Ernie was the most horrible person I have ever encountered working at a hotel. He was rude and very short with me when asking about the local area. When i spoke to the manager the next day she was just as rude and unpleasant as he was. She told me she had been there too many days in a row to count and is extremely tired, so please excuse her. Horrible customer service. Eric the night front desk rep was also extremely rude to myself and kids. My son asked for a towel because the pool are was out Eric told him to go to his room and get one. My son also wanted hot cocoa and Eric started on him about not making a mess as he just cleaned the area and its not his job to clean up after unattended children. I was about 10 feet away when this was said. I told Eric that was uncalled for and he told me that there is plenty of other hotels that would accommodate us. Next night was a different group of front desk people that were much more pleasant. I will never stay there again. Laurie also was overheard by my wife the next morning talking to a staff member about another staff member right at the front desk. Poor management=poor staff
Stayed here with family and friends for a wedding that was in Mounds View. This hotel recently transitioned from asteria inn To the americinn brand . With that , reservations and confirmations got lost apparently , including the bride and grooms room for their wedding night . No empathy from the management or any acknowledgment of their fault in the situation . Other oversights include , cleanliness in the rooms , rusted shower heads, clogged shower , dirty shower curtain , smelly room with no air circulation , inedible breakfast with questionable ,if not heath code violation food served at breakfast . I understand this is an "inn" and not a hotel with higher standards by any means but for the same price maybe less , do yourself a favor and stay at a Marriott or pitch a tent . You will be better off , I promise .
Had a great stay with the family. They all loved the pool & the slide! Staff was pleasant. The lady working when we checked in was very accommodating. We had forgotten milk for our 18 month old and let us have a couple cartons from the breakfast area. Saved us a trip! My only comment- Get hot cocoa, a must for kids! We love this feature that most Americinns have and were a little disappointed that they didnt have that.
I have stayed at many hotels around the country, this is the only place I would prefer to be, if not at home. The front desk staff from Laurie to Porchia is always the most helpful., and the housekeeping staff seem to make my room clean and invariably sweet smelling, ty Val for keeping my room impeccably clean. I absolutely love the place!...Almost forgot their biscuits and gravy are the bomb.
Checked in with Ernie. He was super friendly and helpful. We were looking for transportation to the state fair (checked in day before fair) and he was working on printing off information. Very knowledgeable about local options. Kids under 10 love the water slide. Breakfast had good choices and clean. Updated rooms feel and look nice. Needed more shampoo 2nd night and Ernie had it delivered within minutes. Definitely would stay again.
AmericInn Mounds View is wonderful.. Great stay for children!!! Very clean, friendly staff, large rooms. Great that its connected to the Mermaid so you can go bowling or eat and don't need to leave!!!
I booked this hotel for my ultimate frisbee team of ~20 people. The customer service was beyond helpful, particularly when we had to deal with multiple people getting in after midnight due to delayed flights; we were even given the option to drop a room last minute without a cancellation fee if the flights ended up being cancelled (fortunately we did not need to do that). The rooms themselves were pretty standard, but were clean and the beds were comfy. Nice, large flat screen TVs had cable as well as Netflix app (personal sign-on required). The pool area is great for kids and adults; "Adventure water park" is a bit of an exaggeration, but the water slide was a blast and the hot tub is much bigger than any other hotel I've stayed at - it can fit 10-15 people easily. The attached bowling alley / restaurant / arcade was enjoyable and very accommodating. Complimentary breakfast was solid. Two waffle irons (one which made mini waffles), different egg selection each day, potatoes, meat, plus other typical continental breakfast options. Fruit, granola bars, and yogurts were available all day.
We stayed here as a group with over 30 people for a softball tournament. Staff was very helpful and the Mermaid next door has good food and lots for the kids to do along with the pool at hotel. thanks
Ate at the attached restaurant which was very good. There is also a bowling alley and games. Pool area is larger with a water slide the kids had a blast. This is a great family hotel. Recently remodeled and rooms are decent size with poured concrete floors so it is a quiet hotel.
We stayed here while in town visiting family and could not get over how nice this hotel was for the price. It was clean, the breakfast was good and the pool area was perfect for our family. The service was above and beyond. I left a necklace and earrings (not super valuable, but very meaningful) at the hotel and didn't realize it until a day later. They found my jewelry and were extremely accommodating in getting it back to me, I was amazed!!!
