This was our 12th year at this resort and have been pleased to see that the owners continue to make upgrades and improvements. During our visit this year, we saw the beginning of a new pool for kids which replaces one half of the tennis courts. There were new drapes in our room and some new furniture in other rooms. The food continues to be improved. We are looking forward to seeing the proposed changes for next year which include an adults only pool (the upper pool on the hill) and the re-opening of the restaurant across the street at what was Margarita's. The staff was even more welcoming and friendly this year and it seemed that more of them have improved their English language skills. This resort keeps getting better each year! The resort does have a "gym" but the equipment leaves a bit to be desired.
This was my second visit to Vista Playa de Oro, and I can’t wait for my third! The hotel was undergoing some renovations while I was there, including construction of a new kiddie pool and restoration of an adult pool, and both looked like they were going to be fantastic! The beach is just across the street, and provides an easy walk or a place to sit under an umbrella and watch whales in the bay. Jorge Ramos is extremely helpful with suggesting things to do in the area, answering questions, and resolving any issues that might arise. The staff are very friendly and work hard to see that you’re having a good time. Thank you Jorge, Antonio, Edie, Charlie, Victor, Gabi, Cruz, Perla, and everyone at Hotel Vista Playa de Oro for making my stay so wonderful!
I visited Playa de Oro approximately 11 years ago and just went back. The hotel was doing some construction while I was there on one of the pools however it did not disrupt my two week vacation at all. I would like to name and compliment a few of the employees on an exceptional job well done. Jorge Ramos is wonderful, kind and helpful! Edie Banda and Carlos Benitez who were part of the activity group were great! Two of the gentlemen who worked in the restaurant Antonio and Gilberto were also wonderful! Victor one of the bartenders...very nice and a long time employee! Overall a great time and great place to go!
¡Un tiempo estupendo con la grande gente! Great time with great people! Great time for over 12 years at Vista Playa de Oro! 2017 was no exception. Every time we visit it feels like coming home. All the staff make us feel at home. Beautiful, truly Mexican resort set in a palm grove, right on the ocean! Food the best, lots of choices, nutritious and delicious. Activities for everyone. Easy and safe to travel alone anywhere off the resort by bus. Only 7 pesos to get anywhere in the entire Manzanillo area. If you are adventurous like us enjoy the bus service at the main terminal near downtown to visit other Mexican states. The evening dinner show for the whole family is outstanding. Truly professional!! If I begin to list names of staff, there is sure to be someone I will miss. So I will only mention Jorge Ramos "George" and his wife Marisol. If you need anything, from tour advice to information on local medical services, they will provide it. Thank you everyone!! Muchas gracias a todos!!
Based on previous great experiences at Vista Playa de Oro, in March 2017 we spontaneously decided to extend our Manzanillo vacation by one more week so we could enjoy the hospitality once again. Glad we did! Jorge Ramos was friendly as ever and made sure our Vista Playa de Oro experience was all that we hoped it would be and it was!! Thankfully Jorge found us a lower-level room near the pool. My knees are bad and do not tolerate a lot of stairs or hills. The rooms are spacious and clean, the food is very tasty and prepared on-site from fresh ingredients, the nightly shows are great, and the pools and grounds are impeccably maintained! Jorge and Mauricio run a top-notch operation; Ramon, Julian, Aida, Claudia and others deliver great service; Alan, Carlos, Johanna, and all the animators are wonderfully talented and super friendly - give them a raise!!! Now that I’m FINALLY getting around to writing this, I’m thinking we should spend our final week this year at Vista Playa de Oro!
This is a great place very friendly staff Jorge was awesome live entertainment every night food was good and drinks were cold very close to beach I would definitely recommend I don't speak Spanish but didn't have any problems staff was incredible friendly Eddie and Lucio were really good to us.
We just came back from the resort , we had a great time. This is a resort mostly for Locals families, what is great to be immerse with all the culture who make Mexico. This is a great family resort with lot of animation. All the staffs from animation was great , friendly and really helpful with tips . They work hard all day to keep everybody involved in activities. The night show was handsome, really creative . A big shout off to Eddy, Charlie and All the team members fro they great work !! The reception people was always helpful with all the concern we could have , thank you to Georges . We got lot of help and helpful tips from Antonio , who help us on our first day with the luggage’s and explain us about the show and everything else what could be helpful during our stay. The food was great, they changed the buffet everyday. The servers was really nice, specially Lucio who always have a big smile. Room was clean everyday , bathroom will need more attention through. For the pictures I got disappointed, I commanded 2 pictures. They got a electronic problem, went back the next day to pick up the pictures but they was not ready and didn’t know wish one I ordered. At the end I left without my pics. We didn’t have the chance to try the Italian restaurant as we have to make a reservation between 7 and 9 am what is a little bit early to rush for vacation. Could be great if the timing was more open. The night camp for kids was a great add, my little guy love it and I could experience a night out at the night club. Change your pesos before leaving as they don’t have an exchange desk at the resort. We will come back for sure it has been a great experience for all of us 😊
The infraestructure is good for children and have an enjoyable familiar time, but when we talk about the service was not so good, and the room service was great, although they could improve their perfomance in terms of cleaning. The staff in the restaurants has to be more user friendly, because we saw that waiters were more servicial with people who give them tips. Overall it was good and is affordable in relacion with the price.
this hotel has unfortunately a poor setting in terms of being in pristine condition. The grounds are in desperate need of TLC even though saw staff doing sweeping and trying to keep the place clean. The room were in was quite stark in appearance and unkept in appearance which is dissapointing . however the staff we had contact with like Francisco on the front desk and Lorenzo deputy manager were exceedingly helpful and kind. also as we had our father/in law with us in a wheelchair the accessibility around the grounds and the rooms is a real challenge and not accessible friendly. steps and cobble stones are impossible for wheelchair users. The restaurant food was okay but could be improved, although the staff are very helpful in your requests and again helped with our father/in law in gaining access to the restaurant up the steep ramp incline to the restaurant itself. overall this hotel has some entertainment as we found out with a very loud and vocal presenter with kids on stage from 9:30-10:30pm on a Sunday night. there are snacks and drinks available and the swimming pool area seems the focus of most residents from what I saw. there is a small cart vehicle to transport you to your rooms if needed. would only say that the beach is not in the hotel grounds and you need to walk across a main road for access. WiFi is free but very intermittent be warned.
Rest was principal. Kids enjoy the shows and Pirate pool. Good beer, food was also good, good taste and variety. All day entretainments were funny. Kinds enjoy the Pirate drinks. At Italian restorant also was good taste and variety of food.
