Women at front desk would not get off her phone to assist me and my family. She had an attitude as if we were bothering her. Not good service at all will not be back
We have stayed at HI Express at many locations. This time was not as appealing because our room smelled of cigarette smoke.

On a short vacation visited Civil Rights & Vulcan Museums and Galleria Mall in Hoover, AL. Had a great time. Location was great 15-20 minutes from everything visited . Traffic flowed. Ate at Mellow Mushroom and Dream Land BBQ at 5 Points. Food was great.

We were extremely surprised by the hotel as a whole. The staff was very nice, rooms were great, and the breakfast was fantastic and the ladies that took care of the breakfast were amazing. We did not expect everything to be this great and would stay here again if we are in the area. Also, which was a plus for us, there cardio equipment was top notch and iPod compatible. It is right off the Interstate and has a few places to eat right around it. If you need a place to stay this is it.
Chose this convenient location to attend a family weekend event. It's near the interstate and plenty of restaurants and shopping are close by. Requested and given a non-smoking room but it still smelled like stale smoke. After telling front desk, an ionizer was placed in my room because no other non-smoking rooms were available. The ionizer did very little so I had to go out and buy a sanitizing fabric spray. That did the trick. It also helped with the dust mites in the chair and ottoman. I sprayed everything including the drapes and carpet. Also found that the microwave, refrigeratior and desk lamp did not work. Had to wait over an hour for maintenance to come and pull all of the furniture back just to discover that they were all unplugged. And the dust behind there was unreal. And the housekeeping staff didn't wipe any surfaces down when they came to "clean" the room. There were still water marks, smudges and stickyness from spills that I had made the night before. I left it that way just out of curiosity about their cleanliness. Fail. I could've paid a little more for the other major brand hotel across the street but had always known Holiday Inn to be at least decent. So much for saving a few dollars. Take your chances.
The hotel was nice and so was the breakfast. I just feel the price was too steep for a Holiday Express. After fees, of $20.00 our cost was $165.00. Definately not worth that. I've stayed at the Wynfrey in Birmingham for $121.00 using[...]
I often travel alone & like that exit. So far this is the 3rd hotel that I have stayed at on that exit & so far it is the best. Spacious rooms with free internet & I felt safe & comfortable. I am still looking for a better breakfast, but this is the healthiest so far. There are several restaurants at this exit.
