Wife and I came into town for a wedding near Wimberly. I picked Candlewood one because of its location and two because it was pet friendly. The hotel my friend had blocked off for guest did not take pets. I figured being on RR 12 was perfect and a quick way to get to the wedding venue. Well its easy to get to off I 35 but unfortunately you cannot get onto RR 12 north. You either have to take the feeder road and u turn back to 12 . Or take 12 south and u turn to go back north... Only reason I cannot give them 5 stars. We had a problem with our first room and it was handled immediately by concerned friendly staff members. Also as I'm writing this I see the price of the room is 40 dollars cheaper than my booking price ... danget
Great location for a quick trip for a college visit to Texas State. Room was nice and clean and it was nice to have a popcorn snack in the room waiting for us. We will definitely come back again to visit the Outlet mall!
First time in Texas, came alone for a few days, Reagan was very friendly, attentive and informative, thanks to her I had an amazing meal in town. This Hotel was great in every way, it is also next to the highway, this makes it easier to navigate for us tourists. I will definitely come back
Decent hotel. Room was spacious, clean. No humidity. Nice handy kitchen. Clean fitness. Helpful staff. Parking in front of building. Clean moldfree shower! Will recommend and will stay again. Close by to San Marcos outlet stores
Wonderful hotel. Comfortable beds. We were upgraded into a King suite and the room was amazing! The staff is so friendly and helpful. This hotel is close to so many things. Only about 20 mins from Wimberely plus right down the street from the outlet mall! There is also Dicks Classic Car Museum about 5mins away. This is my first stay at a Candlewood hotel and looking forward to staying at more of them.
On July 13, 2017 we did a morning swim at Hamilton Pool which is beautiful and then did the swim and rock jumping into Jacob's well which which is very fun. By the end of the day all we wanted was some rest. I had read the negative reviews about noise and about parking issues. When I checked in near 5PM since it was only a short drive from Jacob's Well I was greeted by a wonderful college girl working as the desk person while college was out. She was polite, cheerful and intelligent. Since I mentioned I needed it quiet she put me on the top floor on the side of the building not facing the highway. On parking she told me that being Thursday and college out that parking was no issue. Room was clean and with thick curtains, nobody above us we had a great night sleep. Because we were going to float the San Marcos river that morning from the Lions Club and not sure we would get back to check out at noon she made a note we would be a 1pm checkout with no charge. The Hotel manager did a good hire here. I had wrote down her name but lost the paper but hopefully the manager will know who this sweet young lady was.
We were just needing a hotel for a night, in between destinations and San Marcos was a good point. This was our first time at a Candlewood Suites and it was a nice surprise. A very nice mini kitchen with full fridge, DVD player and all the items you could "borrow" We have added this brand to our preferred over night stays.
My wife and I were in town for a college graduation and we had an overnight stay at Candlewood. We were impressed with the size of the room and how clean it was. The room featured a full size refrigerator and stove, and included all the kitchen utensils you need. While the T.V. was a little small, it was big enough. The staff was friendly and pleasant. Overall we had a very good experience and would definitely stay there again!
Convenient location with good service. The cupboard is stocked full and management was always in there checking to make sure everything was fresh. The hotel is a bit outdated but I can see they are trying to make a difference. I did not like my room. It felt wet and damp all the time. The air is set on a "new electricity saving sensor." When you leave the room, it shuts off. I am not sure what was going on with this but I had to get up several times at night to turn the A/C on. I did not get any sleep. Every time we left our room and returned, it was so stuffy we had to prop the door open to the hallway. We had a very busy weekend so no time to ask to move to another room. Jay must work 24/7 because he was there every time I walked through the lobby. He was very thorough in checking us in. I did request two beds from the King and he accommodated us. He recognized me as an IHG member but I did not receive an upgraded room. Instead I received a two bed standard room. It was not a suite. The reason we booked Candlewood Suites is to have a suite. Separate room and living area. I did not have a good time sharing the room with my children. It made for a miserable weekend stay. I will not stay here again.
The room was nice but a little small for a suite. It had everything we needed. I would stay there again. Employees were very friendly. The hotel was clean and didn't smell like dogs. It did need a bathroom trash can though.
