The room was clean and comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed both restaurants and were very happy with the food and service. It was a lovely surprise that one of the restaurants served Asian food. Staff were friendly and really helpful. Plenty of parking out front.
Service n the bar for dinner was shocking. Was ignored at counter for 15 mins without even an acknowledgement. The food was tasty to b fair. Rooms are basic with very poor shower. Breakfast was inedible as everything was covered wit salt. No satisfaction when I complained on check out. Was just given a comments card to fill out. I said that's not much good to me is it and she agreed. No offer of a reduction etc. I won't b going back
My wife and I stayed at the Great National South Court Hotel Limerick over the June Bank Holiday Weekend. The double room was very spacious and very clean. All the staff that we met during our stay were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant. There was plenty of cereal, fruit, breads and hot food to choose from. The bar menu is very popular and you might have to book a table to be sure and the food was absolutely fabulous. We really enjoyed our stay and will define back.
This Hotel has plenty of car park spaces around it. It is some distance from the city centre, and not really within walking distance. The bedroom I was in was spacious, clean, and had a front hotel view. One my last night there was a lot of movement outside the room by staff cleaning the outside of the hall and creating a lot of noise.
I really wasn't expecting too much of this hotel, as I had got a great rate on their website for 2 nights b & b and one evening meal. We arrived and were dealt with very nicely and quickly by the receptionist. The hotel is beautiful and bright in the foyer and is very nicely decorated. So I was some what surprised when I entered our room to notice the big old television, it was like travelling back in time. The rooms are clean and a good size. I do think they need to be updated but can't really fault it as this is only decoration. We had a room that was by quite a busy road, and because it was so warm we had to keep the window opened all night due to no air conditioning. Luckily we all slept through though. The food in Off the Bone is brilliant, the staff were very well mannered and were great with our young kids. I do think they were a bit stretched though as the restaurant was very busy and we were kept waiting for quite a bit between starters and main course due to lack of staff. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. Plenty of choice and food was hot and replenished regularly. The free Wi-fi in the rooms was excellent. Normally in hotels it can be quite slow, but we had numerous devices working from it and it was extremely good. Without doubt we would definitely stay in this hotel again as it is very good value for money.
The room was very neat, environment quiet, decent and friendly staff. The buffet breakfast was superb but the curry house was a great treat each time we went for dinner with their variety of Indian cuisine. We will certainly be back there.
Really enjoyed our stay in South Court Hotel. Whilst the room itself is basic it is quite spacious and beds for all family of 4. Bathrooms definitely need attention and updating. Hotel facilities and staff excellent. Bar has been upgraded since our last stay and cocktail bar is great!! My kids favourite has to be pancake machine for breakfast definitely the highlight of South Court. We will be back again end of month for All Ireland's Feis so would love an upgraded room if available!!! Thanks
Six of us booked in for a 1 night stop whilst touring on bikes. Rooms were great, spotless & with plenty of space for 3 in each (a double & 2 singles). Unfortunately the A/C didn't work, but the window opened to keep it comfortable. Check-in/out staff were friendly & efficient. We had a few drinks in the spacious bar but ate in town.
First time I've visited this hotel but had heard some good reviews about it. I was a little disappointed with some aspects of my stay. Their was a spring sticking out of the side of the mattress which grazed me getting into bed, pillows were very hard and my daughter found it hard to sleep Dinner in the bar was OK, we were a party of 4 adults and 3 kids. You'd expect kids to be served with their food while we were having starters, not here, the kids were left waiting. Then when our mains came out half were served while half were left waiting 15 mins for our food. 30 minute wait for desserts. Breakfast the following morning served until 11am on Saturdays, we went down at 10. No pastries left, toaster only toasted one side, bacon was hard, sausages dry and no eggs. The men had to wait 10 mins for fresh eggs to come out. Good location for shopping just down from the crescent shopping centre, but don't think I'd stay longer than one night after my experience.
We opted for a lifestyle suite. It was outdated, had cracks in the ceiling and holes in the drywall (pictures included). And honestly nothing made it qualify as a "suite" other than the room was slightly longer than a standard room--no mini refrigerator, microwave, etc., no deck or bonus features. The shower was small and generally bad. I'm a small person and there was no physical way to shower without constantly touching the cold, wet shower curtain with your shoulder. Also, finding a consistent temperature was nearly impossible which is always annoying. You spend 15 minutes going from way too hot to freezing and eventually you just quickly wash and give up. The workout facility in the basement was, in a word, gross. It was dank, there was garbage strewn about, a broken drop-ceiling tile lie crumbled in a heap on the floor. Just low pride of ownership to allow it to get that bad. It appeared to mostly be used as an employee break room now. Yikes. Service was pretty decent. Front desk were professional, helpful. But the biggest positive, the redeeming factor that made this an average instead of poor rating: the food. The GastroPub was EXCELLENT. We ate there twice. The stir fry (I know, you don't go to Ireland for stir fry) was the best I've ever had. The prime rib roast, also great. Great beers. Nice servers. Just all around great. So, in summary, did not like the hotel at all. Did like the restaurant. If I were you I'd find a better hotel but cruise over for dinner one night if you get a chance.
