Booked this hotel after a horrendous experience at another hotel. Booked whilst in a taxi 10 minutes away. Only required name, no card payment over the phone. Arrived at a traditional hotel with a traditional (not corporate) way of doing things. Due to the short notice they were still arranging our room so we waited in the lounge with a glass of champers. 10 minutes later our room was ready. Staff are always happy to help and nothing is too much bother. The food was wonderful and our room was homely. Could not fault this hotel on anything, especially service and price on everything. Definitely returning if the need to travel to London should arise. One of London's little gems 👍👍👍👍👍
Highly recommended! With Groupon, we got high quality afternoon tea with only 10 pounds. There were multiple types of tea we could choice The staff and service were great too! The only disadvantage was that some cakes were too sweat.
I know you don't get much for your money in London but this is ridiculous! £260 a night for a "deluxe double" & I was expecting something decent... Wrong, diddly, wrong, wrong.... It was like walking into a room from the Great Expectations except in 2017 & zero has been updated! Honestly - Do not stop here as pretty much every hotel & B&B in the area is better! I couldn't stop laughing at all the 70's rammel in this room! A real positive is that there are loads of coat hangers in the wardrobe & you get a free bottle of Evian - Real top notch stuff! Guys - Get an extreme grip on what you are charging vs. the quality of your place Disappointed 😔 😭✅❤🦊🐶👨👩👧
I booked this hotel because it came with good recommendations and was prepared that it was old but clean. Indeed when we arrived, we were a bit taken aback with the old furniture and creaking floors. (But it's merry old England, as they say). But after a while, we felt really comfortable. Everything that mattered was clean and working. The towels, the toiletries, the beds and bed linen were top grade. There was always free Evian water, plus good supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolates and english biscuits. The front desk always had free bottle water to drink. We booked a one bedroom suite and got the 4th floor. (Btw 5th floor accesible only my stairs from 4th floors) The staff were really friendly and helpful. Kudos to them. Even when i did my online booking with the leonard hotel, they were very responsive to my queries and requests. Location is great. Near to marble arch. Just behind Oxford street. Food wise, we discovered St Christopher's place where there lots of restaurants. We felt lucky to have found it and so nearby. Plus theres selfridges and marks and spencers on oxford. I would stay at this place again for sure.
If you like a tasteful afternoon tea and a kind service, you are very welcomed here. We enjoyed a bubbly afternoon tea. They even served coffee instead of tea as we wished. Also good cakes and delicious sandwiches are served. The ambience is classic and quiet. The room is decorated very nice.
A great venue for afternoon tea - very good value for money at £19 compared to some other hotels. Staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Lovely little hotel for an afternoon tea treat. Would definitely visit again.
To tell you the truth I don't have too much to say about the hotel as I was always into my room and then directly out. The position is perfect, one minute from Oxford street yet still quiet and peaceful. As many people have mentioned before me the hotel is a bit worn down but perhaps in a weird way this is part of the charm....My room, yes my room (17 if I remember correctly) was the quirkiest room I have ever seen but I loved it! The stairs lead directly into the room (yep, private stairs, one and a half flights worth directly into the room. Separate wc as you enter with hanging chains instead of a door and then a couple more steps up to the room with a shower in the actual room. Although it was a bit worn down it was clean and fresh. Loved it! Highly recommend for fit single travelers.
Stayed here with familiy for 3 nights in the the Buckingham Suite. Spacious rooms and good beds. The rooms could do with a little make-over, but it was clean and had a nice nostalgic interior and decor. We had dinner at the hotel one evening, wich was very good. Very friendly and nice staff, and great location near Oxford Street and Marble Arch tube station.
We stayed in room 27 (luxury double) for 2 nights. The room was clean and it had a very comfortable four-poster bed, a TV with SKY, a small sofa, cupboards and so on. The en-suite bathroom was well-lighted and contained a bath with a shower over it, a basin and a toilet. Yes, the decor in a few parts of the room did need attention ----but we felt that it didn't really detract from the whole experience. There is an iron plus board in the wardrobe and a kettle with a reasonable selection of teas and so on. Blackout and soundproofing from the 'street' was good; however, we could hear another guest rattling around early in the mornings. Breakfast? Well, this was the weak spot! Our waitress forgot to explain the difference between one menu and another ----lots of confusion! Also, the portions varied: a huge amount of smoked salmon on the first day but only half as much on the second. Also, my toast needed tracking down 15 minutes after ordering it. I would also suggest the need to train waiting staff to scan all guests/tables before they disappear into the kitchens ----then guests would become less frustrated by the lack of attention. The lounge area was comfortable enough and there were plenty of newspapers and books to read. All of the staff were fabulous ----they just couldn't do enough for us! Would we stay there again? Yes ----but we wouldn't have breakfast there.
Have been staying here for the past 2 years with the family. You really cant beat the location as it is bang in the heart of Central London, with oxford street a minutes walk away! Easy access to restaurants, bars, supermarkets especially late night eateries and a Tesco on Edgware road. The breakfast is wholesome and freshly prepared and keeps you going all day. The rooms could do with a few modern touches, the lighting needs to be brighter, the bathrooms need health faucets besides this the staff and amenities are more than amazing. The restaurant in the lobby operates 24 hours, the housekeeping is done every day, and the reception staff is very friendly and helpful. would highly recommend this property to anyone going to London!
