I stayed at the Pilgrm with a friend in one of the bunk bed rooms which is tiny, like very tiny. No space to move around or keep your suitcases. The location is good and the staff friendly but for this price you can definitely find a better option.
Just what we thought this would be like. The future of modern hotel stays..... Some glitches booking in, but staff very attentive, thoughtful and kind. Rooms very beautifully presented and comfortable. Excellent food. Will definitely come back!
I booked the Pilgrim as a birthday treat for my sister when she visited London. I live round the corner. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay. The room was great and had some great design features. The breakfasts were varied and delicious. We had some fantastic cocktails in their lounge. Overall a wonderful hotel; thanks for making my sister so welcome.
I stayed at The Pilgrm for one night and had a great experience. The staff were very attentive and we felt we were in good hands. We had a small bite to eat at the restaurant at night and the dishes we ordered were delicious (fresh ingredients and bursting with flavour). The wine was also great (Alex clearly knew a lot about his wines). The room had everything we needed. It is evident that every little detail has been extensively thought about (from the Ren soaps to the Marshall speakers). I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in London for a couple of nights!
I recently booked again after staying here a couple of months ago. I thought it was a great hotel and liked that they were so honest about the size of their rooms on the website. Like other reviewers, I found the lack of a bedside cabinet and the strange placement of the electric socket inconvenient, but the bed was super comfortable, shower very hot with good pressure and the breakfast outstanding, especially as they give a £10 voucher against food purchases when you book direct with them. They really could teach a thing or two to hotels that charge twice as much for their breakfasts. Unfortunately I had to cancel my more recent booking, which proved a lengthy and frustrating process. You can cancel with 72 hours notice, which is great, especially as they don't charge extra for this flexibility, but they proved very difficult to contact. I couldn't find anywhere on the website to sign in in order to cancel; my early morning email was still unanswered in the evening, and there is no telephone number on the website. I googled their number, then was cut off mid call, and when I did get through, was accidentally charged for my room a second time before they made the refund. I will await my next credit card bill with interest! There are so many good things about this hotel I am still happy to recommend it, but be warned, if you need to cancel give yourself plenty of time before the 72 hour deadline.
Only stayed one night after going the theatre. We had a medium sized room on the 4th floor on the street side. Didn't notice any sounds from the street which was good. Only 2 small bad things were the small window on the left of the door which had no curtain and let loads of light in in the morning. And there was a constant sound of water running through pipes all night. Apart from that everything was great. Check in so easy. Cool little pantry with tea and coffee & water to go and find. Fab location and lovely late check out which we didn't mind. Comfy bed and nice products and stylish, clean & good sized bathroom! Would definitely stay again.
We stayed here for a night as we wanted to be close to paddington. Compared to the brand name American hotels (hilton) near Paddington It was almost half the price. We booked the king room since it was so cheap. Reminds me a bit of the Freehand hotel chain in the US. Great prices, amazing care put into the design (paint colors, stationary, lobby, bedding, bathroom) - which i love, and trying to push out of the old school hotel model. We enjoyed the stay, bed and room were very comfortable and clean. I found it to be pretty spacious compared to NYC and London hotels. I always bring my owns soaps and things so I appreciated that they don't give little bottles in each room - much more environmentally friendly! The cafe is really neat and there were lots of trendy people hanging out working and enjoying the bar. We were up on the 5th or 6th floor and there weren't double paned glass or covers over the old windows - we had to wake up super early to catch flight so didn't have a chance to find out if it was noisy in the morning. The hall echoed a bit as well, but not many people staying there while we were there so no issues. Would definitely go back! the pub across the street was really nice too - great scotch egg.
Really easy to stay here - friendly staff; delicious treats and a beautiful room that is just so so stylish. Quite loud, but that's to be expected given it's excellent location. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean, modern, comfortable and well decorated. The toiletries smelt fabulous (they even give you a little Ren kit with face cream and night cream) and you could tell that the towels and linens were good quality. The bed was really comfortable and we slept well every night. The hotel gives you refillable water bottles, which you can refill from the lounge area (they forgot to give us ours, but later when we went to the restaurant asking for water, they realised their mistake and gave us bottles immediately - so make sure you get yours when you check-in!). The hotel's location is great as well. While the hotel is not in the prettiest part of London, it is very close to Paddington tube station, which is on many lines, making it a convenient place to stay. A few things that could have been improved: There is still a bit of construction going on in one wing (the hotel isn't 100% finished yet), and so we were woken up by some drilling that started fairly early (9 am-ish). It would be good if this started after 10:30 am, just in case some guests want to have a lie-in. Also, the sink would benefit from having a towel holder attached to it or right next to it, as we had to keep the hand towel inside the bathroom (as sink was outside the bathroom). This was a bit annoying but not a big deal. Finally, during our first night, hot water was coming out of both of the sink nozzles. We didn't tell any of the staff about this but the issue seemed to have been resolved on its own by our second night. The property is fairly new, so we understand that there are always small teething issues at the start and I'm sure these will get resolved in some time. All in all, the issues we experienced were minor and we absolutely loved our stay here. It is great value for money, especially for a hotel located in central London! The rooms may be small but they have everything you need in them. We plan to stay here again when we're back in the city. P.S. They don't seem to respond to their emails, so perhaps try contacting them over the phone if you need to ask or request anything. I tried emailing them to ask for something for our next stay and it's been 10 days now and still nothing!!
Central base seconds from paddington station. Clean, tidy, toilet not much room took ages to refill cistern . Central base excellent but frosted window made husband feel enclosed. Very friendly staff. Would ask for front view next time
