Wifi didn't work. Air conditioning didn't work. Terrible service and rude staff. The blankets were too small. Took over 30 minutes to check out and almost an hour to check in. Don't stay here. Not ever.
During Oktoberfest all Munich hotels are oberpriced. But the place is great! Clean and silent. Breakfast is amazing. A bit strange that we requested a toothpaste to be brought to our room. This is under receptionist control. He never came. We couldn’t wait any longer. Why such amenities are under receptionist? He is busy constantly registering newcomers
Stayed in this hotel with friends for Oktoberfest, cheap and cheerful, front of house staff were decent nothing to complain about or write home about, did exactly what it said on the tin. The problem comes with their booking management, website and the fact they’ve billed my card for £1,500 more than they should have and their customer service trying to resolve this has been pathetic! I booked through their website directly, paid in advance 8 weeks before we stayed and thought that was it. When we checked out they asked for payment from a friend who’s room I had booked and I explained I had paid upfront, the receptionist agreed this was the case and everything was OK. The next day I check my bank and my account is £1,500 down as they had billed me once again for all the bookings. I rang my bank and they confirmed that it was the hotel that had taken the money and also advised me that they had tried to take almost £2,000 in other transactions earlier in the month, without success as the account didn’t hold that much . So far 10days on I’ve rang, live chatted and emailed with absolutely no response or acknowledgement of the issue and am in limbo, the group don’t seem to have facility to help resolve the situation and the hotel just simply haven’t responded, hell the only reason I’m writing this review is for a response so I’ll hopefully get this resolved!!!! My advice is don’t book this hotel through their website and be very careful when leaving card details with behind reception and make sure it’s a credit card! Or even easier, just avoid completely.
I stayed at this hotel for an Oktoberfest weekend. Check in was quick, staff friendly, and the room was clean, bathroom was great, bed was comfortable. I enjoyed my stay very much and have given this a 5 rating as overall it was excellent. Couple of things I had was air con didnt seem to work so it got very hot in the night. Also the mini shock of getting a bill of €84 euro which included 3 days of breakfast, yet there was no mention to me on arrival whether I wanted breakfast and as i knew my booking didnt include it i had made alternative arrangements. They did remove it from my bill though as I never had breakfast. Transport: I found it easier getting to Ostbahnhof and getting 190/191 bus which stops right near the hotel. Zamdorf Siedlung is the stop you want. Note the Hotel is not in the city center but is accessible and it was a nice quiet area
My wife and I stay at the NH Messe for 5 nights during Octoberfest. The rooms were clean but very small. We had three large suit cases and there wasn't a lot of extra space in the room. The hotel is about 4 or 5 miles from downtown and there isn't much around it as far as restaurants or shopping. The closest train station is about a mile away so our day started and ended with a mile march. There were always people at the bar and we had dinner there one night and the food was good. We did make the mistake of eating at the breakfast buffet one morning. It was good but when we checked out the was a nice bill for 50 Euros which I thought was outrageous. The hotel staff were all nice but a lot of them didn't speak English very well. The next time I go to Munich I will definitely stay closer to downtown.
We stayed here as a group of 8 for a weekend to Oktoberfest. The hotel itself was clean and tidy rooms were adequate, comfy beds good pillows. The aircon needs improving as the rooms were boiling! The hotel is just out of town, busy but the doors and walls are thick so we couldn't hear any comings or goings. Where we were let down was the staff- One night while sat in the bar we saw a mouse run across the floor, after telling bar staff and getting zero response, then seeing the mouse run across the room again we went to reception only to be asked by the guy on reception if we were concerned it would eat us! We asked to speak to a manager to be told there wasn't one in until 8am and ad we were checking out in the morning I couldn't be bothered waiting. We didn't eat at all in the hotel but after seeing the mouse there's no chance I would risk it. On the plus side the bar was great, good choice of drinks and good prices. The bar staff are very tolerant and put up with a lot of rowdiness!
We stayed here two nights before Oktoberfest in September. The room was huge, lovely comfortable bed, big bathroom with a bath, desk, couches, tv, kettle, coffee facilities, walk in robe/dressing room, balcony, mini bar, fridge in the room. We were on the 3rd floor and it was lovely and quiet during our stay. Short walk to the train station that could take you to Munich centre. Supermarket close by. The restaurant had nice food, room service was good. Didn't see the gym so can't comment on what that was like. Wifi worked well, check in and out was easy. 20€ taxi to Munich. All in all a great stay.
We have stayed at this hotel every time we visit or former exchange student who lives nearby. We like the hotel because they have competitive rates, convenient to our German son and they are one of the few places that have real bacon on their breakfast buffet. This time we were having breakfast at our son's apartment each morning but I always go to the breakfast room to get my wife a glass of ice first thing. While I was waiting for my glass I noticed a display in German that included paper napkins, plastic knives, forks and spoons and cups all with a whimsical boy flying in a toy plane amongst the balloons. Perfect considering my German son is a pilot for Lufthansa and we were there to see his one year old son. So I took a couple of napkins and a couple of plastic spoons. One of the other waiters saw me and rushed over saying they were just for children eating breakfast. He took the napkins and spoons from me and threw them away. Rules are rules. I had forgotten that I wasn't in America Our son is building a house out of Munich so this is probably never stay here again but if he wasn't moving we would stay here again for sure.
I reserved for my family "Superior XL with Terrace" and paid it all during the reservation. To my complete surprise on arrival we received very small and uncomfortable room -without any terrace at all! We were not forewarned by the consierge-so I had to return to the reception -here I was told that they haven"t another room! So we were left without any other choice than to receive the beforementioned small room(they tried to pacify us with the breakfast coupons that we didn"t need) I want to know how it was possible? Is double booking and overbooking your standard practice? Who was to blame??? Why I had not received the room i had payed for?
We are NH regular clients but this time round we are thinking of switching if we don't compensated! The NH brand is fantastic as we have been using it over the years but our last experience in Germany was not a good one. We stayed in 2 NH hotels totalling to 7 nights (Nuremberg and Munich). Both hotels did not have an air condition cooling system in the rooms. Air-condition fan system worked but the cooling was not there? 34 degrees out side after a full day and coming back to your room to refresh and sleep at night was frustrating. We spoke to reception in Nuremberg and they replied that they have no other alternative rooms at the moment so they gave us a free breakfast voucher along with a 10% discount off the bill. In Munich when we contacted reception... they sent the maintenance person after 2 days to fix the AC but the rest remained the same. We don't feel good about this review but it is only fair as my family and I paid good money.
