Sofitel Macau At Ponte 16

4.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Clean, comfortable, excellent service with good amenities. Staff is very welcoming and attentive to guests needs. Excellent cleanliness.

Generally very good hotel. but the guests of the hotel can only be lined for taxi at the outside ground with casino players, calling taxi at the gate of the hotel lobby is not allowed. It is really inconvenient.

Stayed for only one night, but pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel. From entrance, check-in, to room was smooth with no hassle. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They have your interests in mind. The room was spacious with a good sized bathroom. The bed was also comfortable. All in all a very relaxing and nice stay. The breakfast buffet was also noteworthy with high quality preparations from eggs to eggs benedict to order along with home made crepes. The pastries, crepes, waffles were exquisite as one can expect from the Sofitel brand. Free shuttle from the Macau ferry is a short trip which makes things convenient as well. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel staff speaks English and is very friendly and helpful. Ruins of St Paul's church are an easy short walk away. Free high-speed wireless internet was greatly appreciated.

The Hotel is located near the old city center and the river. The river view is nothing special. The hotel's plush entrance is opposite a busy street and a part of town that is still being developed. You walk along (~500m) a busy street to get to the center. The lobby and common areas are grand, plush and nicely designed. The small casino is next to the lobby and a night club. I did not visit the casino or restaurant so I can't comment on them. The room was standard modern feel but seeing I was in the "Superior" class I expected more. The room was supposed to be non-smoking but clearly had been smoked in and had received the air-freshener treatment. Unfortunately the stay was ruined by the complete incompetence of the hotel staff. Starting with the manager, assistant manager and going all the way to the front desk clerk. Any deviation from a standard request (e.g. move to non-smoking room, request late checkout, find a late night cab) was either met with complete confusion requiring 3 calls to other operators or was apologetically refused explaining that "it just can't be done". Due to a mistake with my original booking I ended up having to call the travel agent at midnight using my own cell-phone and wait out the endless (53 min) hold time. I would have expected the hotel's own reservation system to be able to do this using their cheaper land lines. My phone bill covered the cost of the room! Overall, a stylish hotel, located in a "developing" part of town and run by completely incompetent staff that clearly has not received the standard training. I do not recommend staying here! There are many other similarly priced options closer to all the other Hotels and main waterfront.

The hotel is just fantastic, the pool is awesome, so does the food and the gym. I got an upgrade since i booked it with VISA and it was totally worth it.

Not right downtown, but a super hotel. A short walk from Sonata Square, St Paul's, and the Fortress. Great cab service and convenient.

Received wonderful complimentary upgrade to Executive Floor. Came with Hermes toiletries and comfy beds. Liked the tv in the bathroom but didn't use it. Workout area was sparse and touch screens on two machines didn't work. The 17th floor lounge was trendy but the breakfast buffet in Mistral had better, broader selections. There is currently a MJ exhibit on the 2nd floor including the costume from Thriller and the white glove.

My husband and I had a great time. The hotel staff were very helpful, polite and professional. All the details are taken care of. The hotel room where we stayed has a great view and the bed is super comfortable. What I enjoyed the most was their bathroom because it has another flatscreen tv where you can watch just about anything while you soak yourself in a bubblebath. The food is super and the gym and swimming pool amenities are perfect. Everything we needed was carefully and tastefully provided which made us feel like king and queen! We will certainly stay there again the next time we go to Macau.

The rooms have everything you could ask for. Internet service, king beds, marble floors, even a TV and phone over the bathtub. The lunch buffet was excellent. The pool was closed and the casino is nothing special. The area right around this lovely hotel is quite run-down. Free handy bus service to the ferry terminal where you can connect to most other casinos.

Staff was very attentive and helpful. The facilities were superb. Only downside is not located walking distance to other casinos and attractions. However, it IS walking distance to the ruins of St. Paul.

This hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the major casino hotels in Macau. This hotel does have a casino, but if you're looking for Western casino games, you will have to go elsewhere. The customer service is exceptional and the rooms are phenomenal. Easy access by walking or cab to the rest of the island. Would highly recommend.

I wanted a hotel that was plush- and close to the old city of Macau. The Sofitel delivered. If you are interested in gambling and girls, this is the wrong hotel for you (the gaming floor is small). If you are interested in a luxury hotel amidst the historic side of Macau, this is an excellent choice. I hope to bring my wife and daughter here on my next trip.

Great location away from the hustle and bustle of the old town but close enough to be in the heart of historic center. Area around the hotel is a bit run down, but has a lot of potential to be a charming revitalized district like the St. Paul's Cathedral area and Pedestrian Mall.

The taxi driver didn't know where the Sofitel was, but as soon as we figured out to call it "Pointe 21" he knew right were to go.[...] After a delay of about 45 minutes and a free upgrade we walked into a beatiful room. The hotel is beautiful, but the main areas are full of cigarette smoke as is seemingly every other hotel in Macau.I found the Casino sketchy I guess and wouldn't gamble there. It seems to be a brand new hotel/casino, so a lot of shops and other ammenities located within it are not completed yet, but no problem, walk out the door and you are on a main street. The location on the peninsula is great if you are into seeing the old Macau. It is close to the square and all of the historical sights. It's not to far from a free shuttle bus where you can hop on an go see the "new strip" in Tiapa with the Venetian and Hard Rock etc.

I might sound like a broken record but this hotel is GREAT! The location is on the water which is a little further away from the action in central. But central is only about 12 blocks way about 1 mile. I am glad I walked it for if I didn't I wouldn't have gotten to the older restored part of town. Altough the restored part of town has many modern stores and Starbucks the facade still feels wonderful and nice to look at. The hotel has a casino on the bottom. I prefer the hotel's to the Grand Lisboa's. The Grand Lisboa is goddy. This hotel is tastefully done. Beautiful environment. The river views are pretty. The service was great. I was a bit lost and had few ideas as to where to begin with my journey. The door person who had helped me with my luggage chased me down to let me know how to get about town. Very nice. And the experience was about me, the traveler. If you are staying for romance do not go into the casino. No matter how nicely done it is afterall a casino. People are still stessed there. Just keep to yourself in the dining/bar, terraces, swimming pool and lobby areas or your room with the nice view. However, do please ask for a softer bed or something to make it softer. Americans are generally used to soft beds, Chinese beds are not soft by our standard.

A newly made hotel, luxuriously done with great ammenities!
