This was like a holiday from life, peaceful surroundings with waves lulling your worries away while the sun kisses reenergize you. Stayed in one bedroom suite, it had everything we needed including a clear view of the pool & ocean & a private patio to enjoy meals outdoors. Our kitchen was stocked with all the essentials needed including drinking water right out of the tap! No need to use the blender when the bar has fresh fruit margaritas with ample alcohol, the food served at La Sirena Gordita was mouthwatering & you can’t beat Sunday brunch on the beach with your toes in the sand. Eileen is the consummate Hostess, she invited us along on all her trips to the surrounding towns/markets as well as sharing will us her picks for the best eats out all while giving us plenty of privacy. Our happiness was her goal the whole time & she delivered above & beyond service even going as far as making me pico de gallo just for me to enjoy in my suite. We left feeling like part of a new family & while we don’t want to share this piece of paradise we cannot more highly recommend this relaxing vacation. Sunsets are breathtaking & we also got the privilege of seeing a turtle come ashore to lay her eggs, afterwards digging them up for the turtle sanctuary. Can’t wait to comeback for longer next year & the year after IF we don’t move there first 😉.

The property is a hidden gem. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. Jedd and Eileen are fantastic hosts. The property is quiet and the 20 plus miles of beach that you can walk are fabulous. It is very safe and there is a little convenience store just a 10 minute walk down the beach. The rooms are clean, bright, the staff are friendly and wonderful. If you want peace and quiet, this is the spot. You can also request a massage and have Ophelia take your worries and stress away. I would absolutely come back. The apartments have a full kitchenette so you can pick up local produce and cook in your room. You can watch the birds fly in the sky, or see hermit crabs running across the sand. Depending on when you go, you might sight whales in the water or, maybe even escort some baby sea turtles to the sea! The beds are huge and comfortable! Brightly and colorfully decorated. I enjoyed my solo stay here and will be back next year! I love that the entire property is powered by solar panels and definitely eco-friendly and responsible. They also support sea turtle conservation. What a wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I just had the pleasure of staying at Villa Star of the Sea last week and it was the most relaxing and rejuvenating vacation we've ever had! We stayed in the blue suite, which was absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail was impressive and it felt like the perfect backdrop for a beachside vacation. The suites share a private pool that provides a great alternative to the ocean. We spent countless hours floating in the pool and relaxing in the sun. Villa Star of the Sea also have their own beachside bar. We took advantage of this and had lunch there nearly everyday. The bartender Yasmine was so entertaining and fun to chat with. Eileen and Jed (owners and operators) of Villa Star of the Sea were incredibly accommodating and are clearly passionate about providing an exceptional experience for their guests. Eileen helped to coordinate horseback riding and an onsite massage in their beautiful garden. Jed also helped to drive us to nearly towns to experience more restaurants and culture. It was a wonderful combination of relaxation and exploration. I would highly recommend Villa Star of the Sea! It's the perfect destination for a relaxing vacation and the exact opposite of the highly populated resort towns!

We spent two weeks at Villa Star of the Sea recently and can't wait to go back. We stayed in one of the new standalone suites, which is separate but just next door to the "B&B". The rooms were private with a nice breeze and a/c in the bedrooms and a beautiful and soothing view of the pool, beach and zen-like garden area. Even when all four suites were occupied, there were many times when we were the only people at the pool and it never felt crowded or noisy. The kitchen was remarkably well equipped with a coffee maker, blender, gas stove, pots and pans and lots of dishes and glassware. While we don't normally prepare our own meals on vacation, we did here. The convenience and fresh local fruit and vegetables were irresistibly delicious and easy. If you want to go out, Jedd and Eileen have two bikes available for guests and you can easily ride to Colimilla where there are several restaurants open for lunch and dinner, or you can take a panga (small boat) across the lagoon into Barra da Navidad either with or without the bikes. If you're less adventurous or energetic, Eileen will connect you with a trustworthy and reliable taxi service that you can pre-book or call/text when needed. Our suite was cleaned each day and laundry service was available for a small fee. We found that we spent most of our time in our swimsuits so had way too many clothes - it wasn't a problem even after two weeks! The pool is immaculately clean, warm and the lounge chairs are very comfortable for either reading, sleeping or contemplating your toes ;-) Jedd creates the perfect ambiance with music - and he also takes requests. The entire resort is non-smoking. We can't thank Eileen and Jedd enough for their warm hospitality and local knowledge. We'll be back soon.

We have had the pleasure of vacationing at the Villa Star of the Sea for two weeks. It is an impeccable property designed, built and decorated to the highest of standards. The owners Eileen and Jed live on site, are extremely accommodating and keep an eye on every detail. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable and all of the windows have screens. The pool temperature has been perfect and the ocean is just a few steps away. The staff have been neat, professional and obviously well trained. Arranging transportation to the surrounding towns has been simple as well as reasonably priced. The ocean waves will lull you to sleep at night. We have traveled extensively and this is among the nicest properties we have ever stayed at. The property even has a small beach bar and restaurant for convenience that is called La Sirena Gordita. What a gorgeous slice of the Pacific coast and a perfect relaxing accommodation!

