Spacious rooms and quiet hotel in an excellent location close to shops, transport, restaurants, etc.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel de l'ITHQ. The staff was lovely, the room absolutely comfortable, the location perfect, and the breakfast was terrific. It's a perfect place to stay in Montreal.

Chose this hotel as one that appeared to be centrally located and relatively easy to get to any area. Success! It is located in a real neighborhood that reminds me a bit of the Haight in San Francisco, but a bit more interesting. Many local restaurants nearby (go to L'Express on Rue St. Denis), right on top of the Sherbrooke subway station and within 20 minute walk to many interesting neighborhoods or sites (e.g. Vieux Montreal, Theatre district) but a short subway ride from everything. If you want to be in downtown by the major shopping area and big hotels, this isn't for you. Hotel itself is very contemporary, well appointed with comfortable rooms. Balconies were a big welcome surprise where we got to watch fire works over the water. The only reason I didn't rate it a 5 on comfort was that I felt the beds were TOO soft with big lush mattress pillow tops (my travel companion LOVED them). But that's just me, I could sleep on a rock. Breakfast btw was actually pretty good given it was buffet (I HATE buffets) - makes sense in that L'Institute is in fact a culinary school among other things.

Thank you so much for your comments. Just for your information, we changed all of our matresses last week. It would be more comfortable for your next stay!
