgeable. We were there for Documenta14 and no one at reception seemed to know anything about it. The rooms were satisfactory but a/c didn't seem to work well and one elevator was out of action. On the flip side the location was very close to everything we wanted to do
Hotel Reiss is a reasonable hotel to stay, it's clean, quit, good parking and across the main train station. My room was sufficient, clean and all in good order. Huge led television, only the international channels didn't work (anyway a person needs to sleep), tea can be made in the room, a desk to work. Quit at night while sleeping with the window open. No nose from the elevator or other people in the hotel. On Monday the restaurant is closed, like most German restaurants, down the road is a very friendly and good Chinese restaurant. 10 min walk.
As I arrived my room had not been cleaned, but they apologized and took care of it right away. The location is really convenient, near the train station and many other interesting places, such as restaurants, bars, etc. Breakfast is vast and diverse. I would stay there again.
