They gave my room to someone else. I paid a very high room rate through Orbitz (727-15555-18884) and was supposed to receive an Executive Room with a City View of London. I got neither when I checked in. They put me in a small room under construction (Room 804) without informing me it wasn't an Executive Room. There were two holes in the wall, there was no air conditioning, on the floor there was a sharp screw I could have stepped on and the TV didn't work. I immediately went down to reception and complained. The next room they put me in (Room 802) was even smaller and also under construction. It had wires hanging from the ceiling. There was no air conditioning. The view from my window was facing inward at other hotel windows. The acting manager extended me free breakfast for two days and dinner the next day. The hotel had no other rooms so that is the room I slept in. The next morning, I discovered the soap was used by the prior occupant of the room (or possibly one of the construction workers). In the morning, the general manager called me to apologize. I was moved to the very large Victoria Suite (Room 914) with a wonderful view of The Thames, Westminster Bridge, the City Building, and the 'Eye of London' among others. The Suite had everything a Suite should come with. The GM who lived part of his life in Australia did offer me a financial refund but it never came up when I spoke to him at check-out.
We were upgraded to a wonderful room with a city view, turndown service, great staff.
The staff, accommodations and location sold us on this hotel. The rooms are larger and comfortable for European hotels and even include "wash cloths", and heated floors in the bathroom. You can walk out the door and practically trip over Trafalgar Square. Within walking distance to most major attractions such as Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, the Royal Horseguards Hotel is definitely a five star winner at an exceptional price.
Excellent staff and facilities. Would highly recommend to all my friends and anyone else.
Almost everything was great. There was a loud party in a neighboring room one night, but the rest of the time was quiet, clean, and very nice. The staff was very courteous and helpful.
My husband and I stayed at The Royal Horseguards last year and knew it was the only hotel we wanted to return to due to its staff, facilities and location. From the minute you walk in the door you are made to feel special and welcome. The reception staff and the concierge are wonderfully helpful!
We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Horseguard! The hotel is nice and the location is fantastic. It's located right next to the embankment underground stop, and is in general centrally located to many tourist attractions. The room was smaller but it had nice amenities like heated bathroom floor an towel rack. We did have a bad experience going to breakfast on our last day, but it was recognized before we even said anything and the entire thing was comped for free. Overall very happy with our stay
Staff was superb. Attentive, helpful, engaging and constantly looking for ways to make my stay better
We've stayed at The Royal Horseguards several times. It's a beautiful hotel and the staff couldn't be nicer. Don't miss it!
Excellent location. Clean rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff!!
Very convenient to tube, buses and walking to attractions yet in quiet location.
Stayed at the Royal Horseguards with my mother. The hotel is very nice. Our room was decent but felt more 4 than 5 star. The lobby was lovely. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The staff was mostly amazing. There was one who was abrupt, but that can happen anywhere.
Simply an amazing place to stay with views of the Thames river and a location that is simply superb. The staff and great and make you feel right at home. Will certainly be going back again and again.
Fantastic location- was able to walk to all major tourist attractions and right night to tube station. Very friendly staff. Clean room. Fantastic value!
Supportive attentive staff. Knowledgeable of the center city. Cleanliness impeccable hotel. All your needs at your fingertips. Highly recommend
Great hotel and location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay there again if I return to London.
We had a beautiful King bedroom with a view of the Thames and the London Eye. It was a generous sized room by London standards. The room staff was very professional. Coffee and tea to brew is available at no cost in the room. There is a button to press for Do Not Disturb and a second for Making up the room.Turn down service was excellent. We pre-paid this room, but the incidentals are very expensive. If you want breakfast, pre-pay it. We ordered room service coffee and croissants and the charge was £22. Also, the bar drinks are £14 and up. Breakfast is about £20 per person, and dinner is astronomical. (The soup of the day is really the soup of the next two days.) The concierge offers good recommendations for out of the hotel dining options and theatre tickets. The staff is generally helpful, although they seemed to be understaffed for summer. The tearoom could have used some dusting. I was bitten by dust mites on our only visit there. I pointed out the dusty back-splash and table, and the server told me they were mosquitoes. Not mosquitoes, dust the tearoom. I have trouble faulting the server, since she was the only person serving a full tea room for the first half hour we were there. She was doing an admirable job under the circumstances. However, at a 5 star hotel at the peak of tourist season, I think they were understaffed. We also had trouble getting service/attention in the bar, which was unfortunate. They do make excellent drinks, which we enjoyed after theatre. The bar doesn't offer chilled glasses, but they will give you ice in your glass. If you are going to have breakfast at the hotel, my recommendation is to go early. They say they serve until 10:30 am, but what that means is they start breaking down the buffet at 10:30 am. They are DONE at 10:30 am, but I was not told that. So the one day I came down at 10:15 am, they started loudly breaking down before I'd had coffee. There was one egg left and no grilled tomatoes. It was not a happy experience, and I quickly left. The restaurant manager followed me to the elevator and listened to me. He guaranteed a better experience, and followed our conversation up by sending wine and chocolates to our room. It was a thoughtful gesture, and the next day we had a lovely breakfast at 9:30 am. The staff work hard, and I think they are doing their best. The hotel is very central to Tralfagar Square, most theaters, the London Eye, the National Gallery, and the National Portrait Gallery. It is a beautiful hotel with some of the most comfortable lobby chairs I've ever sat in. It's a great location with many attractions a short Uber or a walk away.
The location of this hotel is great - right on the Thames, almost directly across from the london eye. We easily walked to the palace, london eye, big ben, and more. Hop on tour stop was very close too. Service was nice but there were a few underhanded comments that I was less than pleased about you wouldn't want to walk to THAT (because we are fat americans and it was 1/2 mile). Regardless, the location and view was worth it and I would recommend it based on those alone.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Royal Horseguards. The room itself was very nice and clean. Its very close to everything. Short walk to The Underground, Big Ben, National Rail and Westminster Abbey. Close to a lot of other things as well but those were all within a couple blocks. Would highly recommend.
Great place, professional staffs and great brunch.
