The rocks hotel is a beautiful hotel. I love their design. The room have a balcony can see the ocean view and the amenities are great. But this hotel do not have casino, not too many people in there. It's very relaxing.
The hotel is okay. Room looks spacious but does not have enough power outlets. Complementary electric plug works every few seconds, so your phone would keep ringing. Bed and pillow is okay. Unlike balcony idea, but execution is not excellent. My only negative part is that the concierge does not know how to search anything, so be prepared to book everything yourself. Okay visit, but I won't come back if not necessary.
First thing to say: this is not a hotel for general crowd. It's not convenient. On the map, it is near the pier but the only transportation is taxi. I did not see any kind of shuttle bus. However, if you are looking for a place, secluded, isolated, tranquil, free of gamblers or noisy groups, this may be a good choice. The path leading from the pier to the hotel takes more than 15 mins. Along the path, there are several restaurants and most of them are empty, especially the so-called African grill. If you're celebrities and do not want to be spotted out, this is a good area. OK, back to the hotel, the deco is a bit old-school colonial style. Fine, but nostalgia does not necessarily mean running down, I think. Much needs mending or replacing - see pics uploaded. In conclusion. a good choice if you prefer quietness. Otherwise, there are tens of choices elsewhere.
The Rocks hotel is a beautiful hotel built around the late 19th Century. It has a wonderful setting at the end of Fisherman's wharf. Many restaurants nearby and the in house Vic's restaurant serves authentic Portuguese cuisine. I recommend it.
This is a very charming hotel located in front of the harbour, walking distance from the Ferry Terminal taking to Hong Kong. The amenities are great, room very comfortable and charming. The two downsides are: 1. the food options, that are not only very limited, but almost impossible to suit a vegetarian, not to mention a vegan. We were luck that the staff in the restaurante was nice enough to make something off the menu. 1. Staff in the reception speak very poor English and no Portuguese (despite being an official language in Macau).
We had a fabulous meal at the recently revamped Vics at The Rock Hotel.A 'sharing plate' of starters included chicken liver pate, goats cheese with honey and rosemary, black sausage sliced and fried, eggs with Portugese sausage and mussels in sauce. Lots of bread and oil. Crab with egg, mayo and finely chopped pickled veg was served with warm toast. The piece de resistance was a whole sea bass baked in a salt crust served with fresh veg.Served with style. We weren't disappointed with the recommended wines- both Portugese. Service was good and we were lucky enough to have an introduction to meet the chef and get the recipe for his home made Butternut squash sweet preserve.
An extremely well appointed 3-star hotel. The lack of facilities contributes to its quietness. Historical centre of Macau is 40 minutes away on foot. But there is enough to do within shorter distance even if gambling is not your thing. (It isn't mine.) Rooms have view of the channel between Taipa and mainland despite the hotel is only 5 stories high.
The hotel is located inside the Fisherman Wharf facing the harbour. We really enjoy the excellent harbour view from the hotel room. There are many attractions and good restaurants inside Fisherman Wharf and nearby. The semi-buffet breakfast has two options, Chinese style or Western style, we tried both. The tastes are good. However the internet connection via the mobile phone provided are very slow that we could hardly use.
When there in August 2016 for my anniversary. Picked the place to be away from the hustle and bustle. Nice strategic location overlooking the harbour and romantic. Unfortunately, the hotel was undergoing some renovations and many of the admenities were not open. Only a restaurant in the hotel was available. Rooms are nice and quaint, however, try not to pick too close to the left hand side of the building as there are bars nearby and might be a bit noisy. Our room was in the middle and was ok. There is very very small gym on the top floor that opens only after 10am! Don't waste your time climbing all the way up. There's not much there. No pool either. The surrounding areas are still under development, therefore food and all are rather sparse and limited in variety. The good side is that it is close to the old city and easy to get around. However, still require a taxi to be mobile.
My wife and I had stayed at The Rocks Hotel several years ago during the Beijing Olympic Torch Relay. I was very impressed with the service and amenities as well as its location on the Macau Harbor Wharf. We made an intentional detour from our trip in Hong Kong to re-visit and we were not disappointed. The service remains as friendly and welcoming and helpful as we remembered it. The room was clean and well appointed and I love the small balcony of our wharf view room looking out at the ferries and fishing boats plying the waters. While this hotel is a bit out of the way for the big casinos it is well worth the short taxi ride. The young lady who checked us in and the two men staffing the concierge desk were exceptional throughout our stay. Bravo!