Beautiful one bedroom suite with a kitchenette and all your modern ammenities. We enjoyed a ground level suite with a view to the ocean and pool. All around was tastefully designed decor with soothing colours and relaxing music playing outdoors. Our hosts Jedd and Eileen were very caring and attentive to our every need. OnSunday's they offer a brunch on the beach and in the evenings you can partake in drinks at the tapas bar. The location is a 20 minute taxi ride into Barra de Navidad or a little farther into Melaque. So many things to do or see..or just relax at the Poolside. Perfect weather...perfect hosts. Thank you for a fantastic holiday

My husband and I spent four nights at this beautiful, relaxing and peaceful bed and breakfast. We chose the Garden Room and it was very romantic and felt very secluded with the patio and garden. The breakfast's are wonderful, however you have to watch Eileen, tends to give you very generous portions. I would highly recommended the Villa Star.

We spent all nine days, our entire Spring Break vacation, at this beautiful boutique B&B and it was truly paradise on earth. Our live-in hosts were great fun, friendly, attentive to our needs, and gave us as much or as little privacy as we wanted. Eileen, Jed, and Yazmin were also incredible cooks! We had the option of breakfast, tapas, and dinner indoors, on the patio, or on the beach. The location was incredible with views from your bed of relaxing surf, dolphins, and amazing sunsets. Daily awe inspiring sunrises and sunsets were viewed from the roof top deck and sometimes we sat near the fire pit and enjoyed drinks under a star-filled sky canopy listening to music on the outdoor sound system. Many days we awoke to have breakfast or brunch on the beach or at the Sirena Gordita, the beach side tapas pub which is part of the B&B, and often we forgot about time and found ourselves staying all day just enjoying the beach and conversation with occasional local guests that stopped by. Most days we practically had the beach all to ourselves. The location was also magnificent because within 40 minutes of arriving at the Manzanillo International Airport, you can be at this seaside paradise having cocktails on the sand! It is also close to amazing shopping and many great restaurants in Collimilla, Barra De Navidad, and Melaque. We had a rental car, but we also traveled by panga to cross the laguna almost daily and my husband used the bikes offered to tour this paradise. The panga is a quick and inexpensive way to cross from Isla Navidad, Colima to Barra De Navidad , Jalisco where you can stroll through open markets, have delicious local eats, or just sit and talk to friendly locals and expats. Its location means that you can cross both states in a matter of minutes and experience eating on Laguna Barra de Navidad dock or the beaches of Barra or the beaches of Melaque or enjoy Villa Star of the Sea. We actually booked this trip to tour the city of Manzanillo, but we never made it there because we just fell in love with our location! It is obvious that great thought and detail went into designing a comfortable, luxurious, and beautiful beach paradise! After sharing our pictures with family and friends, they have all put Villa Star of the Sea and Sirena Gordita as a next vacation destination and of course, we will be returning with them!

We spent four nights here in early March. The weather was perfect - dry with highs in the low eighties and evening temperature in the mid-sixties and moderate humidity. Villa Star is a new boutique hotel opened in 2015 located on Playa de Coco, a few miles south of Barra de Navidad, and less than an hour north of Manzanillo. It is not within walking distance to Barra, but taxi fare was reasonable and one of the owners provided transportation several times during our stay. Solar panels, passive water heating, LED lighting, and minimal chemical treatment of the pool are some of the well thought out features that earned Villa Star Trip Advisor’s Greenleaders Platinum status soon after opening. The wide and very clean beach stretches for miles with a few homes dotted here and there. Perfect for long strolls in the morning or evening. We experienced few mosquitos and some no see-ums in the early evening. The waves were very steep and powerful during our visit, so we opted to swim at a beautiful secluded cove a casual twenty minutes away by bicycle provided by the owners. The ocean temperature was 71 degrees, brisk, but tolerable for active swimmers. The rooms are comfortable with good beds, huge showers with plenty of hot water, overhead fans, and air conditioning. We did not use AC during our stay. The pool is clean, much warmer than the ocean, and primarily treated with an ionization system, hence no chemical smell or feel. The Canadian owners, Eileen and Jed, are gracious and attentive live-in hosts who provide as much or as little privacy as you desire. An excellent breakfast of your choice is included. Dinner, and tapas at the beach bar, are available at a moderate cost. There is good cell service and WiFi, but as time passes you will find yourself checking your e-mails less frequently as you settle into a mellow routine lulled by the constant murmur of the surf nearby. Highly recommended for a relaxing Mexico beach vacation.

Villa Star of the Sea (VSoS) is a lovely place to stay, partly due to the beautiful property and partly due to the wonderful host/hostess (Jedd/Eileen). VSoS sits on a wide, flat, clean, virtually unused beach, great for walking, viewing whales/dolphins/pelicans & fabulous sunsets. The rooms (only 2) are spacious, quiet, colorful, very clean, well-air conditioned w large restrooms & huge showers. The kitchen & living spaces are bright & open to the beautiful infinity pool and the ocean beyond. Jedd & Eileen are wonderful innkeepers - extraordinarily friendly & helpful (arrange reasonably rated taxis, dinner reservations, gave us great info about the area and fun places to go & what to avoid). Eileen is also a wonderful chef - she prepared all our breakfasts and we ate dinner with Jedd & Eileen several nights...Eileen is at least as talented a chef as those in surrounding villages & her dinners were tasty & healthy. Yasmine keeps the inn in great shape & runs the on-premises tapas restaurant, and is very cheerful & will help you with your Spanish. And beautiful Molly is the house cat - very playful. There is a beautiful golf course (if one desires) within 5 minutes. VSoS is not modern in the sense of glass & chrome, but it is a modern luxurious Mexican villa.
