Was travelling with my wife and my 6 and 9 years old ad we needed an overnight stay close to the airport. The room was very small and had bank-beds for my kids. This is a very basic hotel and it is not cheap
just next to the Gatwick airport south terminal and train station. They are all connected together under the roof. no worries for rain or snow or wind!
Was ok.nothing special.in the airport,so perfect if you don't want to spend time in the city center
Food okay Walk to terminal (out side only crossing ramp)
Hotel was very close to the airport extremely busy lines to check in very rushed
Located at the Gatwcik Airport, you can easily move around via Train or Shuttle Coaches.
Loved my short term stay here. The room and overall amenities were perfect. Requests accommodated so quickly and graciously; including follow up calls ( though I was napping, very happy they happening considering the reviews I read). The food and beverage service is embarrassing. If I weren't staying there, I'd never patronize again.
We were on our way home after cruising across the atlantic. The ship left us at Southhampton and we were leaving the next day. We took a train from Southhampton to gatwick. It was so easy. We dropped off the luggage and took the train into London. After spending the day we took the train back, slept and woke to be able to walk into the airport to our early flight. No stress.
Hotel had a fire alarm just when we were going to dinner. After waiting in the outside corridor for almost 45 minutes, we discovered the dinner we had booked for that evening had a 1 hour waiting time, making it well on 0pm to sit down and eat. Then we learned the draft beers at the bar had run out due to the finance manager failing to approve their weekly order. Altogether a bit disappointing for a Hilton Hotel.
I enjoyed the convenience of the airport location yet had access to all amenities. The hotel, as expected, was efficient, prompt and quite comfortable. I will stay here on all my business trips in the future.
The best thing going is that this is right by the airport, although you have to detour through the parking garage to get there. The room was OK but needs refurbishment (chipped furniture etc.), and more than two pillows. It's great if you just flew in or are ready to fly out. It's comfy, but could be better.
The biggest selling point of this Hilton is that it's practically on top of Gatwick's south terminal. You can walk from door-to-door in a few minutes without ever going outside. There's not much else to it, though. The rooms are spacious and clean, but the beds are a bit stiff and there's no room service after 10pm, which is a disappointment for those arriving on a late flight.
Only disappointment for me was that Wi-Fi in the room is an extra charge, unlike every other hotel on my 2 week trip.
This is not a standard hilton. Its too old, the room amenities are old, and the staff is not very welcoming. I will def stay at another hotel at gatwick next time! Not worth the 200 bucks
Since most folks just use this as a place to lie flat before or after flying in a cramped space for hours, the room doesn't need to be spectacular. But you do need access to wifi if you are from another country with a phone carrier (Verizon) that doesn't have good international service and you are relying on wifi to check flights and stay in touch. Of course, they are making even more money knowing this is the case which just makes those rug stains and uncomfortable mattresses that more galling.
Convenient for place to stay in between international flights a day or so apart. Great access to London via gatwick express.
service was very good, but there was no New Year Eve Dinner event which made the night quite boring.
Want internet in the room? Fifteen pounds. Want breakfast in the morning? THIRTY pounds!!! For the money I paid I expected things to be all included at this Hilton. Also our remote didn't work and we had to call to get a new one.
I stayed at this hotel coming to England & again when I left. The rooms were very clean & new. Also quiet. My complaints are that neither time did my rooms have wash cloths. The hotel restaurant is obscenely over-priced (average meal 25 pounds). Also, the tunnel connecting the hotel to the airport has been removed & so you must cross a road & then find your way to the elevators to get to the hotel. Anyone you ask at the airport would say it is well-signed. Not true! Once you get to the road there is no obvious sign to point you to the hotel. I had to get a nice airport employee to show me the way. As far as hotel staff: Christian was nice & friendly; Haley was not. But all that being said, the room was awesome & I will definitely stay there again. It's one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in.
Avoid the Gatwick Airport Hilton if it is necessary to stay overnight at Gatwick Airport. This hotel is not up to the standard one would expect of a Hilton. There is absolutely no comparison between the Heathrow Hilton at Terminal 4 and this one which advertises itself as "directly connected to the South Terminal". In fact it is very indirectly connected, involving long treks through corridors, a road crossing, awalk through a parking garage and an elevator ride in which the directions are so vague that one could easily get lost. Not a route to be dragging baggage, either before or after a flight. The room we were assigned was musty and dusty with few amenities. The must appeared to be emanating from the bathroom door , the base of which was rotting with mould. The "Garden Dining Room" was furnished in '60's minimalist art deco and was in dire need of refurbishment. The menu and associated buffet was uninspiring and expensive. One had to have sympathy for the staff who were labouring to run a property in dire needof reinvestment.
