what a wonderful hotel in a fantastic location. Spent 4 days in April 2017 here with my teenage daughter and we were incredibly well looked after. This was my daughter's first trip to London and it was to celebrate her birthday. The hotel went out of their way to make my daughter's stay special: balloons in the room, happy birthday written on the bed with rose petals, complimentary soft drinks and a beautiful birthday cake! Every staff member was exceptionally friendly and the location is well suited for a trip with teenagers: walking distance to Oxford Street for some retail therapy, 15 minute walk to Madame Tussaud (please book online for that to avoid queues!), and every other sights just a short bus or underground ride away. We loved our 4 days at the Montcalm and will definitely choose to stay here again when we return to London.
My husband and I had an amazing stay at the Montcalm it's a fantastic hotel in a great location On arrival We were upgraded to a club room! And offered a chilled glass of proseco such a nice touch on a very hot day I'd like to say a big thank you to Izabela (guest experience exec) for the surprise bottle of bubbly (it was our 35 wedding anniversary) you made our stay very special We will be back soon!
I am a regular guest at The Montcalm. One of the reasons I always pick the hotel is the warmth of the welcome. They greet me with broad smiles and they know who I am. What a difference from the larger, impersonal hotels in the City, where even if you stay frequently, nobody knows or cares who you are. You even get offered a drink on arrival - and as it was more than 30 degreed outside, this was very welcome. The foyer was also wonderfully cool. Another reason I like this hotel, is that generally, as a frequent visitor, I get upgraded. This time the upgrade was to the Presidential Suite. This room was a remarkable space in which I had ample facilities to entertain my guests without the need to decamp to the Club Lounge. The space is two decent sizes rooms, one with a four poster bed, complete with sparking stars on the canopy and other other room contained chair, sofa, dining table and another bathroom with shower. Water, wine, fruit and snacks were provided as always. Breakfast is available in the Club Lounge. A client joined me for breakfast, non dairy milk was available and there was a good choice of food and drinks. The olive focaccia was especially good with some hummus and crudités. Every time I arrived or left I was greeted by more than one staff member. This hotel goes out of its way to make guests feel at east and at home. It remains my preferred home from home and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
We had a fantastic time at the Montcalm. From the moment of our arrival, until our goodbyes to the doorman on checkout, the whole experience was wonderful. The staff were attentive, so friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was a pleasant one. A genuine interest was shown to the nature of our stay on arrival and as it was a romantic, mini-holiday to London for us ( just a one night stay to enjoy a show and take in some sights), they made sure our room was given an extra few touches. This included scattered rose petals on the bed and personalised room scents. We had also requested special pillows from their "Pillow Menu" which were waiting in the room for us, alongside those already provided as standard. The bed and pillows were super comfy, and the bathroom with it's unique electronic window shade was filled with an ample selection of toiletries (Hermes) and clean, super soft towels. The room was quiet with no internal or external noise (even though the hotel was busy and we were close to Oxford Street). The room had a full functioning smartphone available to use - loaded with maps and things to do in London and the surrounding area. Oxford Street and Hyde Park are within 5 minutes walking distance. The in-room sound system had charge points for phones. There was complimentary sparkling water, a capsule coffee maker and tea making facilities, as well as wine glasses and champagne flutes if you had brought your own drinks or taken from the minibar (which we didn't use but was well stocked). In the public area next to the lifts, there were bowls filled with fresh, red apples and in the morning a complimentary newspaper was delivered to the room. It was also an incredibly hot day (and night) with temperatures over 30°C but the hotel and rooms had excellent air-conditioning making it a welcome escape from the heat. I've stayed in quite a few hotels in London over the years, for both business and pleasure, and at varying price ranges. And though I'm not normally given to writing reviews, after our experience at the Montcalm I just had to acknowledge the great service we received from all the staff and praise it's location, facilities, comfort and overall ambience. Oh, and the breakfast selection was broad and tasty too. We're both vegetarian and there were additional options for us available from the buffet. Will definitely be staying there again.
