Definitely top drawer. Of the ten hotels that we stayed in over the course of the pub crawl, the Savoy stands out. Not much wrong with the rest of them, mind you, but the Savoy was leagues ahead. The hotel itself was fantastic, the staff; porters, housekeeping, front desk, and restaurant, all beyond the best. And, the breakfasts, oh the breakfasts! All cooked to order, lots of fish along with the usual breakfast fares. Little things, like passion fruit and pomegranates that we wouldn't find elsewhere. If I return to Limerick and it poured down rain and the wind blew strong every day, I'd still be more than content just to stay inside and enjoy another stay at the Savoy..
We stayed on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday. Very attractive hotel, nice very nice bar with a super-friendly Polish Bar Manager who we chatted with. Room was very nice, although I wondered if certain amenities hasn't been replenished from the previous guest, e.g there was only one bathrobe and only one bottle of water? We asked for more when the lady came to do turn-down so it was OK. Ate in the restaurant which was very busy and had a fun atmosphere, we got into the spirit of things and drank way too much, ending up ordering Prosecco to the room. It was a good job there was no mini-bar in the room! Best bed of the holiday with plenty of feather and down pillows and super comfy bed. Breakfast was lovely (although we were a little too hungover to enjoy it properly), but the terrible piano music a la Richard Clayderman seems to be a feature of Irish hotel breakfasts and is beyond irritating. Perhaps its done on purpose so you don't linger at the buffet? A good stay all in all.
An enjoyable three night stay in May in this centrally located hotel. The staff were as helpful prior to our arrival as they were during our stay. The food was excellent and the breakfasts outstanding. The decor was beginning to look a little tittered in the hotel generally and more specifically in the bedroom. However this did not detract from our visit. An added bonus was the entertainment on the Saturday night when we returned from our celebration.
My partner book one night here as we were celebrating our 10th anniversary. The guy who checked us in was quiet pleasant and recommend few restaurants surrounding the hotel including The Savoy one called: The Library. As we walked into the room, I couldn't see anything special, one of the side lamp wasn't fully working. The bed is lumpy and worn out with a Bed Mattress Topper, not even mention the lack of wall insulation we could hear the outside noises, we both had a awful night sleep. We got ready and we had decided to dinning in the The Library, firstly we had a drink in the bar then we walked into The Library restaurant was empty for a Saturday we could choose any table. The waiter has nice told us the Chef specials. We had decide to have main course Only. I ordered one of the Chef special which was the Hake with baked potato and a side sauce My partner ordered Fish & Chips simple. The waiter dropped out food and left to answer a call on his mobile phone. ( He excused himself). The Ramekin with my sauce was chipped I refused to eat the source just in case the were pieces of broken glasses inside the sauce. I couldn't see the waiter anywhere. I get up and starting to looking around but I couldn't see anyone available to deal with that problem then I went to the reception for my chock there were nobody there also. I nocked the office behind the reception and a security guy who were looking at the CCV cameras walked over with me went to the kitchen and got me a fresh source at that point I was a bit angry but I controlled myself, the security guy asked if I want a drink I replay no but I ordered a portion of chips which I just got at the every end of my meal, so I send back to the chef. I still not understand the whole thing for a 5 start hotel to let that happen?! Overall we were not impressed. I don't want to stay in this hotel ever again, and I certainly DONT recommend to anyone the hotel looks like a 3star rather the 5start.
The Savoy staff was incredible. We had a large group and they were able to accommodate our changing itinerary. They held our bags and helped us check into our rooms expeditiously. Breakfast goes from 7am to 12pm, including a full hot menu - which is complimentary. Kes at the front desk went out of his way to help secure 10 additional rooms for us on short notice. I highly recommend this hotel.
Dear Sir or Madam, I am leaving my review to express my absolute disgust and disappointment at the treatment of my self and my wife Amanda have received at your reception yesterday evening, We are on our honeymoon and booked through booking.com to stay in your hotel for a few nights. Apparently your establishment do not accept cash, which in fact is legal tender here in Ireland last time I checked. Maybe you should make it clear to patrons , whatever way they book about your policy of only accepting credit cards. I think it is totally unacceptable but when I rang this morning to check up on this the girl on reception said I only need a swipe of our credit card and we can then pay in any method we like including cash which we had, your representative on reception badly needs training in customer service and relations as she was anything but helpful. We were trawling around Limerick and surrounding areas, on August bank holiday to find other accommodation which there was none and we had to travel to galway which is another hour away, we are so upset about this and my wife was crying since we left the savoy I will be following this up on Tuesday, on Cork local radio. I am also going to leave a review on booking.com. I will advise also on facebook to ensure this will not occur to someone else. A very unhappy patron. Regards Aaron
Stayed here recently while attending a wedding in Bunratty Castle Hotel, I stayed in this hotel for a total of 4 nights. A lady at reception Sarah was her name was most courteous and mannerly when asked about various excursions I enquires about while staying here, I also had frequent dealings with a gentleman called Thomas at reception too , he too was very helpful, I did not avail of the breakfast in my package but had lunch on two occasions in there sister restaurant the Hampton, (adjacent) to the Hotel and the food was fabulous , a 10/10 for my over all stay at this Hotel.
This hotel is nothing like the Savoy in London. I am thinking they must be part of the same company because the signage/typeface is the same - but that is where the similarity ends. It is a standard business traveller type hotel. We have spent one night here in an executive room on the seventh floor. The bed is lumpy and worn out we have both felt like we were going to roll out of it in the night. The hook on the back of the bathroom door is snapped off and the hand basin has cracks in it and the shower and sink do not drain. One face flannel for two guests. The hinges on the bathroom door oils never have been cleaned. Worn out furniture and the person who serviced the room couldn’t even be bothered to straighten the lampshade on the table lamp. All in all not very impressed. If we came back to this area we would certainly not stay here again.
I would avoid this hotel...at all cost...Our air conditioner never worked...they tried to fix it twice and never did, the night manager was an absolute idiot...he basically said he couldn't do anything about the problem...he couldn't or wouldn't move us...this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, I believe they gave themselves that rating, I cant imagine some service giving them more than a 2 star rating...we waited 15 minutes to unload our car when we arrived, another 15 minutes to get our car back the next morning after a waiting 10 to 15 minutes to get coffee at breakfast...I am a very frequent traveler and never complain...but this place was just a waste of time and money...Do not expect anything remotely close to 4 stars...on top of all of this, the street noise is very loud all hours of the night...
Had drinks here with a group recently. Very good staff - highly attentive - checked on us a number of times. Very clean and toilets were immaculate. That said, you do certainly pay for what you get. 5 Stars.
