The young lady at the desk was wonderful and so helpful. The location is just great with ocean views and many restaurants to walk to. The only negative is the building is older and could use a bit of updating but it was immaculately clean and when I asked for towels they came immediately. I will definitely be back!

I have found my MB hotel. Family owned, not a corporate chain. Great rates. Spacious rooms w comfy beds, pillows, and linens. Updated bathroom, very clean. Oceanfront/poolfront rooms available. Large flat screen smart TV. Full size fridge and microwave. Full sized dresser with lots of counter space. Luxury toiletries. Soft towels. Easy parking. Across from Mystic Sea general store and next to Scoobys Grill and Ben and Jerrys. Walking distance to restaurants including a breakfast/lunch place. Amazing staff: friendly and helpful. Easy check in and out. There is not an elevator but the owner carried my bags and would not accept a tip. 3 stories. Coffee makers in some rooms. Shower only which I prefer. On the way past the outdoor pool and hot tub to the water there is a grassy area with a bbq grill. Plenty of chaise lounges and chairs. Past that is beach access. I've stayed in more than 15 hotels in North MB, South MB, Surfside, and Murrells Inlet, including condo rentals and airbnbs along w traditional hotels. I will never stay anywhere else.
It was a great experience well clean and the staff was friendly definitely giving it 5 stars

Besides not enough parking which is frustrating, the Hotel was good and staff was wonderful. There was a misleading room description by orbits saying Ocean side view (there was not at all) staff did their best to fix this. They do have ocean view rooms just make sure yours is at booking. A family hotel not a mega chain so you get that small town local feel, with that local guide on where to go and what to do from a local, which only comes from someone who has lived there 20 yrs or more.

Staff was nice but room was very dirty. Bathroom had mold in grout. Bathroom floor was very dirty. Holes in sheets and flat pillows. Really nasty looking chairs.
The staff was very nice! The rooms are clean but not spotless. No Bugs of any kind. Windows of rooms 226 and 218 face a hallway wall, the rooms above and below do the same. Only 9 rooms of the hotel, which are ocean front, have any kind of view of the ocean. Coffee machines but no coffee, sugar or creamer. Only 2 towels per room. I paid $59/night, 1 queen bed 1 table 2 chairs. I would have to be hard pressed to pay over $80/night for this room
This hotel has a lot going for it. First and foremost, the staff are incredible! From the front desk to the maid service, they were all incredibly helpful and welcoming. The pool and lounge chair area is excellent! Unfortunately this is an older hotel that is very dated in the rooms and furniture. The bathrooms do have water spots/stains on the ceiling but nothing outrageous. One night during my stay I did have a cockroach that crawled under the door ( there's a pretty wide gap) that I had to kick outside once I noticed it. I was displeased about the insect as well as the stains in the bathroom but they were minimal issues that I could work with for the great price and location. Because of the excellent staff working this hotel, I would definitely return even with the small issues I encountered.
The location was easy and staff pleasant. I could not get reliable wi-fi; rare, brief access through motel system. Could not access "free" next door either. Room wasn't as clean, with stray hairs in the bathroom. TV old with color issues at edges, but not the main reason to be there. I paid a low price and feel the experience met the value in comparison to other stays during this vacation. Can't recommend to friends because of what I've noted, but could be just fine for others looking for a cheap stay, steps to the beach. Other rooms might have been more wifi accessible and maybe cleaner another day.

As a small mom and pop business, it is difficult to keep updating the rooms and keep the rates affordable. Our goal at the Mystic Sea is to provide families an affordable hotel, by the ocean, where everyone feels welcome in a safe, clean environment. We certainly hope you will stay with us again when you return to Myrtle Beach.