Can't really fault much with this place- we stayed for five nights while flat hunting having just moved back from abroad, and the staff was lovely. They didn't mind helping with all six of the suitcases, didn't mind that after being abroad for so long we just wanted to say takeaways in the room and even gave us plates and cutlery. The wifi was slow but dependable for email and internet searches. Too slow for streaming however. The location is ideal and really the reason for high prices. But really, couldn't think of a nicer place to set my feet upon returning to London. Some of the front desk staff seem to struggle with communication but others go out of their way to be helpful, kind, and humourous. Lovely on-site bar. The only drawbacks are in the room. The rooms are SMALL. A club room is advertised as being 20m2 but it isn't -truly it isn't more than 14m2. Which is a shame because the bedding is comfortable and the bathroom and shower are nice. So if you have luggage or are particularly tall, maybe this place isn't for you. Also a note to light sleepers or sensitive sleepers- There are nightlights. EVERYWHERE. That you can't turn off. So in a room of 14m2 there are probably at least 10 little fluorescent green blue and red lights around -on the wall, on the ceiling, on the floor; TV, etc. And you can't turn them off. We covered them with clothes but truly this was weird for a five star hotel. It seems as the world advanced we can't get away from technology, and it's blue light; even though we increasingly know it is bad for our sleep.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel we knew it was going to be a special weekend. With plenty of Prosecco on arrival and friendly, helpful staff we were taken to our room by Adella (Guest Experience Manager). Our room had been upgraded to a suite and there were lovely touches in the room (mineral water & fruit as well as rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed). We had also been given access to the Club Lounge which was a lovely relaxing area for us to enjoy a drink before going out for the evening. Our room was very stylish and comfortable and the hotel’s location is amazing with Marble Arch and Hyde Park at the end of the road. I had planned to propose to my partner (she said YES !) before going out for the evening and when we returned to our suite Adella had transformed it with rose petals on the floor, tealights spread around, the word “Congrats” on the bed made from rose petals and chilled champagne and chocolates. A lovely finish to a truly wonderful day !! Breakfast in the morning was also given to us complimentary and was as expected from a 5* hotel. Only staying one night did not give us the opportunity to use the Spa but if it is the same standard as the rest of the hotel then you would be in for a real treat. All of the staff, especially Adella and Marta, were so helpful and friendly and really made us feel special. We were sad when it was time to leave but we cannot wait for a return stay.
This 5 star hotel was our chosen preference for our return visit to London recently. It was only a one night stay but it was exceptional once again. The room/suite was beautiful, stylish & spotless. The staff are friendly, attentive and give excellent customer service. The hotel is located central but extremely quiet and we look forward to another visit in November. Thank you to Marta for making us feel very special.
Me and my wife had a delightful time at the hotel. We are very happy talkative people and its lovely that the staff made so much effort, not just to chat, but to be very considerate to our requirements. Due to my amazing acting and saying it was 21st b day...wife fell over ...actually 37, we were offered an upgraded suite and champagne...Fantastic!! Definitely a 5 from both of us ! Mr and Mrs Laskey
You will love this Hotel. The staff is amazing. Especially guest experience Izabela. The hotel looks also very good. One of the best hotels i've ever been. My number 1 recommendation in london. Best staff 👌👍👍👍
My husband and I stayed here last weekend to celebrate my 50th Birthday and from the very beginning we were treated as special VIP guests. We were given a glass of Prosecco (with top up) on check in and were taken to our room by Adella, the guest experience manager who gave us a detailed tour of the facilities. We had been upgraded to 'club' status and were treated to breakfast the next morning (delivered to room with glasses of bubbly) The quality of the food and presentation was stunning, it was definitely a breakfast we will never forget. The surprises continued later in the day when we returned to our room in the late afternoon to a bottle of bubbly, dessert, balloons and 'happy birthday' spelt out on the bed with rose petals. As for the actual hotel - location is brilliant, we were able to walk everywhere. The design of the hotel is modern and stylish and everything was spotless. Surprisingly the room was also very quiet. We could not fault anything about this hotel and would highly recommend it. My husband and I have never experienced such friendly and attentive staff. We were made to feel really special from start to end. Thank you Montcalm for making my 50th birthday so amazing, we hope to return in the near future.
